We lost to one of if not the best teamS in college football. Get the **** over it and move on. Still plenty to play for, including a trip to the CFP.

We can revisit your last statement later. I doubt we make the CFP without a running game, one of the most basic components needed to set up your offense and set up passing. Overall, I thought the hawk defense was pretty good considering they had the super quick change of possession with the fumble giving OSU the ball at about the hawks 16. Yeah, OSU moved the ball and got a lot of yards but again if Iowa's run game could have been a lot better, moved the chains, used up the clock, and kept OSU with the long field the score would have been a lot closer. We lost to one of if not the best teamS in college football. I'm not saying by any stretch that Sayin is bad, but when all you have to do is put the ball in the general area of Smith it sure makes it plenty easy to look good. That fumble right away was such a killer.Ohio State is damn good. Like, ‘probably won’t lose again this season and will probably be in the national championship’ good. No shame in losing to them at home, even by 17 points.
What gave me some confidence was that we didn’t look WAY overmatched anywhere. Overmatched in some, yes, but the gap isn’t as far as some make it out to be. The first series false start or fumble don’t happen, and who knows. Could’ve been a different game.
Smith is as advertised.
I hate to say it, but there are multiple SEC teams that would beat Ohio State.Ohio State is damn good. Like, ‘probably won’t lose again this season and will probably be in the national championship’ good. No shame in losing to them at home, even by 17 points.

You literally can't know that without an actual game happening.I hate to say it, but there are multiple SEC teams that would beat Ohio State.
Idiot post of the yearI hate to say it, but there are multiple SEC teams that would beat Ohio State.
True, it’s my opinion. This Ohio State team doesn’t look as dominate as they have in recent years, and there are several SEC teams that look better to me.You literally can't know that without an actual game happening.
11-1 100% gets them in.Iowa will drop all the way out of the rankings and barely receive votes after that performance. It will take a miracle, to get back to the top 12 come CFP time.
11 - 1 might not get you there if you don't make 5he B1G championship game because of the early stumbles from the leaders of the conference. The precedent is undefeated FSU, and two undefeated Utah teams, and a double undefeated UCF team.
The Hawkeyes didn't have to win this game, but they couldn't be inept on offense and keep their goals in front of them. Brian Ferentz ball is no longer acceptable in this era of football.
CowardiceI do not want to be in the playoffs with this embarrassment of a team. Just go play Colorado in a bowl. Or Oklahoma st or Texas tech. They would lose that bowl probably.
It’s been this way for what feels like forever. The real falling is the Iowa offense, get tired of the D playing good enough just to have the offense look like dog crap year after year. D is not as good this year but gave the offense enough stops to make it a game
LOL - you just posted EXACTLY what I was thinking this morning! I wish posters would quit pointing out the NIL differences…🫤 It is what it is and our donors (Tom Arnold?!?Sky is certainly not falling but it is clear they are competing for a national title and we are competing to attempt to make the playoffs.
The difference in talent, coaching and preparation between those two teams yesterday be overstated.
People can say what they want about the NIL differences….but the reality is that OSU has always been a blue blood for a reason, long before NIL came around.
you would be very very wrongI hate to say it, but there are multiple SEC teams that would beat Ohio State.
No offense, but you’re a fvcking moron.Iowa will drop all the way out of the rankings and barely receive votes after that performance. It will take a miracle, to get back to the top 12 come CFP time.

You‘re such a drag dude. You used to be mildly entertaining. Now, you’re just a fvcking clown.I do not want to be in the playoffs with this embarrassment of a team. Just go play Colorado in a bowl. Or Oklahoma st or Texas tech. They would lose that bowl probably.
Not quite. The Hawks are #18 in coaches poll and #20 AP.Iowa will drop all the way out of the rankings and barely receive votes after that performance. It will take a miracle, to get back to the top 12 come CFP time.

Nebraska and Minnesota develop better ? Put down the crack pipeIt was always assumed that we would lose, but the goal was to put up a fight, and we failed at that too. With how Illinois ran the ball last week, I had hoped this was the game where our run game would show growth from the previous two games against power 4 competition. Instead it has only regressed since Iowa State. Now, there's an argument to be made that 1. Lester seemingly abandoned it yesterday and 2. We played two top 10 defenses. But if Illinois can run for 200 I assumed that we could as well.
The usual suspects of the forum will puff out their chests and act superior exclaiming yesterday meant very little. But we wanted Iowa to be competitive, because everyone knows the blatant talent discrepancy. Sadly, the team folded quickly and showed that we're not the playoff hopefuls we thought we were. That of course, is the goal of the season was to get to the playoffs. Kirk has spoken on this, the media has numerous articles about it, and it was fan's hope going into the season.
We were all high coming off the miracle at michigan, but OSU not only brought us down to Earth, but exposed weaknesses that need to be addressed. Going forward we need to acknowledge a few things:
-Neither QB we have is the answer, choose whichever you want, both will disappoint.
-The offense took a bigger step back than we had anticipated. We knew it would, but there was a hope that the additions we made in the off season would help off set that.
-This OLine is good, but absolutely not top 20. Nowhere near a Joe Moore contender. Dotzler is the weak link.
-Our RBs are at best, mediocre. Teams like Nebraska and Minnesota recruit and develop much better than we do, and it's a pill we all need to swallow.
-The DLine was a rightful concern to have in the preseason, as its struggles remain evident. Kelvin Bell should be on the hot seat.
Losing to a top 5 team isn't the end of the world, nor is it a reason to hit the panic button. But it was a cold splash of reality that this team and fanbase needed.
