You think there is a chance he chose that name before all this stuff came out about Spacey?
If he did, there’s always the option of changing your nickname. I wouldn’t want to be associated with an alleged homosexual pedophile. That’s just me though.

This thread is absolutely amazing. Men will go to their graves arguing over who has the best steak. Thank you all.

Everyone's palette is different so it's always going to be subjective. That being said I couldn't disagree with this more. Fancy steakhouses are about the only kind of super high end dining I treat myself to and in Louisville Ruby's to me is unquestionably at the top. Z's Oyster Bar and Steakhouse is 2nd but is not quite Ruby's and I think there is a significant drop after that. Don't get me wrong Stony River, Ruth's Chris, Butchertown Grocery, Bob's, Le Moo, Eddie Merlot's, and a few others are fine and I wouldn't turn down going to but if I'm setting it up unless trying a new place(which I did a couple weekends ago Brooklyn and The Butcher in New Albany literally the worst place I've tried) then it's always Ruby's.

If you're a traveler then Cut in both Vegas and LA , Boa in Santa Monica, Gibson's in Chicago, and Kayne Prime in Nashville were all incredible. Cut in Vegas is probably the best steak I've ever had. May all your cuts be bone in ribeyes and all your temperatures medium rare.

I lean the other way. I can go to Costco and buy some steaks, marinate them over night or dry rub them and I think they are as good as any as I can buy, but I'm willing to pay for good ethnic food because I can't make it at home that's comparable.

You are right about it being subjective. For those who eat theirs Medium and above they are wasting their money. Certainly there are quite a few on this thread. There is a fine line between those restaurants above and that also extends down to the particular piece of beef you were given. J Alexanders is one I like...different name now but same place...and Brooklyn and the Butcher is trending down. But you can get a really good piece of meat on a given night about anywhere. Le Moo...meh. I do a really good job myself so I took the fam to Le Moo. When we left one of my fam said....your's is better. Yep.
Agreed, if you're not eating it medium rare almost leaning rare for me it's not worth paying more than 12.99 O'Charley's special. I don't know where you live in Louisville but the past couple summers I was getting on the list at Whole Foods in St. Matthews and getting their dry aged bone in ribeyes to cook at home and they were outstanding. Like you said nobody knows your palette better than you and I know how to make the exact steak I like.

I understand the premise and agree with it. I just mentioned in another post if you can get a nice cut of dry aged meat from a butcher than maybe you can make it close at home. I think I make a mean steak but a few that I've had in the wild are just something I could never do at home. Agreed on the ethnic food, although in Louisville specifically most of the incredible ethnic places you won't have to spend an arm and leg because they are very well priced. Great Ethiopian place over by Bowman field called Queen Of Sheba and you can get a damn feast for 2 that is 10/10 for like 30$.

Anchorage area. I get meats at several places and actually Costco has amazing selections of meats and seafood....and Bourbon.

I sous vide.....

Cooking a steak at home does not make my wife have sex with me like going to a nice *** steakhouse does, so the steakhouse wins.

Also the sides, cocktails, and apps at high end steakhouses (like the ridiculous prosciutto wrapped pear at Ruby’s) are just as good as the steak.

I second that, she is a fan of all good meat

[eyeroll] You can’t just jump on another dude’s joke and second it

If it takes a fancy steak to make your wife have sex with you, maybe the problem lies elsewhere.

Well first of all it wasn’t what I said - I said going to a fancy steakhouse has a better chance of me getting laid then me trying to cook a ****** steak at home. And second off it was a joke for Christ’s sake

In my opinion. Ruby’s and Tony’s are about even. Other than grilling your own. Malone’s, outback, Texas Roadhouse are not close to that caliber.

A close relative taught at colerain hs in cinci, where he would sometimes be on the sidelines of fball games, and said he was very creepy especially around the cheerleaders.

They had male cheerleaders there in that high school?

Hope you got better service than we did. Lol

No kidding!! We were at Ruby's too. Us and the table next to us had the worst service that night. First time for me having bad service in there. Funny you imply the same thing on same night
