Didn’t thank BBN, which is pretty normal in these goodbye notes. Shows what many of thought all along about how he feels about the fans.

Keion: “Well Water, what do you think?”

Water: “Unfortunately sir, you have a rare case of Tinman’s disease, the NBA will eat you alive and spit you out.”

Keion: “Oh no, what can I do Water?”

Water: “Go back to UK for your Sr. season and try and grow a pair and then come back this time next year and test me again and I’ll let you know.”

Keion: “Gee, thanks for shooting me straight Water.”

Water: “Any time Tinman errrrrrrr Keion.”

Hires agent anyway.

I seem to be in the minority here but with as dwindled as our roster might look next year, I’d like to keep him. If nothing else just for depth. The downside is he should be an experienced 6th-7th man getting 15 mins a game but Cal will force him into the starter spot getting 30+.

I’ll never be upset about keeping Seniors with tons of college hoops experience though. On the off chance he can make a big jump in the off-season like Richards did, it could be huge. Worst case he’s better than some random Juco or whatever else we’re looking at.

Very curious where his draft stock might be …what kind of info do you guys think he would have to hear to predicate his return to UK ?

I think it's better he goes on and moves on....but I hate to lose roster continuity each year.. But if there is a spot on the entire roster we're over staffed...it is the PF spot. Brooks, Hopkins and Toppin's offensive skillset....they can't play the Center nor the SF well enough.

As far as Brooks next level skills....man I don't see how a guy like him fits in any universe. Can't shoot 3's well enough yet (but he could push his range out in due time), no handles and isn't a strong lock down defender. So I don't know what kind of basketball league has appeal for a 6'8 2 pt jump shooter who isn't a lock down defender.

I dont blame him. He should. But I also feel like hes been the same guy every year. Kenny Walker was saying that very thing on the postgame a few weeks ago I dont remember which game.

Id like to see him come back and improve the stuff he needs to improve. But I also question if that will happen because hes been given all manner of PT and really hasnt changed who he is from his freshman year.

Id like to see him back his senior and have that ball out year it feels like weve been expecting from him every year.
Well good for you…. and please don’t come back.

You all know that players declare so that they get evaluated by NBA personnel which allows him what they think he should work on in the off-season. With him about to be a senior, it would be wise to get feedback on what they are looking out for.

Best of luck to him. Wish him well at the next level, wherever that may be. Just never really lived up to his potential. Saw it in spurts, but no consistency. Seems like a great kid and I wish him the best of luck in whatever he does.

I mean I think most of us know he is not going to make the NBA this year. As some said he had no outside shot and has poor handles on his ball handling. He will be back for another year.

Feels very Wenyen Gabriel like to me. 5 star thin PF that were multiple year role players at Kentucky where it just never worked. Go work hard in the G League and hope to get opportunities like Wenyen is now. No ill will, no sadness, ready to move on.

I see where you’re going with that but Wenyen is the much better player. Shoots it better with more range and is a legit 6-9 or 6-10. Keion is 6-7.

One of my favorites from this past year. If he plays like he did against Kansas more consistently, he’ll have a long NBA career.

And to be fair about Kansas....

That was the game Kansas went to the box and 1 defense to chase Grady and then lock up the lane to contain Oscar.....so that was a unique game for Brooks to get all kinds of open 2 pt shots that Kansas was giving up. He was fantastic that game but that type of game is rarely going to happen to give Brooks the environment to make all the shots he did. It's not like he was unconscious from deep, posting up guys and crushing dudes off the dribble...he was mainly finding holes in a weird zone defense.

KBJ wasn’t as bad as some make him out to be but also wasn’t as good as we expected and was frustrating at times. Still need pieces like this to come back. I guess some expect the Juniors and Seniors at other schools just play perfect every year.

For what it’s orthodox most of you hating, are doing so only because of his comments about rupp arena. Screw yall and I’m glad he said what he said, and I’d kneel with the team as well . Damn boomers
And screw off to you as well as Brooks for calling people racists with no evidence to back it up....he even thought it was more about Adolph's first name in a reference to Hitler....Brooks was a total moron for what he said and he was in fact the racist one trying to intimate Rupp hated Jews like Hitler.

He never apologized for what he said, Cal just made up more of his bullcrap nonsense like he always does for players instead of talking any facts or realities to the moment.

As for Keion in the NBA.. I see no chance he gets picked this year, and I'd really hope He and his camp figure this out soon, and decide in a timely fashion to return. He's one of those not-too-common players that could REALLY benefit in returning: 5-star recruit didn't pan out early, but if he can fine tune his game he could easily wind up as a 1st round pick next year. If he can put together more of those Kansas-type games where he's hitting mid-range jumpers.. he'll land on a roster for sure.
I for one wouldn’t mind having him back. We always wanted players to stay but then bash the hell out of them when they don’t leave. I get that many think he doesn’t deserve starter minutes or whatever but he can be a good contributor to a winning team.

So he didn't say he was declaring without an agent AND entering the transfer portal. By all means wait til the last minute so UK can miss out on other transfers.. Toppin is our 4, Livingston can play the 4. If Oscar stays Collins will have to play the 4 alot or get 3 minutes a game. He needs to go.

Like to see him back here next year. He has improved every year and shown flashes of being really good. He's the type of player 6 years ago everybody wanted us to start recruiting. Players that stay at UK and get better every year. Good luck KB.

He may have said some negative things around here (Rupp) that pissed people off but I'm trying to be above that, a bit, and wish the kid good luck. He did some good things here for us but far too inconsistent and was weak on defense. Still, I wish him luck with whatever he decides to do after getting feedback.

Best of luck to Brooks. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him hit the portal and end up at IU.

It's quite simple. He tested last year. He will be asked by any reputable NBA scout/team why didn't you do anything we told you to work on last year? When your weaknesses are the same they were as a HS player, this "audition" won't take long.

Get it--these guys wear the uniform....support them, etc...but at some point reality has to get through to people--coaches and players. When you assess your own game and are a forward who can't handle the ball/make plays for others or make 3 pt shots, why will you be coveted by the home of the best players in the world?

Whose handle was more infuriating in traffic? Keion or Alex Poythress? They both loved to give it up in traffic.

That being said, I can say one very positive thing for Keion: he really improved his free throw shooting.

wish him well, hope he makes it
This may make me a selfish prick but I don't care. I really do not care what UK players do in the NBA. I root for them while they are here and that's about it.

It didn't used to be that way but why on Earth would I care about guys like Cason Wallace who said at the McDonald's game that he wants to leave UK as quickly as possible?

Bye.
