Plenty of cougars thoughThere's no mountain lions in Nebraska...![]()
It sends a message to the others. It is my understanding they have to shoot it. For some reason, trapping it or tranquilizing it isn't an option. Doesn't make sense to me they can't at least try to trap it.
There no doubt is a breeding population in the Omaha area regardless of what GFP says. One of these days somebody will get attacked. A guy still hunting from the ground in Knox county a few years ago had to kill one when it attacked him. He had video to support what happened. A friend killed a HUGE tom on the SD side of Lewis and Clark Lake with a bow. There are WAY more livestock attacks happening than what gets reported. There's no mountain lions in Nebraska...![]()
Most of them do.The current kitty was last spotted south of Omaha last night. The kitty needs to keep moving south and west out of the metro or he is going to get shot and killed. He is far too comfortable in the city now. He is literally walking thru neighborhoods like a coyote would. That is not good.
A picture at the bait shop in Fort Randall of a big Tom killed in the campground during last winter. They definitely are along the Missouri River. There no doubt is a breeding population in the Omaha area regardless of what GFP says. One of these days somebody will get attacked. I saw something in my calving pasture this spring. It was at dawn and 3/8 mile away so I wasn't SURE what I saw. A couple days later 3 people saw a mountain lion 1/2 mile away. It won't get a 2nd chance. Lost a couple calves but wasn't really sure why. Coyotes don't kill calves and cows protect well against them. seemed a lil over kill...I was gonna make it a pet
Because they built houses in the habitat the cat already was in most likely. Most of them do.
they stopped trapping alot...so they follow the creeks into the city
They were searching out there on Sunday too. I wonder if itās a separate oneToday they are searching Lake Zorinsky for this big cat.
You know, at this point I do it to specifically annoy you. Winking

Yep. Have a friend who has lost 2 calves in 2 years in the same river pasture. One he found buried under a pile of brush.I saw something in my calving pasture this spring. You need to have a donkey I believe to run with your cattle, theyāll kick the living crap out of the mountain LionYep. Have a friend who has lost 2 calves in 2 years in the same river pasture. One he found buried under a pile of brush.
I had a cow with scratch marks on each side of her shoulders and her calf had a wound on its flank. Thought it was strange and then a couple of days later ran into a game warden who told me a lion had attacked a neighborās calves about that same time.
I donāt think a donkey is much of an answer. I had an old cow with horns that kept a check on dogs and coyotes but sheās long gone. One of my neighbors has donkeys but theyāre always off by themselves. You need to have a donkey I believe to run with your cattle, theyāll kick the living crap out of the mountain Lion

That ain't where he's at. He was just at Walnut Creek Lake in Papillion last night. Some idiot kid chased after it down the street and got video of it. It was definitely a mountain lion.Today they are searching Lake Zorinsky for this big cat.
