Offense purposely vanilla tonight per Pope

[MidseasonTweak]

Goal was defensive work. Makes more sense why the offense had little to no flow.

We will see how well this holds up.

Almost makes you wonder if Pope painted the narrative after the game.

Yeah 19 turnovers couldn't of been part of the keeping it vanilla plan. That sloppy play looked like last year. Not being able to break the press against a scrub team is not great.

[kyjeff1]

Not buying that.

[Catastic5]

We’ll see.

Nobody with a clue and truly gets Pope would. Dude lacks serious leadership qualities.

I want to believe him, I just don't. I'm going to continue to ride this 3rd year out, but I know that Pope needs to start being more aware of his flaws than he currently is, because if he doesn't and he does end up getting canned, it's going to destroy him.

[sk73]

Pope doesn't want the mighty Manhattan Jaspers seeing our real offense. He wants them to be unsure about us using a left or,right handed offense.

Man, that’s the odd thing with him. He’s SUPER hard-headed and unwilling to see or acknowledge his shortcomings. Just like the “my first two years were better than Cals last five” crap. True or not, it’s a really weak-minded narrative to try to push.

My take is he’s got zero confidence in his own ability. The result is posturing. It’s a recurring trait in guys like that.

Re-tooling to be a better defensive unit. Offense is still learning to be more efficient

[yoshukai]

The high pick&roll and Zoom action are staples in a Mark Pope offense. Didn’t see much if any of that tonight. So yeah, I believe him .

Some of you are just miserable people.

Rather than make a statement that does nothing to prove me wrong, please feel free to ad context as to what you think are his redeeming qualities as a leader of elite college athletes is. That actually takes a little bit of a thought. I could just reply “some of you are weak snowflakes”, but that’s kind of shallow, huh?

[AJG-15]

You can’t work at everything. Prioritizing defense is smart. We are out of shape but is early.

spacing and offense would is all about schematics. I would not show everything in the first exhibition game.

i don’t think MP lied. It makes perfectly sense what he said.

[NociHTTP]

Turning the ball over 19 times and still winning by 20 is nothing to laugh at.

[UKWildcats1987]

Pope never lies so this makes me feel better.
