The weekend came and went without any news on the Milan Momcilovic front. Kentucky has been the presumed leader since Momcilovic withdrew from the draft last week, but he has yet to make a move from the transfer portal. Big Blue Nation hoped the news of a commitment would come last Thursday, then Friday, then, surely, by the end of the weekend. However, here we are on Monday morning, wondering how and why Mark Pope hasn’t closed the deal on the best available player in college basketball.
Adding to the tension, Louisville is Kentucky’s competition in the Momcilovic sweepstakes, with Arizona also in the mix. Kentucky reportedly has the higher offer on the table, but Pat Kelsey’s pitch still has Momcilovic mulling over his decision, which could come at any time.

Whatever we pay Milan add 75% of $5-$6 million for the additional buyout that will inevitably be paid to Pope. Milan, if we get him, will cost UK around $11.5 million (assuming a S16 season).
I believe JmI does us no favor as it adds another level of red tape but its not "the" reason. Its Pope coming off as an out of touch quirky dude and having no level of success either in his career or getting kids in league - os the main reason. I just keep hearing how its all JMI fault.
If the UK offer is the highest, as has been reported almost everywhere, based on your options it would seem that the issue is Pope & Staff. Although I think you are leaving out a very loud 3 option, BBN. The passion regularly spills over into negative comments(see any recruiting thread). There is in-fighting amongst fans, bashing players, bashing coaches. Players don't read these boards, but you better believe that smart recruiters at other schools do. BBN is a blessing and a curse.
I'm not ready to buy that. Negative recruiting is very real but an oppositing coach would point out the reason for fan dissatisfaction, i.e. a coach not living up to expectations, moreso than the fans themselves. If all you have for leverage is to focus on a passionate fan base, you ain't got much to offer.
Been away from here this morning. Doesn't look like there's been any real update? It's looking more and more like Milan is really struggling with this decision. He probably would prefer to go to one school, but the money is better at the other school. A lot of guys end up taking a little less to go to their preferred program. Does Milan do that or does he take the money? Who knows, but he's probably going to be fine financially either way
Many of these deals have seemed to go south when they sat down to finalize the details. I remember reading that “most” of the issues with JMI were corrected but what problems are the ones that didn’t causing?

At first it made sense to wait to announce to maybe wring more money out the programs but with rumors of offer as high as 7-9 million I don’t know how much more these programs can offer. So I no longer understand waiting and wouldn’t be surprised if he committed td. I heard rumors of waiting till the 1st for incentives and at first it sounded stupid but now it makes the most sense Ig? Idk

I hope he picks UK but I’m afraid it’s not going to happen. Our program is down right now but it won’t stay that way. Popes going to have to get better or UK will move on. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
