If Cal doesn't play Sharpe soon...

You people are nutjobs. If this board were in charge, he'd have been fired 50 times by now for arbitrary bs like this. So glad Cal doesn't listen to this nonsense.
Not one person in power, or anywhere near a checkbook at UK has even considered such nonsense. It's hard to do, but it's best if you can find amusement in all the bloviating done by these participation trophy trained blowhards. They are something the real leadership probably laughs about over cocktails and are nowhere close to getting their way. Clearly a new experience for them.

I want him to play also but it is not the end of the world as long as he plays next year. Contrary to what a lot of people say, that is not a guarantee. I don’t care what the rules about the draft state.
The NBA hasn't made an exception to their "1 year removed from High School " rule for anyone else, why would they now?

...He should be fired.

Sharpe is the best recruit we've had in a long time and we clearly need another guard.

There is ZERO excuse not to play him at least 10 minutes per game to see what he can do.

Don't give me that lousy 'fitness' excuse. He doesn't have to play 39 minutes. He can contribute and I'm sure he's better than Hopkins/Collins/Allen/Ware three of whom have been playing during those minutes where our lead shrinks.

Don't give me that lousy 'BuT hE nEeDs To LeArN TeH OfFenSe!' excuse unless you can actually articulate what offense we currently run other than GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! RUUUUUUUUUUUN!

Don't give me that lousy 'but he needs to learn defense' excuse after I just mentioned Hopkins/Collins/Allen/Ware.

On the other hand, if Cal plays Sharpe NOW and he gets integrated into the lineup and starts contributing, even as little as 8/4 a game in, say, 15 minutes, we could be a FF team THIS YEAR.

Hopefully Cal is just keeping his cards close but IMHO Sharpe should be playing next week.

But I'm suspicious that Cal doesn't want him to play for fear of Sharpe exploding and making Cal look bad because he didn't get to 'train' him first.
You must be one very stupid human being. Don’t you think if Cal thought he could help this team, he’d be playing him? It never ceases to amaze me how unbelievably stupid some of you fans are. You embarrassed yourself, and you should keep your thoughts to yourself from now on.

They have already fired Cal. It's something like one of those silent verbals from a recruit!

If Cal wasn’t here OP wouldn’t make such a post. Not because the coach would already play Sharpe by now, but because Sharpe would be at Arizona.

The fact that Sharpe is here is a credit to Calipari and the staff he’s put together. Thankfully Cal’s leading the program and not some of these airheads around here

😂😂😂 this dude talks so much 💩.

The Cal brigade is filled with so much hate. The first ones to stoop to name calling every time.

Using the one psychology class I took in college, I know that people who have to insult others during a discussion are the ones that are overly insecure about their own intellect.

Praying for you Turkey.

Can you imagine if Kentucky fired their coach over something like this? lol.
Don’t worry OPs the same guy who has been “watching games at Vanderbilt for decades” but didn’t know the coaches can be on the sidelines for the past 7 years. I wouldn’t trust his basketball judgment for nothing

I'm still in the seeing is believing camp with Sharpe and the level of impact he could have.

Believe you me, the possibility excites me. But year after year of each new guy being the second coming, and every year it's more of the same.....a lot of talent but still rough and needs a lot of polishing and UK never gets to reap the full benefits of their growth because they're out the door.

It feels like this time it could be different. But I'm not going to let myself get hyped up and buy in only to be disappointed by more of the same. He's supposed to be in high school right now. I have a hard time believing such a player is the difference between us contending for a title or not.

Now I know some will read all that, get their panties in a twist, and whine about negativity, which could t be further from reality.

All I'm asking for is to show me on the court. I'm not buying any of this hype until I see it manifest itself. Either its the kind of difference maker to where we compete for the title, or it's not. If it's not, then I really DGAF...rest until next season and keep practicing and learning this season.

Give the kid a few weeks to get used to college, his new team and get in decent game shape. Cal usually works new freshman all summer and then they get about 4 weeks of real practice before they play a real game no matter how good they are. I think Cal will get him in a game or two later in the season but it WILL NOT be against Auburn or A&M on the road or KU. Cal isn’t throwing the kid in a meat grinder this season unless or until he is ready. If the coach doesn’t think he is he will not play.

Or…..we could let the fan base run the team. We could decide who starts, we could tweet out substitutions and timeouts, and we could just offer the top ten recruits and take the first ones that want to come aboard.

This forum never fails to entertain.
To be fair, Cal is absolutely terrible at substitution patterns sometimes and is always terrible at utilizing timeouts. He almost always takes them home with him.

This isn’t football where you could Answer that with Air Raid, Pro style, etc. So who knows what exactly the response you are wanting here. Can you name me the offense that college or even NBA teams run? No because that’s not a thing that exists.
Oh, I see, you're using the "answer the question with a question" tactic.

Sorry, if you can't name or even describe the offense, then my point stands.

I’ve played and been around basketball my whole life and never heard of specific basketball offenses. So I guess I am asking for an example of what it is you are wanting to hear. Seems like a reasonable suggestion.

I 100% agree he should play asap at least 5-10 minutes a game and by February he would be up to 20 per game and perhaps more in March. Will this happen? I have my doubts. If we do not have Wheeler Saturday we probably lose to UT at home unless we shoot it from 3 really well and Oscar keeps up his Shaq like stats of late point per game wise.
Doesn't surprise me that @ManitouDan liked this. He claims to have coached college girls, yet he is anti everything coach. Absolute clown. Bitches about the arena, the stadium for football. As a supposed coach, he has nothing good to say about our storied program.

We are not short a guard, what we are short on is a consistent 4, neither Toppin or Brooks are good enough to be starting at UK. If we had somebody like a Winston Bennet or Walter McCarty or even Scott Padgett we would be a title contender.

I honestly don’t think Cal GAF wether Sharpe explodes and leads us to wins. How would that not benefit us by winning and being drafted high. He still played here and was coached by Cal.

Just saying my man. Our point averages are also inflated by those bum teams we played. If we drop 90 on UT tomorrow night i’ll be excited.
We dropped what almost a 100 piece on UNC. Now you can say they aren’t the best or whatever but they aren’t sisters of the poor either.

You beclowned yourself, but haters gonna hate
Pot calling the kettle black. Everyone knows you’re the biggest Cal hater posting on HOB or RR. Cal will determine when Sharpe plays not you. Who do you think you are to determine Cal should be fired if he doesn’t play Sharpe on your self imposed timeline. You’re a nobody posting stupid takes on RR, and no one but you gives a **** about what you think. Cal isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, so learn to deal with it or find another team and coach to hate on.

What offense do we run?
This team runs very effective offensive sets, but you have never played basketball in your life and can’t understand the elements of the game. That’s okay, but you shouldn’t be coming on message board making yourself look foolish by bitching about something you know nothing about. Per KenPom we are #8 in Adjusted Offense BTW, so STFU.

I'm not suggesting Cal is being rational about this. But then again, what was rational about starting Askew and leaving Boston in all those minutes?

Your answer shows that you do not know the answer to my question.
There might be a time and circumstance to fire Cal by this ain’t it. There’s a reason teams practice 5-6 weeks before the season starts and Sharpe deserves his time as well.

It doesn't take someone who played college ball to see that Cal doesn't run an organized set offense.

Even you can't name it.
