I swing by Mitch’s office this morning and gave him one of those testosterone deodorant sticks before he started his day.

It’s paid dividends
I've never seen someone so obsessed with another mans testosterone levels in my life. Grow up.

My brother in law had lunch last season after Hurley’s first title and point blank told me Hurley would take the UK job if offered. He just texted my wife an hour ago saying Hurley will be the next KY Coach. I don’t know if he has talked to Hurley recently or just guessing.

They had lunch last season after Title 1 and Hurley told him he would take the KY job then if offered
Blank the numbers out and post it here. Use IMG.BB upload the picture and copy and paste ''bbcode full linked''.

If UK was offering 12.5 million per year and they wanted to keep him I think they would find a way to get him a small rise. Probably not super close to 10 million but maybe 7.5 or 8 million.
So a 50-60% pay raise is "small" ? For a athletic department already over budget ?

I hope he uses the 12.5 mil to buy the Kentucky castle and declare himself king of the state as he wins multiple titles.

Maybe Hurley wasn't being serious at lunch when he said he would take the UK job. Also winning a second title could change things. Plus if you friend hasn't talked to Hurley since he could just be assuming. Also Hurley could be leaking false info that he's going to UK to try to get a raise from UConn.
Uconn can't raise **** bro. They're in the big east. What is he going to get?

Of course this is real, but there’s no escaping the fact that pastor Scott left Mitch tucked in bed all alone last night and left him at the midnight hour.
How much was Drew offered? How many years? You seem to know so much. Are you really sure that he was offered anything at all? Does everyone that interviews at your job get offered a job? You know even less than Hurleys friends brother in law.

Another angle: Despite his confidence, Hurley knows as well as anyone that tournament success is fleeting. He could go right back to several years without a Final4, as he is losing at least 4-5 guys from this team, and losing his only real chance at a historic payday. There IS reason to see what transpired over the last few years, and parlay that into an absurd pay day.. get out while the getting is good.

The big difference is that in New England, the only people that care about college sports are degenerate gamblers. There are too many professional franchises there. His ego wants to be on a bigger stage. High School state championship have a bigger turn out when returning home than they did after a National Championship. He wants to be somewhere that his legacy actually means something to people other than staff and current students.
Don't know about the degenerate gambler part, but it is absolutely the case that very few people up this way give 2 ***** about college sports, particularly basketball.

Drew was offered, he turned it down. A solar eclipse also happened on Monday, must not have been following along with the current events

I fixed it for you
It’s honestly genius. 2 birds, 1 stone. Take out one of the teams in that next tier of schools chasing us in all time stats by making them land another hire and hope for the best or by strapping a financial anchor around their necks and squeezing their budget like the Cold War arms race.

I just heard from a Uconn and Conneticut born and raised friend (have several up my way), that the CT governor said the state will match whatever is needed to make Hurley stay.

Not sure if that's just poltical speak, but it seems that's what is being said around CT.

That makes him the highest paid coach in college sport I believe. (Football and Basketball)

Amazing. Would put him 6th in terms of NFL coaches. Tops among college football coaches. So, he'd only have between NFL/NBA/NCAAF/NCAAB only 8 coaches making more than him. How tf do you say no to that. Kentucky should make that one of their emphases.

Imagine you were the coach at UK and had just wok back to back titles. And next year you could be the HC at Duke for 12.5 million per year or at UK for 8 million per year. Which are you choosing? I'm choosing UK and I'm not even thinking about it. However if Duke is offering 15 million per year plus 5 million for every Final Four I have to seriously consider that.
