Surely you are NOT THIS dense? But, maybe you are. He can't be fired with that insane contract, wanting that is out of the question. BUT, if enough fans stop supporting, and keep up the pressure, Cal will leave on his own. I will continue to beat this drum till Cal is gone.
And I'm sure he is listening to your drum.

No coach is perfect. But when the bad starts to even out or outweigh the good. Pointing out the good and bad, what's wrong with it? Cal did a great job bringing our program back up, recruiting, representing a place like this, etc. Now his way has fizzled out. He is literally playing players because of their 5 star status instead of making them earn their spot. He never has the experience needed to make a serious run. His offense is stagnet compared to so many others we see. In your face and help defense is not as good as a lot of teams we see.

What is the deal to be OK with all of this? Cal needs to change, now. Comparing us to other programs by the numbers, well, we are Kentucky. We aren't Duke, North Carolina or Kansas. We are Kentucky and no need to apologize for that and say that we are right there with others. It should be about winning the championship and everything else a distant second.
We had a ****** year. In '20, we were positioned for a run until Covid. Everyone forgets how good we did at the end of 20. We were 8th in the country set to make a run. But god forbid a few black kids kneel and piss off all the rednecks in Kentucky that didn't serve. Get over yourselves.

I love all these revisionist posts about that team like they were a juggernaut just waiting to happen.
The rest of your post is not even woth responding to because it's pure trash.

No I get it. These people don’t want Cal fired they just want him to change.

but let’s be honest here, Cal isn’t changing because of subset of fans want him to. So now you either have the choice to support him and the team this way or not be a fan.

IMO, there are two types of UK fans

1. Fans that are UK fans, these fans will support the program no matter what, they put their trust in coach and will support that coach, till the coach leaves

2. Then you have UK basketball fans. Fans that have followed the team for 20,30,40 years or more, who enjoy watching good UK basketball and want to see the program maintained at the highest level. These fans don’t give a crap about the NBA or political ideas, they just want good basketball. Once these fans see the program going the wrong way they want change, ie. with Tubby, BCG and now Cal.
I’ve been a fan since 1983 and I support a coach until he leaves or is removed. Soooo…#3?

So you supported Tubby and BCG had they both stayed longer than they did? Just how long would you have supported BCG? How many years?
We disagree on almost everything but I still think you are a good poster. I suggest you see how the current roster plays out next year. I personally think it can be some exciting basketball.

I can't wait for next season to start. Everything is shaping up for this to be a strong year. We are returning a great deal, adding a great deal and shook up the staff.

Don't really care about last season, kneeling, masks, covid, arguing...I am over it. I am ready for BBN to embrace this next group as it should be a good one.

Everything that is happening in CBB now is favoring UK. K retiring, NIL, Transfer rule, Orlando/Chin- the whole staff....things are trending upward.

Show me where I have EVER stated I want Cal fired. You can't, see all your ilk does is run around throwing out false accusations, and never back them up. Come on BIG man, show me what you got. Put up or shutup time.
Am I wrong when I think you have bumped the “bump if you want Cal gone thread many times”? Also you knew this would be a baiting thread. A lot of excitement with the upcoming season but several of you seem to do your best to try to squash any positive vibe. I do respect a wait and see approach but that’s not what you are doing.

The good news is that current players with eligibility and the new expectation that KY will compete with some upper class guys, UK will use more of its scholarship spots for depth. There probably are 20 prospects counting recruits to fill a competitive 10 player rotation. Cal will not get caught with a situation where an injury and transfer leaving him a dangerously thin roster. Deep teams don't have to deal with troubled teenagers to the extent thin teams do. The game changed and it will flip back to exra year of strength and conditioning matters. The transfers have had that and have become huge. Cal pivoted quick and got some recruiters as assistants. Strong and deep staff and team.

How’s that drum beating going for you? Are your hands sore yet? Pace yourself. I figure you’ve got about ten years of the annoying noise produced by your drumming til Cal decides he’s ready to retire.
Absolutely. You want to make a bet that Cal will coach here another 10 years? I say less than 5, so you want to bet on more than five?

I’ll make this bet: Your beating the drum will have zero impact on when he leaves. He’ll go exactly when he decides and not a day sooner. But keep beating the drum like a fool. Or are you jumping back on the bandwagon?
Oh, we agree on that. He will leave when he gets ready, that insane contract settled that, which is why I never asked for him to be fired, I wanted him to leave on his own. I also know that it won't matter one way or another what I say or you say will have any effect on that. It is what it is. IMO, Cal crossed several lines last year, if you are ok with all he did, more power to you. I am not.

I will NEVER be back on the Cal bandwagon, but I will die a UK fan. You realize, one can support a team and not the coach, right? And I have no idea what a bandwagon is.

This is the Cal brigades mantra, but it’s not true at all. Cal cannot just keep this job until he’s ready to leave. If he has another year like he did last year, he will be on the hot seat. A follow up of mediocrity, he’s gone.

The arena would have been empty for the first time in history last season. That’s the only reason you’re feeling as secure as you do in your defense of a coach.

Nobody who’s a Kentucky fan should want to retain JC if another year like last year happens. If he loses 10+ games, gets raped in the SEC, or worse, no real UK fan should want to retain him.

Cal is a salesman and some people have a hard time unwrapping their mind after he’s worked them over. I get it, but he will absolutely not keep this job “as long as he wants” without winning, and for people who’ve been fans of this program for decades, shame on anyone who would want him to stay just because he’s given you a great sales pitch.

He either performs to the job or he loses it. That’s what a real UK fan should say and that’s how this has always worked. Enough of the fanboy nonsense, win or leave. We should all be on board with that.

how does this work exactly ? By rooting for UK you are by extension rooting for Cal to succeed. The two objectives can’t be different here. Either Cal and Uk do well. Or they don’t.

I mean that’s different than not liking a coach. I didn’t care for BCG. But as a UK fan I still wanted to win every game. Knowing full well that means billy won as well

Exactly. You answered your own question. I know for UK to do well, Cal is doing well. But I don’t like him, regardless. Just like one poster here stated he supported the coach till he left or was removed, so I guess he would have supported BCG had he stayed 10 years. I am not that way. I have never been a fan of any coach, they are all just passing thru, but give a season like last year, it’s time to move on. Cal has been here longer than any coach we have had, except Rupp.

Personally, I don’t like Cals style, I don’t like what he’s done to the home and home situation across college basketball, I don’t like the way he recruits, and I don’t like how he’s turned UK into a pit stop. I also don’t like how he uses his job title to promote things outside of UK basketball.

Having said that, I’m fine if he wins. If he doesn’t win, I want him out.

You don’t have to be a big fan of the coach, you can easily support UK and hope for another coach sooner rather than later.

What you can’t be, is the opposite. You can’t be a UK fan and be fine watching the program turn to crap because you support the coach more than winning. You can’t be a coach fan first, and a UK fan second. Lately, we’re seeing this more and more, and it’s merely because Cal is the ultimate salesman who can have the worst record in UK history and still convince people he’s not replaceable.

This isn’t hard. If Cal can win then it’s fine but you don’t have to like his style for UK. If he can’t win, you can’t be a UK fan while also wanting him to stay.

Absolutely. For the first time in several years I am anxious for the season to start.

Really? In January, you said you wouldn't watch another game until Cal was gone, until this team was gone. A lot of the team and Cal are back. Now you say you can't wait to watch. Just admit that you are a fair-weather fan that makes the fanbase look ignorant, trashes the program when things aren't going your way, etc. not to mention that your word is worthless.

KyFaninNC
OK. I didn't watch the game. Saw a poster said after seeing them kneel. I knew they did Saturday, that is why I am not watching any more games till Cal and this team is gone.
