dude read the posts. It is being used in compassionate care for some of those in the 10 maybe 20% of total cases that become severe to critical and that percentage of people is where the deaths are coming from. I was saying folks that have gotten the drug are in that class and the results are great. I’m not going to run out, and I’m sure most people wouldn’t that test positive with mild to moderate symptoms and demand to take it. And 99% of doctors wouldn’t write it right now. It’s hope for those people where there is no hope.

Seriously not being an ***, do you have a source for that? I’m genuinely interested because I have not seen any legitimate data that was not fifth hand and anecdotal besides the French study that has peer review issues. The only active studies I know of are NYC and universities in Washington state which are just starting. There is some use in China and a few places but the data is mixed and not reliable. We already know we can’t trust China.

I would love to hear of more success from legitimate sources, but what I have seen online are propagandists spreading disinformation that this is the cure and the crisis is over.

Question. If you were in bed, in critical condition with this awful virus with no other known/approved effective medication available at this time...would you request this treatment ? God forbid this happen to you or anyone else.

Given the possible side effects- I'd definitely roll the dice taking the drug as opposed to just dying. No question.

If I remember correctly a doctor from Lennox Hill hospital in NYC said over the weekend that they had put 100 people on this over the previous two weeks that were considered serious or critical and I believe he said all 100 had either started improving or recovered.

That's awesome and it definitely warrants further exploration, but we should pump the brakes a bit on the excitement until there are peer-reviewed controlled studies that establish the causal link. Remember, the vast majority of people recover from this virus, so the medical community needs to establish what portion (if any) of the observed recovery is driven by the drug, and what would have happened naturally anyway.

There are people who need the drug for other reasons who are currently finding it in short supply, so we need to be really sure it's the right call before we do anything drastic.

So what is the deal here? Of course anyone would want to try it if they were on the verge of dying. I assume there is a narrative that people are being denied treatment and it’s someone’s fault?

If Obama had claimed this was a possible cure instead of Trump everyone would be praising it as a great thing. Since Trump proclaimed it to be one possibility everyone is trashing it out. There have been known cases of it recovery after using that treatment. Of course anyone would try it on their deathbed.

It's not proven per Fauchi and others. But, NY about to give it a huge test run.

In France they did a study of 40 patients and had 100% recovery rate. One New York doctor 3 days ago started to implement it to 100 of his patients and none have died and are recovering. Small sample size but it’s working pretty damn well with a Z-Pak combo.

Not 100%. That's not true.

And it's still not proven to work. It's only showed limited signs of being helpful. I received information on it from a top health official. Trust me, it's got to be tested more. And that's exactly what NY is doing. We'll know in about 2-3 weeks.

Lol I’m sure you did. Everybody is a top health official these days. When you’re on the vent drowning and dying in your own bodily fluids I’ll be your patient care advocate and tell the hospitalist you would like to wait until they test it more.

We need an RCT. It won't take a year, and truly we should see results within a week or two, depending on when the trial started. They'll expedite this. Using anecdotal evidence often hurts people. I don't have strong feelings on using it currently in hospitalized/severe cases since the evidence is imminent. I am concerned with promoting widespread use on the outpatient level if the evidence comes back negative in a week or two, which is very possible despite all the positive reports. I'm a doctor, and if you do serious lit reviews for medications and specific indications, you see that a lot of the anecdotal reports or international trials end up being trash after they've been better tested. I'm 100% in favor of getting results ASAP for this, but we need these results before recommending it across the board.

And my concern with outpatient use right now is that even if the RCT is negative, the public and even providers may still view it as "doing something is better than doing nothing" which is absolutely, absolutely, absolutely not true. Hoping it comes back positive in a week or two and we kick this thing's ***.

I think it's probably because Trump has said claimed so much that has proven to be so false, that it is difficult to trust what he has to say when it comes to a possible cure.

This is an anti-vaxer who uses his public platform to attack people that have no political involvement and continually makes incorrect claims and inflammatory remarks when a mic is put in his face.

So yeah, this claim is being met by some with a hint of hesitation.
Also, his claim was basically a non-claim. He says it might work or it might not work, but he has a good feeling about it.
Basically, he took no position so he isnt wrong either way and he has a good feeling about something he knows almost nothing about.
Brilliant.***

I hope this medication ends up being helpful. I will listen to medical experts with regards to if this medication works or not since, you know, they dont act like a petulant child in front of a camera.

Everyone? Really? Everyone?

You don't remember how Obama was treated by everyone on the Right (politicians, talk radio, Fox News, laypeople, etc.) for 8 years? Schumer, Pelosi, and liberal-leaning media outlets look mildly antagonistic in their attitudes toward Trump. And unlike Trump, Obama was generally not antagonistic back. No name calling, no going off on reporters, cursing, screaming, etc.

Had Obama been promoting some miracle cure (he wouldn't have without the proper peer review studies, but let's pretend all that is sorted out), every right-wing outlet would be declaring it an evil plot to poison Americans and brainwash them or something even more silly.

It should be used on severe cases and not just anyone. It’s been proving to work for many patients who are having trouble fighting off the virus.

I’m not going to say that Hydroxychloroquine isn’t effective, just that we don’t know if it is or isn’t yet for sure. We shouldn’t go around prescribing medication willy nilly without some hard evidence of benefits. The risk with that is that we go back to this:
View attachment 15636

I’m sure somewhere in medieval times there was anecdotal evidence leeches improved what ever leeches were thought to improve. It became dogma and improvement was stop because no one stopped for a second to question the therapy’s results and then look for a better way. Only by following the scientific method and gathering hard evidence before we allow things to become dogma can society move forward.

If the reporter really called him out on being hopeful about a potential treatment then the reporter is an idiot. Trump, however, could've had a much better reaction if he'd just skipped berating and asked the reporter "Are you seriously calling me out for being hopeful?" and let it ride from there. Of course Trump is his own worst enemy in that he can't resist playground fights, even when it is in his best interest.

I'm gonna call BS on that...Obama was never held accountable for anything...to even question any of Obama's decisions would result in being branded a bigot and a racist...Obama never faced the outright overt hatred that Trump has and what makes it worse, those same bigoted elites hate anyone who supports Trump.

could be huge turn of events

If I was on my death bed and the doctor say that ******* a crawfish hole might save my life, I would lupe it up and start knocking the **** out of that hole. Why not try it? What the hell when you have nothing to lose.

You apparently never watched Fox News, listened to talk radio, or heard a speech from a Republican pol from 2009-2016. Random individuals notwithstanding, liberals as a whole haven't reached that level of nastiness and conspiracies. We think Trump is an idiot who's just not up to the job, not an evil Communist Kenyan Muslim supervillian who hates America, freedom, white people, and Christians.

TDS causes one to lose their grip on reality.
Yes, "Trump Derangement Syndrome" refers to how Trump has transformed so many Republicans from calm, rational, thoughtful people into raging, seething, venom-spitting buffoons who will believe ANYTHING. It's really sad how Trump has deranged the people who like him.

Just look at this board lately and compare the discourse from the same posters 5-10 years ago. Trump's style and demeanor have poisoned his whole party. The liberals here are the same calm, polite, fact-oriented people we've always been. Can't say that out the Trumpfans.

Lol @ the lie of "haven't reached the level"... You are blind. It's Trump's fault that people are ingesting fish bowl cleaner though.

How quickly people forget, especially when it suits their agenda.

Sure... The party of socialism hates a capitalist for (lie) conspiring with socialists to get elected. But really, he was conspiring with the socialists' biggest enemy they've been fighting a shadow war against for decades the whole time. The democrat approach has been purely logical this whole time**

But at least we have affordable healthcare now******

Um, have you covered your ears every time Pelosi and her klan speak publicly? Have you missed NBC/CNN/MSNBC for the last 3+ years. The democrats are a disgusting, immoral petty bunch now who's purpose is to disrupt anything the Republicans attempt to accomplish with zero regard to the citizens. You have to be sick to side with that group.

I don't recall very many statements Trump has made that haven't eventually been brought to light as the truth and I'm sure it will be the same with this treatment. But yeah....he is an idiot that is not qualified to run the country. He has really ruined it with all these jobs and stock market gains. TDS is pathetically obvious even on a sports forum in Mississippi. I guess Joe will get it all fixed when he takes over. Well....unless his teleprompter goes out. Maybe Cornflake will help him and his hairy legs out

Yes, "TDS" is very strong. Some people are so deranged that they think a man who's literally been caught lying over 15,000 times is usually telling the truth:

And that article is from December. There's new ones every day:
