Mark Pope is the worst thing to ever happen to UK basketball.
Is this gonna be another McBride situation? Never the first option with Pope, always a panic to Pivot.
It likely commits the school to 2 years. But I haven't seen a situation where the athlete is locked out of the portal or the NBA. I haven't read if any buyouts, which would logically flow from actual 2 way contracts.

The man who put Pope in this position is the worst thing to ever happen to UK Basketball. Bozo Barnhart gets ZERO credit for hiring Cal. Powerful alums and former players forced his hand there. And then, in true Barnhart fashion, he even managed to screw that up by agreeing to a ridiculous "lifetime contract" at a time when the writing was on the wall that Cal's best days here were behind him.

I have seen no correlation between "length of time recruited by Pope" and "likelihood to commit to Pope".
At the end of the day Pope knows that if he doesn't land this one it's probably a wrap.. The hole has officially become too deep. If he was running a business the Board would be searching for a new leader.
