Thank you for the advice Father.Hmmm. Need to read some scripture to her. There’s some pretty specific language regarding your issue.

I'm just working with what he said. He didn't seem to disagreeI think your rationale is flawed.
Fine, Christianity. How could I know? Did you say it at one point? If so, I don't remember, and what does it matter if I did? What's the hesitancy about? You think marriage is about survival / selfishness more than it is about morality? Ok. Survival, for humanity, is dependent upon it, but selfishness? That seems super weird. So does suggesting marriage is disassociated from morality, if that is what you are in fact suggesting. And my religion certainly doesn't keep me stuck in fear.
There are varying practices of Christianity, none of which (that I am aware of) have filicide as a central tenant. Yeah, sounds like marriage is a good thing, for numerous reasons. Still not sure how morality plays into it, except to suggest that the concept of traditional marriage (monogamy) is moral (don't tell SBF).Fine, Christianity.
Marriage throughout history has been about survival. Survival for families, communities, etc. It allowed heirs to inherit and have structure. It was merged into a moral code and codified to reinforce its usefulness. Selfishness isn't always a bad thing. Again, instinct tells us to survive. Better to team up if possible.
I don't know the ideal setup but marriage has its purpose and structural use, except for ones who aren't married.
there are pros and cons of marriage IMO. The biggest pro being for stability. Arranged marriages were very common and marrying for love was not embraced until recently. Romeo and Juliette was a cautionary tale against marrying for love/romance.There are varying practices of Christianity, none of which (that I am aware of) have filicide as a central tenant. so true.. arranged marriages were very much the norm.. it also made an allowance so that the young inexperienced person did not make a big mistake.. this was also true of many kids having their careers picked for them by their parents. When you are young, you don't even know what you don't know and there are too many options for people today.. too many chances to screw up, because all the decision making is being put on an inexperienced person.there are pros and cons of marriage IMO. There might be a better system available. who knows?
Maybe you ought to take some time to reconnect with her.Jesus Tapdancing Christ there are seriously people that say their wife is their best friend?!
Sometimes I think my marriage is horrible, but that would be SO MUCH WORSE than what I’m rolling with.
Men and women only have so many things in common. I am skeptical that men and women were meant to be best friends.Maybe you ought to take some time to reconnect with her.
HARD PASS.Maybe you ought to take some time to reconnect with her.
HARD PASS.

Since I''m admittedly not into structured religion, I'll leave you with this.Thank you for the advice Father.
I mean, it is the fantasy to be best friends with your wife but that doesn't seem to be the norm.

Women would also have multiple partners in that scenario. What percentage of men would remain monogamous if it wasn't socially taboo to have multiple partners?
What percentage of women would care if their husband was monogamous if she didn't have to rely on him for stability? How much of one's reaction would be do to upbringing/expectations?
Being monogamous as a guy is to deny one's nature and is a sacrifice. So we bite the bullet and simply start threads about yoga pants and tits.
It isn’t taboo, this ain’t 1960. More chicks graduate from college than guys these days. Monogamy isn’t difficult. You’ve never been more wrong. Keep goingWhat percentage of men would remain monogamous if it wasn't socially taboo to have multiple partners?

showing that humans really aren't monogamous.Women would also have multiple partners in that scenario.
Natural assumption, considering who she is married toI assume she is!
it is still taboo in our society. If it isn't prohibited, it sure is not tolerated to any real degree. It isn’t taboo, this ain’t 1960. More chicks graduate from college than guys these days. Monogamy isn’t difficult. You’ve never been more wrong. Keep going

it is not acceptable to be open about it, and no one is really accepting of the idea. It challenges too many held beliefs/emotions.Its not socially taboo to have multiple partners. Thats the norm..
Thats like 30 years ago.
Lol...man you need to get out the house more. Women have no problem expressing their sexual habits anymore. Being promiscuous is literally celebrated now.it is not acceptable to be open about it, and no one is really accepting of the idea. It challenges too many held beliefs/emotions.
This confuses me. Celebrated and also shamed?Lol...man you need to get out the house more. Women have no problem expressing their sexual habits anymore. Being promiscuous is literally celebrated now.
There is a reason slut shaming is a thing.
yet still a big negative connotation to it. hence the shaming.Lol...man you need to get out the house more. Women have no problem expressing their sexual habits anymore. Being promiscuous is literally celebrated now.

I think it's pretty telling that every country and society that exists had marriage as a fundamental institution. It's unprecedented in recent history the dissolution of marriage as an institution and it's pretty scary to think what the implications might be. We're already seeing the consequences play out on that. Birth rates are plummeting and are well below replacement. The top 10% of men are getting almost all of the attention from women and society and the bottom 90% are expendable. We wonder why young men are dropping out of the workforce or committing violent crime and that's a good chunk of the reason right there.was marriage designed to evolve society? was marriage successful in making America one of the greatest nations in history? does marriage require religion to be successful? does the absence of religion mean less marriage? with less marriage is there an inevitable degradation of society?

It wasn't until relatively recently that marriages were so often dissolved due to this behavior.
Do you know what slut shaming means?
Serious question.
Men who had great resources or stature not the average man.
