Layla Hays has a long way to go. She has the frame but for some reason gets thrown off her spot too easily.
This is a terrible finish by the reserves.

Probably part of it but their shooting form is atrocious. It was an anamoly that they made so many.
Outside of Journey, just a brutal box score for all the non starters.
Woof.
Woof.
Hays needs to be more aggressive with her body. You got a big frame, use it.
I'm not sure Layla knows there's a basketball game going on.
Nearly a perfect game. IA playing really well at the right time. Gonna be a fun ride these next few weeks.
Lol a blowout that turned into a 6 point win.
She’s not athletic enough and that ain’t changing. Slow with the feet and minimal jumping ability.
Yeah... we need help from the bench. Everyone was bad minus Journey. That's the only negative.
JFC. I'm all for giving backups playing time but melting away a 23 point lead to let them within 2 possessions? Cutting it a little thin.
As soon as we took out chitchat and Strelow all hell broke loose
Bush League by Illini coach. Ride those starters the whole game and only lose by 6. No need to give your deep bench players any rewarding PT in a game that was lost a long time ago.
Bad News ugly finish by reserves, Good News, Valuable rest for key players.
Good win but not sure what Jan was trying to prove. The other team leaves in their starters then you should as well. Again good game except for the last 4 minutes.
Starters got some rest
It's a tournament with games back to back days. A win is a win. Good for starters to rest.
Addie will be good just learning what it takes to be in big ten versus high school competition
This. Not gonna lose sleep over their starters scoring on our bench and still winning by more than the last time they played.
A 6 point win counts as much as a 26 point win.
Hawks play at too slow a pace but I understand JJs strategy. And they just don’t have enough perimeter firepower (4-14 from 3) but they play hard and with Ava and HS can really control the paint.
She made a number of great passes to Ava. Unfortunately Layla can neither catch the ball, or do anything with it when she does.....
First 36 minutes...
Final 4 minutes...
Final 4 minutes...
Journey had 12 boards...our next highest rebounder had 5. Imagine if she was a few inches taller.
So, was Ava still sick. I mean incredibly efficient once again but I don't think she played even 20 minutes......
Stremlow must have grown up an IA fan given her comments about Sam Logic, watching IA players, and her dad an IA native. I didn’t realize all that.
I never followed IA WBB until the Gustafson and Doyle years but great reference to Sam Logic. I’ve heard of her and now it’s nice to understand the type of game she played.
