Marcus Carr is a me first guy playing for a team first coach. We will see who wins that battle.

Texas has definitely won the transfer game this year. Disu, Mitchel, Timmy Allen, and now Carr. Dam. They will be a tough out with all that talent. I really wish we would have gone after Timmy Allen, Mitchel, or Disu. Especially if we don't add another big, basically Duren.
The next 5 years are going to be crucial for the future. If Kansas ends up landing beard they will probably replace us at some point unless we get lucky on an up and comer.

Thats because the best coaches know recruiting over players is the name of the game. If you’re not recruiting over players you’re not doing your job. Period.
Will be interesting to see how good Beard does at Texas. I don't hate the guy, just find his style boring...also don't love that he is a Knight disciple.

We lose double digit games just like he’s done 4 out of the past 5 years and only has one final four under his belt as well. I just can’t comprehend the thought process of guys on here thinking he’s even a good coach. He’s decent at best.He’s lost 14, 10, 7, 13 and 11 losses in the past 5 years, he’s lucky to have a job, period.
Idk Beard is great at getting lesser recruited players to come together and play above their heads. Getting elite talent to play like a team and mesh is a different beast. I mean it sounds easier but time has proven it's not always that simple.

Going to be interesting. Imo he has a tinge of a billy g feel to me. Doubt he'll crash that hard, but like you said I think he requires 100% buy in and many of these kids just won't give that in today's game

Beard is a good coach. He’d do a good job here. It would not be on a level like Cal the last 10 years though.
Cal was 9-16 last year. Cal hasn’t been to the final four since 2015.

It's a good recruiting start, but he still has to deliver. A lot of people talked about him being THE guy after that title game run.. but the year after they were on the verge of missing the tournament.. Last year they were ranked 13th preseason, wound up at a 6 seed and lost in the 2nd round. Beard is starting to look like many coaches who get one great squad, and ride that wave for a while. The greats are able to do it with multiple teams from multiple years.

Beard has been one of the best coaches in college basketball of late. The things he’s done at a doormat program are very good. He was an eye lash from a title and another final four. There is no similarity to Gillispie outside of the fact they both coached at TT.
Now he’s at Texas and he’s going to win. He’ll have a title eventually and I just hope he doesn’t end up at Kansas.

TTU was 18-13, and .500 in conference play, before Covid shut down their season. They absolutely needed to do work to make the tournament. Regardless, it was still a bad season for them. Then he fails to meet expectations again last year.

Cals final four at Umass was actually stripped to scandal. Beard hasn’t had any scandals that I’m aware of. And I’m not even talking about 30 years ago, so I don’t know why you went to Umass. Kind of shows you need to do some incredible brain twisting to bolster Cal.
