Wikipedia doesn't agree with you. My own memory doesn't agree with you.
LOL there isn’t even a reference on that false statement by wiki.

Nebraska has recruited Martinez as an ‘athlete’ but has told The Times’ Glenn Davis Award winner that he would have a chance to compete for the quarterback spot.

Do you want more links, our will you decide to trust your bad memory and a wiki claim with zero references.....

Which is just another example of how and why this staff sucks. There are only so many practice reps allowed. Why not not take advantage of every opportunity to work on the finer points. It’s a different atmosphere and a valuable rep. Is our punt returner some uber elite athlete, the key to our offensive success next season, in contention for postseason individual awards, and a sure high round draft pick? No? Then let him return a punt in practice months before the season starts. So maybe he will be a little better when it matters.
There is literally very few if any that go live on Punts in their spring game. The teams are usually split enough so they can’t get their ST units together.

If our Administration has an ounce of leadership among them, they have the contingency plan on the table (cost of a buyout, list of potential coaches, etc) in case this thing goes south. I hope Rhule surprises me and we kick some butt. But my hope-meter is running out of juice.
I figured out that somewhere between Pelini and Frost, the goal of the administration shifted from competing for championships to making certain that the football program simply turns enough profit to fund the athletic dept and fund a certain percentage of university programs. As long as this is happening, the administration is not going to do anything differently.

I forgot the game was on and haven’t watched it yet. I heard we found a way to beat ourselves once again though. 😂

This coincided with the move from the Big 12 to the Big Ten. It reflects the leadership of those conferences. The prior conference was focused on winning. The Big Ten is focused on the money. ( remember the asinine move to 9 league games? that was all to get more tv revenue ) In fact, that is all the Big Ten cares about and so the upper leadership at Nebraska has changed it's views to match. The problem is the fans are checking out and frankly dying off. Perhaps the leadership feels they don't need the fan base anymore, but they are destroying the cash cow in the process.

What bad takes. The conference had won the last 3 national titles but the focus is only on money

Conference had 5 basketball teams in the elite 8, bout the focus is only on money.
Bad takes.

This just in the every power 4 conference is playing 9 games now and that is about making money because the fans want to see those type of games.

I was in total shock as I watched the game. To me the stadium looked empty and except for the kids ( God bless their hearts ) being excited most of the others looked sad. I saw no promotion of the event, and it has me wondering about how badly the school will do managing NIL now that 1890 is gone? You can almost feel the program crumbling before your eyes.

I think Quinn Clark needs to see the field more. Rule looked like the real deal. O line might be better. But what made my day was seeing Illinois curb stomp the Iowa Shiteeyes. A crap program like Iowa belongs in the NIT. Loved seeing them cower and fold in the second half and see their inbred fans melt. Life is good indeed.

It was pure gold watching them shoot brick after brick on their 3 point attempts especially late in the game

We don't have game changers on defense. Offense will have to carry this team.

We need to run the ball control the clock and get Colandrea out of the pocket. Anything to keep our defense off the field. Basically we need to play like Minnesota, but I have zero faith in Rhule to get that done.
The defense is learning an entirely new scheme and they’re only a dozen or so practices in to it. They started off well with some of the blitz packages they showed early on and then they backed off that. I’m not sure how they divided reps on defense and without names on jerseys it was tough to say who was in the mix. It’s a scrimmage. I’ll worry about it next fall.

Colandrea will be a very average QB. We needed a difference maker QB transfer and, of course, we whiffed. Colandrea has been a turnover machine at his previous stops. Going to be a long year.
7 win teams usually don’t land the top transfer portal QBs. We had about a dozen practices. Coleandra and Kaelin have all summer now to work with their WRs and to drill Dana’s offense. I loved Coleandra’s speed and elusiveness. I think that will make a difference for our offense. If he can control his INTs, he’s going to be a weapon.

He’s right

B1G is by far the most top-heavy conference and that’s largely because 2/3 of the league is happy cashing checks instead of going all in to win

that’s why all the talent is concentrated into 4 schools with comically bloated payrolls in this league while it’s spread out everywhere else

27,000 people show up for a televised scrimmage on a cold brutally windy March day and apathy is high? 🙄
Hard to know. I see your point weather wise. It is easy to remember seeing the stadium full for the spring game, but I am sure your right on the temp, wind and weather factoring in. It was just a shocking visual to see that many empty seats.

Doesn't that make it MORE impressive?

He was recruited as an athlete that played QB in HS, then spent a year practicing on defense AND then become a first team all conference QB.
He was California POY his senior year. All stories I heard were stating NU was only big time school offering TM a chance to play QB. I heard this more than once from more than one source.

Not sure where Bend is getting his info, but I do not believe him.

edit: I see this has been discussed prior to my response.

Regardless, the point was that "apathy is high" and it is. And anyone who doesn't realize that is living in a fantasy world. Which that particular poster often does.

I drive that bus

and it’s a fact - B1G is the most top heavy by far because only 1/3 of the league tries to win

you honestly think we’re spending every dime we have on football? No chance

have fun rooting for the child molesters again today!

personally I think it’d be hilarious for the B1G to get 4 to the elite 8 only to see 1 final 4 team and zero finalists. Classic B1G loserdom.

Purdue got gaped like a Rhule-era Penn st fan’s poor innocent child last night.

@HBK4life_rivals100467 started crying when they lost, he is jealous of Matt painters figure.

Read the rule book official was supposed to wait till he came on the floor after checking in.
It was an interesting cluster. Berke subbed in for Frager. Rienk thought he was the one subbing out. Officials generally hold the ball until 5 are on the floor...but once the second horn sounds a player is not allowed to sub back in. Not sure if Rienk was ever officially subbed out. I still think it lies on some assistant coach who is supposed to make sure everyone knows who is in and who is guarding who.

Wait

You also think the B1G had 5 elite 8 teams?
No. I was having fun with 4 and 5 team confusion in the thread. Figured it would be fun to jab you all with the fact that you couldn't manage the 4 or 5 player thing..
How does that happen? There's only 5 guys. Shouldn't they all have a pretty good idea of their responsibilities coming out of a timeout?

Maybe you should get your quotes correct first.. if you're going to quote someone.

Next, what other conferences did after we went to 9 games is irrelevant. the original move to make the entire league less competitive was done for more tv money, and you can't really argue that any other way.. It's what Delany did. Then the next conference commissioner wanted to shut down the football season as they sided with liberal lockdowns, while other conferences were calling bs and playing football. This is like the basic stuff that most fans can see with their eyes.

Warren was a douche and B1G presidents were all afraid of getting sued, we can agree on that.

Don’t see your logic playing 9 games was a bad idea, any fan wants to see better games played and why not do it in your own conference which had 14 teams already in it.

This. I don’t care what the sunshine pumpers say. Our football program is dying before our eyes. Apathy is very high. Rhule is not the answer. And we don’t have the NIL money to compete for the top athletes. And after 10+ years of total suckitude we can’t recruit the better athletes out of high school either. We are a has been program with great facilities that nobody outside of Lincoln cares about.
A few people on here are down on me because of my relentless pessimism of late. Tough sh$t. This is our reality and more and more fans are waking up to that fact. We know that Rhule needs to be fired. We know that we need a huge influx of cash to buy Rhule out, hire a proven coach, and buy a $50 million roster. And since we know none of that is going to happen, it breeds the pessimism you see.
People on here thinking that Coleandra is our ticket to success ignore the fact that we are still a bottom half of the pack B1G team on both of our lines. Our historic dominance was based upon strong lines. Heck, that is true of all really good teams. Newsflash: that ain’t us now.
But we went to a bowl game two years in a row!! Progress! My God, do you hear yourselves? Seriously? If you want evidence of the full reality of who we really are right now just play that mantra on repeat over and over.
Bowl games two years in a row!!
