A running back broke a long one on our defensive line/linebackers/safeties?

stop the presses

(I completely forgot about the game again and missed it)
Front 7 is undersized and slow. No different than last year. There is some talent in the back end.

OL looked ok.
Colandrea was meh.

Wrs looked like hot garbage outside of the one catch from Clark.

RBs looked ok. Rhule and Nelson look to be our top options.

Yeah. Pretty tough to gauge much but Rule and Coleandra looked the part. Good to get the new guys snaps in a somewhat game setting. Colandrea did look like the top QB. Just a scrimmage but I liked how Booth moved the pile against stacked boxes. Ives looked quicker but I think he’s down the depth chart. Liked seeing a little I formation power in the redzone.

Colandrea has accuracy issues and doesn't have a strong arm. He has very good mobility, but turnovers will be an issue.

Threw some nice balls. Missed badly on some deep throws. Not sure if the wind was a factor. Threw in to traffic that led to an INT. Never a dull moment. The sacks he took would have likely been chunk plays if not for the touch rule on QBs.

Rhule is a RB now? Our roster has truly gone to sh*t.

There are no punt returns in the spring game the returner is told to call a fair catch.
Yes, that’s fine. The point is you still teach the returners to get away from the ball inside the 5 or 10. You allow crap in practice, the same thing will happen when the pressure is on. It’s an example why we see so many WTH moments in games…

Today's conditions are what he will face come November. I wasn't impressed outside of his mobility.

WR's disappointed, but a lot of throws were just as bad. This game was kind of a nothing burger until the run game could get established. Colandrea is gonna have to reign in his mobile throws. Lateef and Kaelin disappointed. Ja Rule did great.

Thats really about it.

People bitched about hype. This what you get if you don’t advertise your product. I suspect the people who traveled to OKC stayed home. The early start prevented me from going.
If I hadn't gotten a room, we would have blown it off. Tickets are cheap and it was cold and windy this morning. The Mrs was not thrilled but she soldiered on because of the idiot she married

Yeah I'm surprised there's that many, it's cold and windy and we're going into Year 4 with the same coach. Not really anything exciting to draw people to watch a scrimmage.

Im at a softball tournament a couple miles from the stadium. Miserable day.

My thoughts..

I thought the energy from the players during the tunnelwalk was weird.. I later realized why I think.

Colandrea is what I expect. The interception I'm not sure was his fault.. the receiver tipped it away from himself, but I liked his spark and energy.

TJ, not impressed. He is still in his 'kid' body.. if that makes sense.

I like what I see in DK and his #12 jersey too. Danny physically looks like he's ready.

Freshman RB looks #1 to me. He looks like a real deal, runs a bit with his hair on fire. I like him.

Physically, Ives could be a battering ram, but he runs like a *****. If you could inject that Kid with some Aggression to just go run someone over, Ives physically could do that. I don't know what is with him though.

The post game interview with the defensive coordinator gave me Satterfield 'hick' vibes.. it's not important, but it's the kind of ppl Matt likes to hire. Dana is one too. Speaking of which, i liked the emphasis on running the ball early, and we even got a few no look syle pitch plays.. no doubt due to my excellent woman's rugby thread. ;)

I don't think we are a team yet.. these guys are still learning each other, so it's only going to get better from here on out. We could end up pretty good.

Which is just another example of how and why this staff sucks. There are only so many practice reps allowed. Why not not take advantage of every opportunity to work on the finer points. It’s a different atmosphere and a valuable rep. Is our punt returner some uber elite athlete, the key to our offensive success next season, in contention for postseason individual awards, and a sure high round draft pick? No? Then let him return a punt in practice months before the season starts. So maybe he will be a little better when it matters.

I don't need hype for a Spring game to get me interested, I need a quality team and sound leadership. If Cignetti was our coach does anyone think we need to hype the Spring game? No. And we shouldn't need to hype today's game. Today's attendance is a reflection of fans faith in Rhule to turn it around.

No hype for me means I don't need Rhule's stupid motto "Chasing 3." (Wasn't exactly "Restore the Order" was it?) Chasing 3 failed more than the uniform #'s 0-9 he has tried. And the dramatic videos put out. The guy is a hype machine. I'm guessing someone told him to knock it off. So here we are. But please, don't try and convince me today's attendance is because NU didn't hype the game. I just don't see that as being the key reason. Down the list of reasons? Sure, a little bit.

If our Administration has an ounce of leadership among them, they have the contingency plan on the table (cost of a buyout, list of potential coaches, etc) in case this thing goes south. I hope Rhule surprises me and we kick some butt. But my hope-meter is running out of juice.

the staff might turn out okay.. i think we got a lot better at some positions..

to me, you have to kind of separate what the coaches & coordinators are doing with that of the HC & AD.. we can still have a good team in spite of Rhule & Dannen.

I can't watch or listen Matt talk anymore, he spits constantly or when talking he speaks like a battered man.. I'm horrified and also repulsed at the same time.

Ives might be the worst RB to get snaps at NU in the last 50 years. Barthel literally has recruited one good rb in 4 years

Our dline is again slow and undersized. It will be a long and brutal season for NU this fall.

i thought everyone looked slow, and wasn't sure if it was the goofy helmet covers or what
Our defense doesn't have much talent in the front 7. Rhule has struggled now that's Frost's players are gone.

Rhule doesn't know how to develop or recruit DLine.

I am looking forward to our next coaching search!

surprised more aren’t honestly
I can't wait...Hopefully it is not some lame *** tired coach. Please go talk to the Indiana asst coaches. See if one of them is interested. I know fans will lose their mind because they are young and have not been a head coach but rhule is old and has been a head coach and he can't do it.

I didn't watch the Spring game, but do you really think this team is better? What, .. like if they replayed Utah we would only lose 44-29 instead of 44-22? It was less than 3 months ago and we still have pretty much the same stupid staff. I dont buy it. Let me know when the boys get rid of their x-box's, ps5's, pipes and vape pens too.

To improve significantly, they would have never stopped practicing and we all know that wasn't the case.

Yeah, I'm not buying any bullsh-t this offseason.

I saw a RB get stuffed, a pass batted down and another couple plays plus the interception, but I'm not usually watching the defense

I do think we could be a much better team than what we had last year. I think we have much better offensive line coach, and results so far.. I know there are guys that specialize in this better than me, but to me, the line looks good, the holes were there and the pass pro was adequade from what I could tell.

But no, not today they were not a better team.. it's a group of players right now that haven't gelled yet. I really do think we can be allright. Let the coordinators coach their deal.. I'm behind all those guys who are doing the real football.

Honestly I was hoping someone who watched or maybe someone in the press will tell me about "that guy." How fun it was to read the press's impression of Randy Gregory showing up for the first time? The press was like "Um, Nebraska fans - get ready. This guy is different. Or LaVonte showing up to practice, or even Micah Parsons at FNL. Beasts. Game-changers. We all want the kid from McCook (my dad and grandpa's hometown) to make it and we love homegrown kids starting for Big Red. But where's the crazy game-changer(s)?

Sigh.... Still hoping.

Did you guys win?
If not, did you at least manage to get the right number of players on the field?

We don't have game changers on defense. Offense will have to carry this team.

We need to run the ball control the clock and get Colandrea out of the pocket. Anything to keep our defense off the field. Basically we need to play like Minnesota, but I have zero faith in Rhule to get that done.

Colandrea will be a very average QB. We needed a difference maker QB transfer and, of course, we whiffed. Colandrea has been a turnover machine at his previous stops. Going to be a long year.

But remember that "Bo couldn't recruit" that was the mantra of all the Bo-haters.

David will be in the HOF
RG was a first round pick (almost)
I think he still has a DT playing in the NFL
