how does this work exactly ? By rooting for UK you are by extension rooting for Cal to succeed. The two objectives can’t be different here. Either Cal and Uk do well. Or they don’t.
I mean that’s different than not liking a coach. I didn’t care for BCG. But as a UK fan I still wanted to win every game. Knowing full well that means billy won as well
Personally, I don’t like Cals style, I don’t like what he’s done to the home and home situation across college basketball, I don’t like the way he recruits, and I don’t like how he’s turned UK into a pit stop. I also don’t like how he uses his job title to promote things outside of UK basketball.
Having said that, I’m fine if he wins. If he doesn’t win, I want him out.
You don’t have to be a big fan of the coach, you can easily support UK and hope for another coach sooner rather than later.
What you can’t be, is the opposite. You can’t be a UK fan and be fine watching the program turn to crap because you support the coach more than winning. You can’t be a coach fan first, and a UK fan second. Lately, we’re seeing this more and more, and it’s merely because Cal is the ultimate salesman who can have the worst record in UK history and still convince people he’s not replaceable.
This isn’t hard. If Cal can win then it’s fine but you don’t have to like his style for UK. If he can’t win, you can’t be a UK fan while also wanting him to stay.
