The announcers said the game before last that Sharpe was going to redshirt???? This may be the reason he isn't playing. One entry into the game and he loses a year of eligibility.

Congratulations, one of those was the #1 defense and without your starting point guard. Make sure you cherry pick against all the other offenses to tear them down too. Idiots.
So having an extra guard might have helped? Wonder what would happen if we had Sharpe playing in another situation like that. We might actually win the game. In March.

Thanks for making my point for me.

He wont play unless we start losing which is entirely possible with this gauntlet UK is about to run.

If we keep winning Cal will save him for next yr as we will lose alot of players.

How do we know if he had an agreement with Cal to just practice this year and play next season ?
SS may have a say in this also.

I 100% agree he should play asap at least 5-10 minutes a game and by February he would be up to 20 per game and perhaps more in March. Will this happen? I have my doubts. If we do not have Wheeler Saturday we probably lose to UT at home unless we shoot it from 3 really well and Oscar keeps up his Shaq like stats of late point per game wise.
Reasonable take right here ! .. let the kid get a chance , just please dont bury him where he gets no chance to help

Allegedly he has to return next year...so not sure why playing him some this year hurts for next year. That makes him a better player next full season IMO. Granted he could leave to g-league or elsewhere, but supposedly NBA is not an option. I know, I know conspiracy theorists...but just going on what the experts have said.

Or…..we could let the fan base run the team. We could decide who starts, we could tweet out substitutions and timeouts, and we could just offer the top ten recruits and take the first ones that want to come aboard.

This forum never fails to entertain.
Only if the pay comes with the job, cause I couldn’t stand the pressure! Lol!

...He should be fired.

Sharpe is the best recruit we've had in a long time and we clearly need another guard.

There is ZERO excuse not to play him at least 10 minutes per game to see what he can do.

Don't give me that lousy 'fitness' excuse. He doesn't have to play 39 minutes. He can contribute and I'm sure he's better than Hopkins/Collins/Allen/Ware three of whom have been playing during those minutes where our lead shrinks.

Don't give me that lousy 'BuT hE nEeDs To LeArN TeH OfFenSe!' excuse unless you can actually articulate what offense we currently run other than GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! RUUUUUUUUUUUN!

Don't give me that lousy 'but he needs to learn defense' excuse after I just mentioned Hopkins/Collins/Allen/Ware.

On the other hand, if Cal plays Sharpe NOW and he gets integrated into the lineup and starts contributing, even as little as 8/4 a game in, say, 15 minutes, we could be a FF team THIS YEAR.

Hopefully Cal is just keeping his cards close but IMHO Sharpe should be playing next week.

But I'm suspicious that Cal doesn't want him to play for fear of Sharpe exploding and making Cal look bad because he didn't get to 'train' him first.
I want him to play also but it is not the end of the world as long as he plays next year. Contrary to what a lot of people say, that is not a guarantee. I don’t care what the rules about the draft state.

I get it man! Everything seems to be a game with Cal nowadays, Sharpe will be no exception.

But, just wait until he declares for the draft this Spring lol! I can hear the excuses now…

“He’s just testing the waters to get feedback!” Followed by…
“He has to go while he can! He’s projected late lottery/ mid first round!”
Followed by…
“Cal was lied to by his handlers, no way he knew this was a possibility!” Lol Lol

One thing we don't want is for the kid to go in and get overwhelmed. This is a kid and you don't want to mess with his head if he crashes early in games. Cal knows this. Let him go in with a narrow focus and then build on each success.

I don’t think he was even eligible to play until this week.

He’s had what. Two? Three practices in our system? Give him a couple of weeks to get acclimated. Good grief. Dude literally is probably finishing learning where everything is on campus much less who’s roles are what. I’d love to see by Auburn.

There’s a difference between insanity and stupidity and we’re flirting with it.

Obviously he knows where the gym is, and that's all that matters.

You really think he came here to take English Comp 101?

Lol. He still has to go to class. We aren’t UNC. Learn where to go eat etc. Learn where the honeys hang out.

Come on. Use some common sense.

For a group that critiques Cal for “rolling out the ball” y’all just want him to throw Sharpe out their and say “good luck”.

and if he did bad the first thing we’d hear is “well look like nobody taught him any sets yet”.

How in the world do you Sharpe is the best recruit the Cats have had in a long time ? The guy has not played a college game yet. I have watched a lot of supposed superstars that came to college and weren't that good. He may be a superstar, but he might not be either, also he may play, and he might not. I would temper my expectations at least until I have watched him play against college compition. Another thing, who is going to sit so he can play ? What if the guy that has to sit is really popular with his teammates ? Team chemistry is even more important than talent at the college level. He is not going to step on the court and all of a sudden make the Cats automatically better than Baylor, Gonzaga, Purdue, Arizona and these other top teams.

Common sense says he's a one and done, or a 1.5 and done. That means he's here to play basketball. So while yes it's important for him to maintain his eligibility, let's not pretend that we're concerned about him 'acclimating' to the campus and such. They have handlers who make sure of that, and he has teammates.

Bottom line is, he's here to play BASKETBALL. Let's see him DO THAT.

Are you twelve years old? Your sentence construction and spelling aren't the only two indicators. Your reasoning is specious and rudimentary.

1. Only one way to find out how good Sharpe is, and that is to PLAY HIM. Do I stutter?
2. It's Cal's job to manage the players on his team, but his overarching job is to win games. If we win more and have a better chance to win with Sharpe in the lineup, then Cal is IRRESPONSIBLE not to play him. I would LOVE to see you take a contrary position to that without sounding like you're Ellen Calipari.
3. Team chemistry is a false canard, this team is very unselfish and clearly they value winning games over 'getting mine.' And I doubt that Sharpe playing 2 segments of 5 minutes each is going to shatter our 'chemistry.'

4. I'm shocked that I have to teach you this, but the NCAA tournament is a single elimination, bracket-based event where the winner simply has to survive six straight games to be champion. That means to make the FF you have to win 4. It doesn't mean you have to beat "Baylor, Gonzaga, Purdue, Arizona and these other top teams" all in a row. So your argument is a silly strawman. And frankly, if Sharpe playing helps us beat some teams like AU, KU, and TN, we might end up with a 2 seed which means our tournament chances are better.

Rich coming from “I’m going to cry and scream for the coach to be fired if he doesn’t play the player I want him to 😢😢😢
Actually, Skippy, my OP had zero whining and crying. It was a very well laid out and constructed argument delineating why Cal would be irresponsible not to play Sharpe this season. He should be held accountable if he doesn't play him. Seems like you want to project your own unhappiness onto me. But that's cool, you are permitted to out yourself as an emo on a message board, it's not against the rules.

What offense do we run?
This isn’t football where you could Answer that with Air Raid, Pro style, etc. So who knows what exactly the response you are wanting here. Can you name me the offense that college or even NBA teams run? No because that’s not a thing that exists.

You people are nutjobs. If this board were in charge, he'd have been fired 50 times by now for arbitrary bs like this. So glad Cal doesn't listen to this nonsense.

You really think losing one year of eligibility would matter for a guy like Sharpe? Think about that for a second.
