The guys on the Wolfpacker board want to thank you, particularly aligned_ for_9, for updates. We are a small but very active group that has worked at feeding information to the appropriate parties. The Wolves Den is premium so it is not available to most. If anything really significant is posted that I can share, I will. BTW, in early July a detailed letter explaining the infamous 12 hour policy was sent to the right people. This agrees exactly with what aligned said happened in Aug.

IMHO, it is going to be a lot more than that slap on the wrist
for a UNC fan to even admit any punishment is going to happen is a miracle

Since his "source" first told him men's basketball wasn't getting punished and now he's saying he is expecting a 1 year postseason ban and a loss of a couple of scholarships, I'd say he doesn't know crap and is just guessing. There's a few people who have inside information but this guy isn't one of them.
We'll see. However, if this is true, then that means that MBB would have to have done something to warrant a punishment. The only thing they were alleged to have done was receive extra benefits. So this would mean that MBB players definitely received extra benefits.
What UNC seems to be hiding their head in the sand about is the other aspect of extra benefits. That is, any player who receives them is immediately ineligible until they go through the reinstatement process. UNC never submitted these players for reinstatement, so any of the players that prompted this possible ban were ineligible during all games played after first receiving the benefit.
And we all know what happens when a school plays an athlete ruled ineligible.
I would also add that it would be highly unusual for the NCAA to be discussing specific penalties with UNC, especially prior to sending the amended NOA. Determination of penalties falls under the purview of the COI process.
This may be what UNC is hoping for, or intends to self-impose, but I would highly doubt this came from the NCAA.
UNC will NEVER self-impose.......it goes against the very grain of everything that matters to them......THE BANNERS.......the school could burn to the ground as long as the banners are protected...

This makes a great deal of sense,they are hoping for an outcome such as described.I have doubts they would self impose anything unless it is so bad they see it as a last ditch effort to save a banner
Exactly, I wonder how can anyone can know ANY punishment details before the CoI has even met. We're still awaiting confirmation of UNC*** receiving the Amended NOA, yet we see reports from both sides specifying various conflicting punishment details.
Remember guys, Syracuse only got one year ban. UNC may just get 1 or 2 years. But if the academic fraud charge is there, they will have to forfeit probably 2 banners and almost all the wins under royboy. That would suit me fine.
Has the NC State fan (can't remember his name) posted anything recently? The one that seems to be highly connected and rarely posts but when he does it's extremely thorough?

I have zero doubt that this Heel poster was told what he claims. However, the fact is that only a VERY small handful of Ram's Club members actually know what is going on. All but a select few are being fed the PR spin in order to "keep the morale up." If the truth was made known....it would hurt UNC's recruiting even more...and think of the potential money that would be lost due to desolate fans.
UNC "insiders" have been wrong literally every step of the way. They're not suddenly about to start being right.

I think people are missing the (unitended?) humor in this post. The guy starts by saying he is "four for four" based on the predictions from his source. He then proceeds to say that his "very reliable" source was wrong and that UNC will be punished. Ummm, what happened to that "four for four?"

Present - fine the living **** out of them by making them repay all the $'s they have been given from anything that was associated with the vacated games (tourney money, bowl money, TV money, etc., etc.). UNC takes out a full page ad in USA Today and the 5 largest in state newspaper publications apologizing to the student athletes that were wronged, the NCAA, the ACC, all other colleges they competed against, and the state of North Carolina.
Future - 5 years of post season bans so they can snivel and cry their *** off after the second year to get it reduced to 3. Massive and debilitating scholarship reductions for a period of at least 5 years. 10 year period where UNC pays an outside and independent firm (selected by the NCAA) to oversee and perform random unannounced audits of how their SA's and academics coexist.
I didn't include TV ban on the "future" because of TV contracts in place for conference games and the like. But the big reason to me for no TV ban is that the post season bans and scholly losses should ensure they suck out loud for a minimum of 6 years and I want to be able to watch them get hammered time and time and time again in the comfort of my den while I LOL.

There's an important admission embedded in that defense: UNC isn't claiming that athletes were actively seeking out fake classes. UNC is implying that there was pre-existing fraud independent of the athletes, who merely "didn't resist" being sucked into it.
They're also implying that the fraud was so blatant that even naive freshman students should've known what was going on and either avoided it or reported it.
SACS formally called B.S. on UNC's assertion that the AFAM scandal was the work of simply two people.
I remember that; but it seems to continue to be perpetuated in the few articles we see on it
I am sure that most athletes that are involved when improprieties happen know something is amiss. Did that ever stop the NCAA from sanctions before? As the KSR caller JT says "If the NCAA was a man I would punch it in the face". :boxing:
