We had the best player in the country at the 4 and a top 10 pick at the 5, with Brown and Pat and Gillis. Not sure we are better in the frontcourt. Possibly if pat gets a lot better and Brown is healthy and Boozer is an All American.
Let's be honest, Mal is a top 10 pick based purely on potential, not because he was a great player while he was at Duke.

He only played 21 minutes a game for a reason.

I have nothing against Mal, he gave us fans some exciting moments but he will be in the back of our minds when Pat is putting up 13 and 10 next season give or take.

And Pat has court vision and passing ability to boot.

I respect your opinion but “great” is a stretch in my opinion.

I would say good, if Mal was a great rim deterrent then how would you describe say Hakeem Olajuwon?
id say great in his time w/ duke doing what we needed him to do in regards to rim support

I loved Mal in his year with Duke but he was extremely raw. Barring injury he will be a great nba player but he had a lot of holes this season. He is a top 10 pick because of what he will eventually be and not on what he currently is.
We will miss his size for the pick and roll alley oops for sure but I think duke’s frontcourt will be much improved in terms of defense, post scoring, and rebounding this coming season. If ngonba hadn’t had a minutes restriction all year due to his senior injury, he may have gotten more minutes and cut into Mals. Plus brown could have done the same if it wasn’t for his injuries.

Only Charlotte sports could make a ping pong ball drawing feel like the Super Bowl. It’s exhausting trying to root for teams that never give you anything in return. Now, that flicker of hope, as rare as a Charlotte playoff run, is back. The Hornets were my first love, then they left for New Orleans like a deadbeat dad going out for milk and cigarettes. Screw you, George Shinn. Then came the Bobcats, Bob Johnson, and MJ running the team like a hobby, overseeing decades of draft disasters and basketball misery. One pick away from Dwight. One from Anthony Davis. One from Wemby. Every draft lottery is another episode of heartbreak.

Let’s not act like Silver hasn’t rigged this thing before. Hornets fans are held together by anti depressants, pure delusion, and duct tape. So please, Adam, just this once. Rig the ping pong balls so we can get Cooper and finally feel something again. And while I know we’ll get screwed again tonight, at least I can dream for a few more hours.

I think if I were the Hornets I’d trade down.

At 4 it’s probably Tre Johnson who is pretty dang good but at 8 or 9 you can get a similar player who could end up being just as good.

Not that I care though 😂

So let's see. The NBA gets Luka to LA. Dallas, who has a miniscule chance of getting the 1 and is mocked mercilessly lands said pick for getting Luka to LA. The Spurs have the 2 pick and another early first rounder to set up one of their young poster kids in Winnie.

Getting paid millions to play a game you love as your “job” against the best players in the world. That was definitely my “dream job”. Professional Basketball or Soccer Player

I wanted to play college hoops but I wasn't good enough. But at 18 if they offered me 2 million to run track or....go to classes all day, then have my coach yell at me for 2 hours while running, then go to the library to study for 3 hours, then go back to my roach infested Queens apartment, well you can imagine what I would choose.

Yahoo's latest mock has Coward at 14; oof. Doubt he goes that high but he is rising.
(If Coward stays in there is a spot for you Tyrese.)

Proctor has always had a place back at Duke if he wanted it. Unfortunately, I think he’s just over the college routine.

Foster
Proctor
Evans
Cameron
Ngongba

Brown
Harris
Khamenia
Cayden
Chuk

^ I’d be perfectly fine with that rotation

I'd also bet on not seeing Coward in a Duke uniform. We have backup options, and it's best to plan on those at this juncture.
