Hydroxychloroquine is working...

I’m not going to say that Hydroxychloroquine isn’t effective, just that we don’t know if it is or isn’t yet for sure. We shouldn’t go around prescribing medication willy nilly without some hard evidence of benefits. The risk with that is that we go back to this:
View attachment 15636

I’m sure somewhere in medieval times there was anecdotal evidence leeches improved what ever leeches were thought to improve. It became dogma and improvement was stop because no one stopped for a second to question the therapy’s results and then look for a better way. Only by following the scientific method and gathering hard evidence before we allow things to become dogma can society move forward.
There are medicinal uses for leeches.

It’s at the pharmacists discretion to fill or not fill. It happens thousands of times every day, primarily for overprescribing meds. In fact, pharmacists are now being held personally responsible if they fill too many control drugs regardless if they are legitimately written. Pharmacist are the drug experts, physicians are health experts. Pharmacists follow the directives of their local state board, the FDA, and the DEA, not physicians. Most of the time, they work hand in hand with physicians. If the state board instructs a pharmacist to only fill prescriptions with a specific diagnosis, not following such directive puts that pharmacists license in jeopardy.

Yes, "TDS" is very strong. Some people are so deranged that they think a man who's literally been caught lying over 15,000 times is usually telling the truth:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...has-made-false-or-misleading-claims-over-days.

And that article is from December. There's new ones every day:

Do you actually believe that BS?

So you have a rebuttal for all 15,000+ of them? I mean, probability alone says that they might have gotten a few of their judgments wrong, or that some of them might be duplicative or irrelevant, but if you want to go one by one and debunk them, I'll keep an open mind.

List the 15,000. You can't. But anyway...Spoiler alert, politicians have a slanted way of expressing "information". It's called "spin".

He will accumulate over 30,000 then...extrapolating over the next 4 1/2 years. Enjoy.

Yes, "Trump Derangement Syndrome" refers to how Trump has transformed so many Republicans from calm, rational, thoughtful people into raging, seething, venom-spitting buffoons who will believe ANYTHING. It's really sad how Trump has deranged the people who like him.

Just look at this board lately and compare the discourse from the same posters 5-10 years ago. Trump's style and demeanor have poisoned his whole party. The liberals here are the same calm, polite, fact-oriented people we've always been. Can't say that out the Trumpfans.

The sad fact is, you’re right that Fox News and y’all radio constantly attacked Obama, right or wrong. But Obama made several snide comments about Fox News, but not near as bad as trump.

I consider myself pretty socially liberal but lean more fiscally conservative. But if you think the liberal crowd around here is calm and tolerant, you’re just not paying attention. For the most part, the left leaning crowd around here acts as if they are smarter and better than the rest. And they are not calm, in another thread 2 of them told bulldog Bruce to 17 off. Very calm.

In my opinion, you're civil and strat is as well (I’m assuming strat is left leaning, he seems to be).

If you have a link listing 15,000 lies from Hillary, Biden, or anyone else of any ideology, and backs up it with detailed explanations of exactly what was said, the proper context, and why it was wrong, please share. I certainly wouldn't handwave it away if you did.

Didn't see that, but if they really said that, they should apologize. Such language and hostile demeanor has no place in civil discussion.

The larger point remains that in any political thread you see a half-dozen or more on the Right name calling and hurling insults, and you might see someone from the Left do it occasionally. That's just how it's been on SixPackSpeak for years.

I was calm when I posted it. I was actually chuckling since im immature and decided to just post the same thing someone else did to the same comment of Bruce's.
Couldbt have been calmer.

Also, does context count? Bruce comment about how some on the left want millions to die was, while factual, totally pointless and absurd to post. All it shows is there is a small extreme segment of the population that is crazy. We dont need to go down that road as it would just a cripple fight by bringing up all the debunked right wing conspiracies and crazy stuff some small extreme right wing groups want and believe.

I say it every month or so- this place is too sensitive.

I don’t care that you told him to 17 off. You can tell someone to 17 off in every thread on this board and I wouldn’t care. I was just simply using your post as an example.

It is interesting that you choose to tell him to 17 off on something that even you admit is factual.

I don’t disagree with that but I think it’s just because there are way more conservatives than liberals on this board. So, if 10% of the conservatives on this board hurl insults it’s a lot of insults.

Can we get this thread back on topic about possible compassionate treatment with Hydroxychloroquine? Early results are still very very good and yes, they anecdotal but that’s the point now. You try ANYTHING that might save lives and early on many many people are saying it is reversing effects and people are recovering. We won’t have a cure or a vaccine for 12-18 months.

like was mentioned early in the thread, I bet 99.9% of us would say year give me that if it was us or our loved one in serious or critical condition with this.

As far as name calling, us conservatives call out the liberals for being extreme, big government loving, fear mongering, violent socialists who hate traditional family values. The liberals call us fiscally conservative, country loving rednecks. I’ll take that trade off of name calling! kinda kidding!

Back to the party!!

I’ll take that **** talking all day everyday when we are back to work! No matter politics everyone should be praying for a medical answer. This country is great because of differences but even better when putting politics aside and banding together under extreme conditions. This is so embarrassing on many levels and we wonder why youth go on spring break and trust neither party.
Grow up leaders and teach the future how to act in tough times. They will follow by leaders now and hopefully become great leaders in the future.

So sure, use it, but know that it's a bad example.

As for me telling him to 17 off over something factual, you do realize that's possible, right? Just because something is true doesnt mean it needs to be said- this can apply to thousands if things in life(history and social company being great examples).
Also, it applies when what is said is true, but also basically irrelevant and said only to push buttons or mis-frame a point.

Really, you have to be able to see this.

Yeah, telling people to 17 off is a shining example of being calm. I don’t care your context. It does not make it a calm and civil reply to anything, which is exactly the point I was making in my reply. Sorry it hurt your feelings.

And the fact that you admit he was factual and your only reply was 17 off makes it even worse. You know when people say that after someone says something that is factual, when there is absolutely no relevant response. Such as when I mess with my OM friends about their school being racist. You know the response I typically get? 17 off!

Such a list would require derangement simply in the accumulation thereof. I know neither say a whole paragraph without telling a lie or two though.

Dude you are still being a smartass! It’s admitted these aren’t FDA controlled clinical trials!! It is compassionate use and many many cases are in the new and you can see online. Even Fauci said today early results are favorable but at this point it’s still anecdotal because he’s a scientist and will never ever commit 100% until he does the full trial. But that’s the legal line and what we know is there is 99% favorability in these mini trails so. But hey, if you get JT and wind up in ICU, do what you want to do. Geez dude, it’s about hope and positive thinking instead of Doomsday mentality.

No news yet. So keep on to the thought it won’t work. I happen to believe we have excellent physicians who are trying to save lives regardless of political affiliations. Thank God for that! End of day no matter how you vote someone out there is making a difference and politics aren’t on their minds. Maybe some of y’all should follow that same thought process

Okay, so I’m here homeschooling my kids, grinding to keep my business alive, and trying to keep my parents and grandparents safe. I believe in and trust in God, but I’m not going to surrender my family’s safety to the “belief” that people are “trying to save lives”. If you want to claim that things are working, show me some results.

Couple things, I was self employed 20+ years. Very stressful times for wife and me in tough times but had benefits that were hard to beat like family time. Keep up the good fight!!
I’d never expect you to surrender your family ‘s safety to a belief. I said I believe they will make a difference. I do believe in God and I do believe the answers will come from his people and not a miracle eradication. So yes I believe in God sending his answer. When it shows up? Not sure but I’m praying soon! Good luck. Enjoy that family time , it goes fast. Praying your business stays strong!

No, that’s exactly what you are doing. Spreading false information that some miracle cure exists without any evidence is encouraging people to let down their guard which endangers the health of my family. I also have a friend who takes this medication daily for lupus and now can’t get get his next refill because people are hoarding it.

Maybe this works. It would be amazing if it does, but if it doesn’t spreading misinformation like this is very dangerous. Stop listening to the misinformation trolls on twitter and start listening to doctors and scientists who will eventually solve this.

https://amp-theatlantic-com.cdn.amp...2020/03/trumps-lies-about-coronavirus/608647/

Trump: Illegal immigration is a problem that must be fixed.
Dems and media: Trump hates all immigrants

Trump: We must shut down travel from China, a coronavirus hot zone
Dems and media: Trump is a xenophobe

Trump: I'm hopeful we can open the country by Easter
Dems and media: Trump isn't listening to doctors and is endangering people

These are just three very quick examples and I could probably list 500 if I wanted to dedicate the time to it. Could Trump be more articulate? Yeah. Could he stand to lay off twitter? You bet. Does he tend to riff and speak off the cuff way too much? Absolutely. I'm no huge fan of the guy but the derangement syndrome is very real. Everything he says gets twisted and morphed into some hammer-shaped identity politics talking point that is then used to beat him over the head with. The whole "chinese virus" thing is the latest example. A month ago, every in the media now criticizing him for using it were using it themselves.

The funny thing is that the media and democrats think all of this is effective, but all it does is galvanize support for him. They are unwittingly helping to re-elect the guy.

Also, his claim was basically a non-claim. He says it might work or it might not work, but he has a good feeling about it.
Basically, he took no position so he isnt wrong either way and he has a good feeling about something he knows almost nothing about.
Brilliant.***

I hope this medication ends up being helpful. I will listen to medical experts with regards to if this medication works or not since, you know, they dont act like a petulant child in front of a camera.

So which is it, a false claim, a non-claim? You can't have it both ways. This is another example of a text book politically dishonest argument. Now whether he's right or wrong, you're in a position to criticize him.

The guy literally said the same thing that you are saying in your last sentence (minus the childish swipe) - that he is hopeful and it shows promise.
