I did not have Moreno going in the 1st round and leaving our team as possibly our most consistent player on my bingo card.

If Moreno would have had a PG and more than just Dioubate down in the paint he would have had a far better season than he had. Jelavic and Garrison were highly inconsistent and by season's end Moreno was simply worn tf down.
Great point. Aberdeen did his best but he's not a point guard and it's almost impossible for a big to do great without it.

He's not physical at all and has shown no ability to consistently hit a 12-15 foot shot.

How?

duke lacrosse did less damage to duke mbball, U6 did less damage to lullville than this offseason has done to UK mbball. You can point fingers why- idc- this offseason has tanked UK mbball.
That Duke Lacrosse thing was an absolute disgrace and a sham. As much as we hate Duke, you have to feel for the kids there.

The U6 thing was legitimately a scandal.

He was tearing it up to start. Definitely hit a wall towards the end. Gave it his all and balled out. Love that kid.

In the NIL age being a potential late first round pick means there is a good possibility of falling into the 2nd round and losing tens of millions of dollars over the next several years. No worries.
This is the logical thinking, and I agree it'd be better for Malachi financially to come back. But there's also the fact that every good player wants to get as far away from Pope as fast as possible.

I agree somewhat but man I don’t want to get beat by 40 every game next year. This could be soooooo bad.
It's going to make betting impossible. Like this year, I ate off UK having that overrated preseason rank -- you would be able to triple your money for a good team beating them by 10. Next year? You'll barely make 50% profit off betting on them to lose by 40.

If he declares, Lordy, what a season it will be! I believe he will do very well in the combine, boom, gone.
I've always thought this was more of a possibility than what our local media made it out to be.
He's looking at this roster just like we are. There some things that'll help him (Zoom/McBride specifically) but if he gets a 1st round guarantee, I would expect him to leave. He'll be a major focal point of the scout against us next year, unlike this year and there is no Otega type of guy who you can reliably say can just go "get a bucket" to relieve pressure from him.

Moreno leaving will be next years left handed pg excuse. "Our whole offense was built around a first round nba center"
Tell me how many teams would have won the championship without their starting point guard, no backup point guard to replace him. Aberdeen was not and is not a point guard. And who also lost 2 other top 8 players. That's 3 of the top 8 out. 2 almost the entire year and the other the final 2 months. Can wait to see this long list of schools since you think injuries is just a weak excuse.

Won't he probably be making more $$$ playing for us this year ??
Yes, and if he falls into the 2nd round he'll make less than $2mil next year and then could get cut after the first year if he doesn't look good in the G League since 2nd round contracts aren't always guaranteed after the first year. Then he could be looking at making a half million on a 2 way contract the next year versus making $4mil in college. Unless a player in his situation gets a first round guarantee from a team, staying in the draft is too big a financial risk for a rational player to take.
