John Pelphrey and Darrin Horn as co-coaches, with Tashaun Price as assistant.
Tyler Ulis as Head Point Guard recruiter and one who ignores star ratings, but knows the position.

An outside choice would be head coach of the Lakers. He has been here before.

Agree. Holtmann would be one of the first calls I’d make when time comes for Cal to leave. I think he would absolutely treasure the opportunity and be humbled by it.

There are no good choices who would want the job at this time. Kentucky doesn’t hire up and comers. When we have, it’s been a mistake. We need proven, seasoned and successful. There aren’t any out there as of right now who would leave a near the top or top job to come to Kentucky.

It’s irrelevant because Calipari isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The only logical answer in this day and age is an up and coming person of color. Anything else is indicative of the old white patriarchy and privilege.

I don’t know who it will be because a person wouldn’t know until cal decides to leave.

Honest answer is you make Brad Stevens turn down $10 million a year first and foremost. I know you don't think he will, but you never know what that kind of money could do to lure him here. That and coaching the most storied CBB program of all time.

If he says no, same offer to Mark Few.

After that you gauge Vogel's interest from the Lakers and make him the offer.

If those 3 say no, I say Holtsman or Oats

I don't go near Billy D or Jay Wright. They don't get a third chance to tell us no.

All that said, Cal isn't going anywhere. His ego won't let him leave on a sour note. The admin won't fire him due to the $50 millon buyout. Nor should they. He is the most successful coach in the game since he came here. He needs to adapt, but you give him the chance after the success he has had.

I may be wrong, but I could of sworn I remembered him releasing something publicly about not coming here during the BCG and Cal searches.

As I said, may be I am wrong. If I am, he goes to #2 on the above list of making him turn down $10 million

EDIT: He did in 2009 Link

EDIT #2: This is just a blog and no details, but looks like he made a comment in 2007 too Link

Anyone saying Travis Steele or Chris Holtman, gross. This is UK you shoot for the stars. Its Brad Stevens or Mark Few or Bust. Its a shame that we owe Cal a 60M buyout bc if you offered Brad Stevens that same 60M over 5 years he'd probably come back to college.

I didn't know we'd even made one run at Wright, much less two?

Are you sure you're not thinking about Rick Barnes? He was kind of a running joke around here for stating publicly that he wouldn't be taking the UK job when he'd not been asked. Then he showed up at UT and started kicking Cal's *** on a regular basis, taking most if not all the humor out of making fun of him.

EDIT: Never mind. I didn't read your link before posting. I didnt remember Wright being a candidate.

Throw a dart at the US map..... pick a coach with more than 20 wins this season from that area....... it would be a significant improvement over this sh*t storm Cal made this season lol.
