Well most of this tournament went to how I thought it would go.

I figured it be Akron vs Kent State for the right to play Miami OH for the championship.

Got half of it right.

All the players can do is beat who is put in front of them. Miami did that 31 straight times. Simple as that. They deserve to be in.

Hopefully they'll be safely in, but I could imagine they would sell out UD Arena if they get in the First Four as one of the last at large teams.

Auburn had 21 chances against Q1/Q2 teams. They won 7 and have a Q3 loss. They don't deserve **** other than someone telling them to stfu. Enjoy the NIT.

There’s always a certain amount of tension at tournament selection time between wanting to reward winning and the undeniable fact that not all wins are anywhere close to equal in college basketball. This Miami team really takes that debate to a new extreme though.

I’ll go on the record that they quite frankly aren’t that good. They were incredibly lucky to stay undefeated as long as they did when it seemed like they were having a game decided at the buzzer against a different underwhelming opponent every week, and the metrics back that up with them barely being top 100 despite the superficially impressive record. They definitely wouldn’t be favored head to head against Auburn or any other power conference bubble team you want to name. Probably not even against some teams who are below the bubble. The fact that there’s a reasonable argument for leaving them out at 31-1 is absolutely bonkers.

Yeah. They have no Q1 wins and only two Q2 wins. A lot of people are blinded by 31-1, but digging into the metrics shows that they are simply not good enough to make it outside of an auto-bid.

And they absolutely deserve to be in Dayton if they get in. And will get beat if they play a power 4 team.
