We lost to one of if not the best teamS in college football. Get the **** over it and move on. Still plenty to play for, including a trip to the CFP.
We can revisit your last statement later. I doubt we make the CFP without a running game, one of the most basic components needed to set up your offense and set up passing. Overall, I thought the hawk defense was pretty good considering they had the super quick change of possession with the fumble giving OSU the ball at about the hawks 16. Yeah, OSU moved the ball and got a lot of yards but again if Iowa's run game could have been a lot better, moved the chains, used up the clock, and kept OSU with the long field the score would have been a lot closer.

Iowa is like a soccer club that packs everyone in goal and plays for the counter. It’s horrible to watch, but it does frustrate opponents and that’s one of the goals….make opponent get antsy and they get careless….then take advantage

Unfortunately, Iowa rarely has the offense to do such a thing.

You cannot give playoff teams so many opportunities without your own offense generating something….

It’s great that this style has created such consistency that majority of college football would love to trade places….but….it hasn’t produced anything meaningful in how long ? Rose Bowl was great achievement for 2015….tho result was let down

Iowa will always just be on the cusp of great while Kirk still here

Ohio State is damn good. Like, ‘probably won’t lose again this season and will probably be in the national championship’ good. No shame in losing to them at home, even by 17 points.

What gave me some confidence was that we didn’t look WAY overmatched anywhere. Overmatched in some, yes, but the gap isn’t as far as some make it out to be. The first series false start or fumble don’t happen, and who knows. Could’ve been a different game.

Smith is as advertised.

I'm not saying by any stretch that Sayin is bad, but when all you have to do is put the ball in the general area of Smith it sure makes it plenty easy to look good. That fumble right away was such a killer.

Ohio State is the best team in the country. Composite talent score is the highest. Better than anyone in the sec. If the BS not on the LOS call isn’t made, we go into halftime even with them.

I actually think Iowa recovered very nicely from the fumble. That game could have gotten out of hand quickly at that point. But it didn’t. In fact, Iowa went toe to toe with osu through the first half. If it weren’t for that dumb *** procedure penalty, Iowa likely scores on that final drive and goes into halftime with a lead. Completely different ballgame due to that penalty.

I hate to say it, but there are multiple SEC teams that would beat Ohio State.

Sky is certainly not falling but it is clear they are competing for a national title and we are competing to attempt to make the playoffs.

The difference in talent, coaching and preparation between those two teams yesterday be overstated.

People can say what they want about the NIL differences….but the reality is that OSU has always been a blue blood for a reason, long before NIL came around.

Iowa will drop all the way out of the rankings and barely receive votes after that performance. It will take a miracle, to get back to the top 12 come CFP time.

11 - 1 might not get you there if you don't make 5he B1G championship game because of the early stumbles from the leaders of the conference. The precedent is undefeated FSU, and two undefeated Utah teams, and a double undefeated UCF team.

The Hawkeyes didn't have to win this game, but they couldn't be inept on offense and keep their goals in front of them. Brian Ferentz ball is no longer acceptable in this era of football.

11-1 100% gets them in.

I do not want to be in the playoffs with this embarrassment of a team. Just go play Colorado in a bowl. Or Oklahoma st or Texas tech. They would lose that bowl probably.

The real falling is the Iowa offense, get tired of the D playing good enough just to have the offense look like dog crap year after year. D is not as good this year but gave the offense enough stops to make it a game
It’s been this way for what feels like forever.
Defense fails if they give up more than 10 points because damnit that’s the only way we can possibly win…a game in a phone booth

yes the OSU score became a route, but we held them to 17 for the half and first few possessions in second half

yet the much improved Iowa offense….6 points until the backups came in

last year Iowa held IU, USC, OR all below their season averages and we still lost

it sucks to know if a good team gets to 24ish points it’s a loss for Iowa
