I know they're about to get hammered

But what else should the school have done? The suspended him for a year. They were much harsher on him than the law was.

Well, they basically just redshirted him. I'm pretty sure he didn't use a year of eligibility.

When Stoops saw the tape, his only play is to make Mixon someone else's problem. Cut him lose, wish him luck, but OU football is better than that.

What happened was inexcusable, but if a woman hits a man, why is that not assault? There should be two arrests there.

Sounds like it's time for higher standards in financial aid

There are grade stipulations, why can't there be behavior expectations? Say one felony and you're out? One misdemeanor pass (plenty of good folks make mistakes, perhaps even Mixon?) and two you are gone. Yeah I know there are tons of variance in legal systems from state to state and the NCAA doesn't want to take on the issue, but something has to be done to bring some objectivity to it. Recipients of financial aid SHOULD be held to minimum academic and legal expectations higher than that on the general student population in my opinion.

Easily, but there's a reason it was a plea deal.

It could be argued that one was self defense.

That tape is bad. He likely had a legal defense but common sense says the general public roasts your *** for knocking out a woman (and I agree). They didn't want that tape out and he took his medicine with the plea.

I kind of find it hard to condemn oklahomas actions for not dismissing him when we took Simmons. JMO.

It's a dispicable video tho, that's for sure.

Good question, especially considering how many people are pushing for "gender equality" and whatnot. They want it? Give 'em what they want. However, any man that would hit a woman is garbage in my opinion.

I don't consider a push a hit. She shoved him but dude barely moved. Maybe if a woman actually punches a dude in the face then all bets are off.

Especially if it's one of them big ol' manly broads.

So throw him out on the street?

How does that help society? I don't really understand the cutting him loose argument.

Cut him loose and OM or Auburn signs him tomorrow. Then they sign him and everyone bashes them. Why? Why can't the kid be mentored by adults and have structure?

There is no justification for the amount of force he used. There is also no justification for her shoving and slapping him. Both should've been charged.

No one said there is justification.

Should he not be allowed to play college football?

Is throwing him out in the street better?

No I didn't say that at all. He should definitely be allowed to stay on the team. I might suspended him a year and a half so it wasn't just his redshirt year he missed, but having adults whose job it is to discipline him around him and a team that will hold him accountable is better than throwing him on the street. The people who want that he never play football again couldn't give a **** about his past or future and are driven by a spirit of resentment, not a desire to educate or rehabilitate.

Because she's no threat to him. If a 12 year old boy punched you, would you crush his face too?

Why not throw him out? Is he not old enough to learn there's serious consequences for egregious actions such as this?

Lets not assume her pronouns...

but maybe some legal minded dogs can advise on the situation? Obviously this dude is a huge piece of **** but from what I can tell she shoved him, he flexed on her, she slapped him and then he threw a punch. So would an assault charge hold up? Is it based on force or because she's a woman?

I dunno just need to know the legal limit before I start swinging on gals in Oklahoma.

Let's see if I can translate:

She comes storming into the cafe at 2:00 AM, a time all "adults" have concluded that nothing good happens, unless you are working or sleeping.

She had about 15 drinks with her boyfriend, Joe Mixon, who had toked a few, making him feel like "Superman" and Satan's gift to women! (Hate the reference of "God's gift to women").

Outside, he is talking to a couple of ***** hos he met night before, setting up plans for later. His main squeeze, Blondie, is observing all this and goes off on him in front of his homies. Mr. football hero, says: " Naw *****, that sh't ain't hapnin out heah." I am yo man and you do what I say cause you know dat thing be good to to tight ***."

So she storms back in to the table, steaming that this pos thinks he can walk all over her. He comes back in to make sure she understands who is boss and tells her "I can 17 whoever I want *****!" ( He actually uses 17 because he reads sixpack regularly).

She goes all period and sh't on him, pushes him and slaps him and says: "naw, you MY man!" So he says " I am MY own man and I don't take sh't from no blonde ho from Texas! BAM! Die *****!"

He drops the hammer!

Shows over. Peace. Out!

Agreed. People can't go around assaulting each other. Gender is irrelevant. Throw both their trash asses in jail. Football is secondary and yes the parralels with Simmons are not unnoticed.

Define no threat. If a woman swings at me, I would see that as a threat, as should the law. Her intent was to harm, as was his. People just can't go around swinging at other people and dismiss their actions because of their gender.

If you walk into a diner and insult a young man for being a homosexual, his female friend may become upset. If she does you should not be surprised and you probably shouldn't break her jaw in four places so she has to have it wired shut for six months.

Try to remember that the young lady and her family are lifelong alumni and fans of your university and you will be taking that from them because you didn't like something about the young man she was with.

Probably true in most states, not just Oklahoma.

This one is pretty clear to me. He followed them in that diner and confronted them. Then he hit her. I would say he is totally at fault here. Seems like he started AND ended it.

How many folks that look like Molitor and her gay friend do you see walking around college campuses starting crap with big football players? The answer is ZERO.

This guy is at fault.

What is all this "young man" and "young lady" talk? Do you really think these thugs see life the way you do? All they know is to take by force. You are giving them way too much credit. The only way you get through to them is blunt force (define it however you like).

Never once said anything about the football side of this. Football and legal matters are different issues.

You don't think there shouldn't be some level of common sense? As in he knows she has no chance of harming him with her bare hands. Not this woman to that man.

It's irrelevant what either thinks. People regardless of sex should not strike other people and if they do, the law should enforce it equally. Intent is a big deal according to the law. She shouldn't go unpunished simply because she isn't as good at inflicting harm compared to him especially when she both pushed and struck him as the instigator. Again, I'm not discussing the impact of his actions on the team, just how the law should treat their actions.

For argument's sake

If she scratches his eye, it could cause serious damage. Not much force needed, just well aimed fingernails.

Lmao yea I guess you got me there.

Also, That shove could have hit a pressure point and he could have fainted, hitting his head on the floor which could cause some serious brain bleeding that if untreated, could result in death.

Yea.
