Was listening to sports radio this morning and they discussing Cora as a potential replacement for Boone if he wasn’t to make it after this year. I personally would never want to see Cora in pinstripes.
No way in hell! Just sports blow hards trying to boost their ratings.

Our bullpen is very worrisome.
Yep....but to be fair, the misplay by McMahon contributed

Gil needs to be in Triple A right now working on fastball command and whatever they believe is his best off-speed pitch. Ditch the rest for now and work on gearing up for one inning stints. Hopefully, they will be able to find his lost velocity as part of that

Yeah the McMahon bobble is what caused the ninth to be a high stress inning.

With the exception of that play McMahon has be exceptional in the field.

Every 9th inning with Bednar has been stressful weather it has been his fault or not. He's just not that good. He did give up an earned run and allowed 2 hits. His ERA is 3.55. That's not closer ERA material. And Cruz enters again and starts off pitching batting practice. His EA is 3.60. Boone loves him. It's crazy. He sucks. Only a miracle play by Cruz saved that inning. Fact remains the bullpen continues to give up runs regardless of who is pitching. Only Hill has been dependable.

Watching the Yankees game with right now and I have to wonder after seeing the Yankees fail so many times asking for a review on a low pitch and almost always being wrong. I see pitches that are outside being called strikes and they never ask for a review on them. They need to stop with the low pitch reviews and start asking for reviews on these obvious outside pitches.

Eovaldi locking us down right now. Our phenom just brought up today is struggling with his command. I'm sure he's jacked up. His family flew in from Puerto Rico.

Typical of the Yankees luck The Martian gets injured in his first game being called.

And only down 2-0 the bullpen promptly gives up a run.

If we ever do a bullpen game the opponent will score 20 runs.

And now we have to be subjected to the Orioles network for 4 games, and 7 games in the next 14 days. I'll mute them after the 1st inning each game. That is all of them I can take. I despise the blackout rule. The O's are considered my home team, although Washington and Atlanta are closer to me. Who makes this inane decision?

Will Warren ha been quite impressive thus far.

I made it to the 2nd inning before I had to mute the O's announcers. They talked about Alonso's home run non stop for 10 minutes as if he had just won the World Series with a walk off home run. Nauseating how much they are homers. Never drift form the game just constant chatter, such as describing every pitch 10 different ways. I miss Michael Kay and Paul O'neill talking everything but baseball and cutting up. It's not necessary to describe every little thing about the game. We can see what is going on.

I am becoming very impressed with Warren. He was great last night.

I agree on the announcing...the O's guys are horrible, but at least without Palmer they aren't quite as bad. Kay and O'Neill are the best duo in the game.

Your are right!

Jim Palmer is the most annoying, crying homer there is. wah wah wah "That's a Yankees call right there, you're not going to get that strike call against the Yankees, of course the Yankees control all the money," etc. I think the O's network annoucers are made to be homers. They are employed by the O's.

YES is independently owned and whoever is calling with Kay in a particular game can speak their mind concerning anything Yankees. And Kay will rip Boone and the Yankees on occasion on his pregame talk show at 3:00 PM.

If Bednar eventually shows he can't close anymore, who do the Yankees go to? Holmes, Devin Williams, and Weaver are all gone.

So Volpe has been sent to the minors as the Yankees have decided to keep Caballero. I have run out of patience with Jazz. He seems to think he is better than he is and does too much flaunting and lackadaisical ****. If he stays on the current hitting slump trade him before the deadline and put Volpe on 2nd base.

Yankees are on fire
Yes they are but so are the Rays. Would like to stretch the lead when you are on a heater but those fuckwrs never seem to lose either.

Was nice to hear the O’s announcers begrudgingly talking about how this year’s Yankees squad just had a different look to them. How athletic we are and can beat you in so many ways with speed and power and by the way we also have the # 1 pitching staff as well. Must have hurt for them to have to admit that LOL.

Yes, I noticed that as well. Ben McDonald was unusually complimentary throughout the game.

Being a former scout for the Yankees, there are a few posters here who were on the other board that know how much I despise analytics. Me and bigs23 debated all the time over this. He loved analytics and I don't. Just read an interesting piece from a Scott Forbes interview from yesterday. Here it is:

The Role Analytics Play

Jackson: “It plays a role, but not the biggest role. There are some organizations in pro ball where it’s just centered around that. I think we do a really good job of looking at what’s there. We don’t really just strictly go off analytics. There are some tools you can ask it a question and it’ll tell you what your best run scoring line up should be and all. That doesn’t mean we’re going to use it, but at least maybe it starts to take you down a little bit different thought process as far as putting the lineup together.

“I think that’s one thing that gets lost sometimes in this day and age of baseball, is you don’t use your gut as much as you should. And that’s something Scott Forbes is really good at. If he’s got a gut thought, he goes with it, and he doesn’t look back.”

That is what I've always preached. Long before analytics you used your eyes and your brains. I did very well in baseball, as did thousands, for a long time before analytics was invented.

Watching the 1st inning of the Yankees game and I'm not sure bringing up Rodriguez was the right move. There are several other pitchers I would have thought would have been ahead of him. He struggled last week and already down 3-0 in the 1st inning tonight on 40 pitches!

And I'm ticked Rice is not playing again. He is not injured. He was cleared to play yesterday and Boone has held him out 2 games with his customary babying of players. Rice said he is fine. Smh

Cruz is a joke of a pitcher and Boone is a fool to pitch him every damn game. The dude has nothing and I don't see what Boone sees in him.

It was only the second time in the Expansion Era (since 1961) that the Yankees had at least eight inherited runners and didn’t allow any to score, also achieved Aug. 14, 2021, against the White Sox.

Side note: Rodriguez was sent back to the minors after the game.

I haven't followed it closely but what is the deal with Volpe? Are the Yanks moving on from him?

Caballero is playing well. Volpe hasn't been hitting in his rehab stint. Leave him down until/unless he forces them to bring him up

Nothing can change my mind that the worst thing for Volpe's development was hitting 20+ dingers his rookie year....when he came up with the label of a spray/gap hitter.

With his speed, a spray/gap hitter is exactly what he needs to be. Not swinging from his heels every at bat

One of the quirky things that always pops up in baseball is the Yankees have only lost 2 games in the past 10 days and both were to former Yankees pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. He deals on the Yankees but not on anyone else.

After firing seven scoreless innings in a win over them last Wednesday at Globe Life Field, Eovaldi continued his mastery of his former club, improving to 5-2 with a 2.22 ERA in his last 11 starts against the Bombers.

And it seems Tampa never loses a game. Despite the tear the Yankees have been on so has Tampa. They are only 1/2 game back.
