Bring it . You want to be the best you got to beat the best and beating the defending national champs wouldn’t be a bad start to the season .

Some idiots will still say, “but Duke doesn’t play any competition” 😂

Next play unfortunately. Three thoughts

1. Who returns?

2. Who comes in?

3. Who takes Jai seat on the bench?

My guesses-
1. Evans, Pat, Brown come back 100%
Proctor comes back or goes pro- 60/40 return/leave
Foster- 80% tramsfer
Everyone else 100% gone

2. No clue

3. Jay Williams
Hey look my old account is showing up! But I can’t log in…

What I gathered from the scrimmage based on videos from DBR
1. Sarr is raw but athletic.
2. Foster looks improved.
3. Big Pat looked good, and the transfer big looked decent.
4. Khamena a little slow but skilled.
5. Brown cannot scrimmage yet. Evans and big Boozer our best players.
6. Foster was getting by little Boozer pretty easily.

We need big season from Brown. Hope he stays healthy

I think the season will boil down to can Brown stay healthy, will Sarr be a consistent force and can Foster figure out what to do once he gets past his guy. Think we have more losses than usual but the potential is there for a run.

Duke will need Sarr to continue taking steps to get into first round convo and Foster & Pat to take their necessary steps

Khamenia is definitely a little heavy footed, but also very skilled and Uber competitive.

Need key guys to 1. Take steps (Foster, Pat) and 2. Be consistent (Evans)

Agree. We know shooting and rebounding are a must, but a really good point guard makes things easier for everyone on offense, and hell on the other team.

They’ve bought into the size/length at every position, which certainly helps the switchability on defense. Offensively, it will be interesting to see the variation they run.

Proctor was not a break you down, dynamic-type PG. He got his team into sets, limited TOs, and (at times) made shots when the ball swung back around. Much of the offense was either generated from the wings or because of the quick hitter sets. I’ll be interested to see if Foster adopts more of a touch the paint and collapse the defense mentality or get his team into sets role. While Evans, Sarr, Khamenia, and Cam can all score at various levels, they aren’t much for self-creation, so I’ll be curious what the offensive end looks like.

Who can make good things happen after turning the corner in the PNR? Last year it was Coop and Kon and every now and then Sion or Ty but who can do that consistently and lead to good results this year?

Agree on Proctor. Which is why I think it's so important that whoever is the point guard needs to be able to get into the lane, with the ability to finish. It opens up so many options offensively, and makes life on the other team tough.

Cooper was expected, but Kon being so good as well made last year's team better than usual. Probably the best Duke team since 2002.

In theory, this roster is filled with guys who have positional size, can make a jump shot, and who process quickly with the ball in their hands. Will be interesting if someone is able to step up to the plate in creating advantages off a live dribble.

Cooper took a big step too, and he continued getting better throughout the year. Not sure the Knueppel output was much of a surprise given what expectations were coming in. Of the freshmen, I’d think that the inconsistency, and sometimes unplayable nature of Isaiah Evans season was more of a surprise.

If one of the questions facing the team this year is "Can anyone competently drive the ball?" that would seem to preclude the empty post offense that Duke employed so much last year and that still seemed very evident in the open practice scrimmages. I suspect Duke might eventually settle on more of a heavy post look with a smashmouth crush the opponent on the glass offense.
