They were the only team to beat Duke this season at full strength. Let me remind you, Duke beat us by 34 and it could have been 50.
He'll never leave the WCC for a power conf. He's figured out he can job the polls by beating up cupcakes while the rest have to face ranked conf opponents. This allows Zags to frog hop the rankings and get over seeded which almost assures S16's and E8's.
Few is one of the best in the business.
I’m not sure how old you are, but Gonzaga was a joke until he got there.
He will have them in the hunt again next season also.
Kev... u know I love you, man... but if I hear one more poster bring up that beat down again in a condescending way ...I may go all kev69 on you. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:They were the only team to beat Duke this season at full strength. What a stupid conspiracy. They won’t leave the wcc for a power conference because they don’t play football so no one will have them in. They’re not gonna join the big east when their closest road game is at creighton in Omaha Nebraska. Remember they’re a tiny private school with a small budget and have other sports to consider besides hoops
Somebody's stupid [winking]
I wasn't talking about Zags leaving the WCC, was talking about Few leaving.

This is what I think. He's a good coach . Never know how good because he's gonna stay in that **** conference and win 26-30 games every year , and appear dominate , Would love to see him decide to challenge his own self and come east .
I gave it one for youIf I could "like" a post more than once, this one deserves it.
It’s not easy anywhere but a “few” still manage to do it.I’m definitely right.
The slobbering by anyone over Few and Gonzaga just makes me laugh. Yeah, he's gotten them to an Elite 8 (lost) and a championship game (once), but aside from a bunch of round of 32 and S16s, that's all he's done since he's been there for what seems like 50 years (actually 20). Yet people talk about how awesome he is.
You know who's awesome? Calipari. Took UMASS from nothing to something within a few years. Took Memphis from nothing to something within a very few years. Pulled UK out of the BCG crapper and had us in the Elite 8 in his first year, and is on the brink of having us in the Final Four 5 times in 10 years. And he's done it in a Power 5 conference.
If Few is so damned awesome, why did it take him so long to get to the upper echelon of college hoops (took him 15 years to get to the Elite 8 or better)? He's a coach who averages maybe a Sweet 16 or even round of 32, with his biggest success coming the past 4 years.
So is he a good coach? Yes, he's decent. But he's far from awesome.

Agree. Not unless he goes somewhere tougher (conference-wise) and proves he can win, but even then, I have a hard time seeing our Cats without Calipari - the day he hangs it up will be a dark day for me, and I simply don't know of anyone that can take his place. And people want him if Cal leaves. No thank you, I want a coach that relishes playing a tough schedule and preparing the team for a tough run at a NC.
Actually, he didn't - someone above said he took over for the guy (Monson?) that turned them into somebody. And for 15 years he was a first or second weekend at best coach (S16 was his ceiling until 2015).Few turned a nobody into somebody but he’s also done that by virtue of beating a whole bunch of nobodies.

And yet no other coach of any other mid major team has been able to come close to accomplishing what he has accomplished. Why is that? Seriously, that wasn’t a rhetorical question; why has no other coach of a mid major program been able to replicate what Few has done if it’s so “easy”? Throughout his career he has turned on the head coaching gig at Indiana, Oregon and UCLA. He’s not going anywhere. But he does really need your validation so he will try harder to please you. He's a product of a ****** conference if you ask me .. I would like to see him at a big time school just to see what he can really do ..
Yea I forgot about the first guy, maybe because Few has been there so long. But he has continued to elevate Gonzaga from what they originally were.Actually, he didn't - someone above said he took over for the guy (Monson?) that turned them into somebody. This is absolutely true. The national media always fall for it. I think this season was somewhat an exception to the rule, but this is the game Few plays, and he knows it works. The national media and the selection committee won't downplay Gonzaga's accomplishments because the "little guy" is hard to put down. He'll never leave the WCC for a power conf. And to the guy saying people here are afraid of Gonzaga, that's not even close to right. I think what Few has done there is nothing short of amazing. He has made a powerhouse out of a pin cushion. He's made a perennial power out of a WCC team and the media and everyone else buys it every season.
Play some token P5 teams early on, when you've got juniors and seniors coming back and they're breaking in freshmen and sophomores, then go beat up your cupcakes racking up a pile of wins and everyone else is playing tough conference foes and taking some hard losses. You move up the rankings and ratings and others fall. You get a 1 seed and guarantee yourself an Elite 8 by beating 1 decent team since the beginning of December. It's genius. Why go anywhere?
I will take Calipari, Willliams, and Self just off the top of my head.Would not take any coach over Few in the country.

Really. Has won at all levels. Been to a final four. Several Elite eights. I guess you think if a coach can't win the NCAA title they can't coach. Name 10 coaches that have more success than him in college.what is your opinion of Mark Few? I always thought he was one step away from a coaching job at a big time university. But he seems to not be able to coach effectively when it matters.
I couldn't give 2 ***** myself.. But he'll never win a title where he's at.. Same ol same ol every year.. Get a top seed and squander it..And yet no other coach of any other mid major team has been able to come close to accomplishing what he has accomplished. Why is that? 99 percent of midmajor coaches leave for better jobs. What Few has done is terrific but it gets old watching them get high seeds without playing a good schedule. You would think he could accidentally make 3 or 4 final 4s in 20 years with the talent he brings in and keeps multiple years. And yet no other coach of any other mid major team has been able to come close to accomplishing what he has accomplished. If Arizona dumps Miller due to the Adidas fiasco, that might be a job Few would seriously consider. If he's going to go big conference, a good way to do it is to take a job in the weakest of them all, the Pac 12, to break himself in and appear to prove all the doubters wrong (we'd still be saying "yeah, but you moved to the freaking Pac 12!).Few will probably be offered the UCLA job. He'll turn it down.
In 20 full seasons at Gonzaga, Few has been to two E8s and one FF (runner up) - all of those coming in the past 5 years. So either it took him 15 years to learn how to coach, or all the media hype of Gonzaga has recruits looking there more than they ever did before.Really. Has won at all levels. Been to a final four. Several Elite eights. I guess you think if a coach can't win the NCAA title they can't coach. Name 10 coaches that have more success than him in college.
