This kid has grown so much this year as a basketball player. He’s obviously an incredible athlete but credit to him and the coaches for becoming a complete and composed basketball player and teammate.
Yeah, I'll admit I was 100% completely wrong about Young. Its truly amazing how far he has come during this season. The coaches know what they're doing. This kid has grown so much this year as a basketball player. Agreed. He has grown so much. And his athleticism is elite. Looking forward to seeing him play at this level for an entire season next year. This kid has grown so much this year as a basketball player. With quality coaching, anything is possible. This kid has grown so much this year as a basketball player. He’s obviously an incredible athlete but credit to him and the coaches for becoming a complete and composed basketball player and teammate.
There were only a couple of us telling folks to be patient. I agree with you. You could see the talent. He just needed to brush off the rust and gain his confidence. Was high on him when a lot put him down early. It was clear his potential, it was a matter of toning it down. He was going 100 mph when he needed to go the speed limit.
I think the fact we have 3 ex-point guards (Pike, Hobbs and AA Knight) this kid will flourish. With his speed and another year under these guys he will have a VERY profitable overseas career.
Heats up quick! There’s no question that we are a better team when Jacob is playing well. He’s a microwave guy.

Thunderous dunk!
Thankfully that kid missed the FT or JY would have been shredded by the fan base

Letitrip2.....let’s be objective. JY defended well then after the shot stepped back and became a spectator failing to box out allowing the follow up shot. Brain freeze?

Jacob missed some free throws near the end of regulation.I was really mad at Jacob Young for playing good defense on Hunter to force the missed shot in regulation but then he stood there and let Hunter get the rebound and foul.
That was to close....luckily he missed one foul shot.
We were really on the brink of another tough loss. Finally we caught a break. JY got better and better this year but needs to make those critical FTs.The missed Perdue free throw at 2.7 allowed JY to go from goat to hero here. Not questioning his unquestionable contribution to where we are this season, but that miss bailed him and propelled his OT performance. He is not yet complete or composed but when he fells it, he can be deadly! Next year hopefully more control.
Me too; he was my least favorite....... now I love the guy. What an athlete
What's amazing to me about young is it seems that he always uses his opposite hand that would make sense.
For example on that dunk ... he beats haarms and dunking with his left is safer (and he's a lefty!!)...yet he dunks with his right
He's been doing that all year (dunks or layups) and it makes me scratch my head. Don't get me wrong I love the guy...it's just the wei
Thank for you posted that. LolI was high on Jacob before the season because of his off the charts quickness and athleticism. I did not like the way the Jacob played in November and December as he was not sharing the game at that point. I posted that he needed to change, and he did starting the Caldwell game, I believe.
He has grown as a player, as I had hoped, and this team is very different when Jacob is on. I am extremely happy for Jacob, Pike and this entire coaching staff.

Same here. He obviously wasn't playing that well early on, but you could see his incredible athletic gifts (guy could be an incredible slot receiver/punt returner with his quickness, speed and wiggle) and knew if he could play under better control he'd be the X-factor. Fantastic coaching job to realize that vision. JY has the highest "range" of play of anyone on the team, IMO, meaning a very high ceiling when he's playing well and a pretty low floor when he's not. And I like seeing him playing closer to that ceiling lately. Was high on him when a lot put him down early. It was clear his potential, it was a matter of toning it down.
