I like Washington (OAD), Collins that will probably declare and will not be ready but will choose the get paid to learn in the G League (No real benefit to UK if that happens), I like Hopkins who should be a multi-year player who could develop into something special but under Cal's direction will "test" the NBA waters and then who knows who gets into his ear? Best for him to stay but very likely to go too soon, who knows? Mintz, Wheeler, Brooks...I don't like much at all. These are the type of players who must pinch themselves and can't believe they somehow ended up playing for school like UK. Oscar...love him and should have been here day one but will be gone after this year (pretty sure he's a junior)...but gone. Ware was recruited into the Program...he's OK more of role player and that's fine. Toppin was a good find and do like his game and potential. Grady was a good get and can win lots of games for many reasons besides shooting. I like Allen because he's got loads of potential but Cal punishes him to punish the fans who would like to see him succeed (or at least get the same chance given to Brooks) at his home state school. As you can see, building the program from one year to the next to create consistency doesn't really exist here. Cals recruiting is in panic mode all the time. It's hard to imagine what next years team is gonna look like...no one knows...not even Cal. It's impossible to sustain the Program winning standards consistently over time with this approach...not gonna happen. One year in college is not enough for any player to learn how to play the game and this is evident in looking at UK players who only begin to succeed in the League after three or four years. That said, under Cal's system...what's the benefit for UK if not to win Titles. I think it's obvious that winning Titles is not necessarily the goal. Once the majority of fans realize this in larger numbers, and that's happening now, they will be done with him and he won't be able to get out of town fast enough.
