No on both counts. Raskin is more to the center/right of the Dems, Newsom is more to the right for the Dems on certain issues. Walz is center/center-left. Prtizker is to the left of Walz but he is to the right of AOC, etc.

Many of them are very popular with normal Americans, especially AOC (who I have as one of my top 2 presidential candidates I'll support in 2028). Walz, Pritzker, Newsom, Mamdani all have been elected by millions of ordinary Americans
What do you think about Mark Kelly? I really like Pritzker but I won't vote for a billionaire to fix the problem of oligarchy. I think Newsom will probably get the nomination and win the election, but he's a corporate shill and I don't trust him at all, for a lot of reasons.

This illustrates why your people are on the Mainboard and why you don't fit in here. All you have is insults because you're too stupid to carry on a normal conversation on a board that discusses politics, so you've decided that for you to win, you would call people vile names and they would cower. Nobody gives a sh*t about your thoughts but if annoying the f out of everyone for no good reason is your goal, then I guess you could call that a win. You're a sad one...
I don't even know why y'all give that boy the time of day? I've never seen a less interesting troll in my life.

I would love to see a ticket of Kelly/Shapiro, Whitmer or Ossoff. I met John at a private fundraiser a couple weeks back and believe he'd be an outstanding candidate for VP or President.

I think Newsom will totally flame out. He is way out of touch with the base right now and wants to pall around with RW podcasters. That won't sell. He is our version of Jeb Bush (early name recognition, big money, won't last). Pritzker is akin to FDR in how he uses his wealth and is a fantastic governor/administrator.

I don't care for Mark Kelly as a presidential candidate, he is a bit too the right of the party for me. I also prefer candidates who have actual large governing experience (aka governors) which is one of the reasons I like Pritzker. I'm ride or die for him and AOC. I'd love a combined ticket of them.

AOC will have a large lane to run in and I think Pritzker will be able to differentiate himself as to the right of AOC but to the left of most other people. Center/right will be super crowded with Shapiro, Newsom, Rahm, maybe Gallego, Kelly, maybe Ossoff (I like him but idk what lane he will pick), Kamala, Beshear, Pete (kinda), Whitmer, Slotkin. A lot of these people will completely misread the political moment and where the base is.

I'm encouraged by this. I really don't want to vote for Newsom. @dpic73 you remember I've been anti Newsom for a while now.

Some of these pols aren't dumb necessarily but they're trying to position themselves for a general election already and, like I said, have completely misread the Dem base, and have completely misunderstood the 2024 election. The base will be out for blood and wants someone who promises to fight republicans and punish the Trump regime. Anyone who plays footsie with "bipartisanship" will be laughed out of the room. The party is also firmly anti-Israel now and too many of the centrists will defend Israel. Pritzker is attacking AIPAC so even he knows the score.

Anyway, to put this back to Hungary, this is a massive victory for the Hungarian people and for people who believe in liberal democracy, a untied Europe, the rule of law, anti-autocracy, etc. Orban was a huge opponent of Ukraine, big supporter of Russia, big supporter of Netanyahu, and a funder of the worst far-right voices around the world (including in the US).

Watch the manosphere disappear real quick. All these idiots were funded by orban.

Magyar has come into office treating Orban and his party like an international criminal organization, which they are. If a Dem wins in 2028, they goddamned better be prepared to do the same.

I'd say Pelosi is more progressive than Schumer, but in some ways they're both to the left of the European liberal parties. The main issues are LGBT (specifically trans) rights and immigration
Based on your other posts in this thread you clearly know a lot more about it than I do, so I'll defer to your judgement on this

I don't care for Schumer. I have it on good authority that he was celebrating Trump's attack on Iran because 1) he hates Iran and 2) Trump gets all the fallout from it. He opposed Obama's nuclear deal. Can't wait until he is gone

You hit the nail on the head, but now you have to follow through and let your actions match your words. He has no use here. So, ignore him. He knows he's too stupid to engage on the merits, but he's also desperate for attention ... any attention, even if it's negative. Actually, preferably if it's negative, because he feels he deserves it. He's obviously a closeted self-hating LGBTQ+ member, or confused/shamed about his comparative lack of masculinity, so he wants project that insecurity/negativity onto others, to draw out the negativity he feels he deserves. He's useless, so don't give him the excuse to be here. Let him work his sh!!t out elsewhere.

Yah, many people have told me the same and I've tried to stick to my guns but I also just want to shame him at other times, lol. It's wild to me that someone that dumb and immature believes his brand of humor is actually funny to other adults.

And I think you've nailed him. Someone who inserts that many homophobic insults into almost every post is for sure hiding something that they're insecure about.

Yawn, I'm not going to spend all day responding to your grievances and I'm not interested in re-litigating the Biden presidency, which was milquetoast for all intents and purposes compared to our current one, but if you can't see how Trump's policies are worse for free speech, then I can't help you.

But I'll just say this...America is a young country compared to Europe and we've always been a melting pot of cultures whereas Europe has thousands of years of strong national identities that are more homogenous than ours. Their immigrants are more aligned with Muslim culture - ours are Hispanic neighbors filling jobs that Americans don't want for the most part. Our immigrants don't threaten our culture because they've always been a part of it. The immigrants in Europe are more of a recent influx due to instability in their home countries.
So because America is only 250 years old. It doesn’t have a culture and therefore doesn’t deserve strong borders. Got it. You really think if any America born person goes overseas they don’t know immediately that they’re American? I thought you were a world traveler, that’s exactly how it is there. If they can tell where you’re from I’d say that’s culture.

When you visit Europe, there are tourists from around the world so how would they know I'm American as opposed to say an Australian or Canadian unless they talk to me? What is distinctive about American culture that would make it easy for them to pick me out of a crowd?

Edit: And who said anything about not deserving strong borders? Don't project your false theories about Democrats onto me.

The way we dress, speak, our volume, our physical size, eating early, tipping generously, friendliness. Being loud is one thing every European I’ve ever talked to points out. We are more casual. It’s obvious. Just like it’s obvious when someone is from Africa or Haiti or Europe here. Wym?

Then I just put your question in google, here’s what it says:
Yes, in many cases it is quite obvious when an American is visiting Europe, even before they speak. Europeans (and other travelers) frequently point this out in articles, forums, and social media.
🤡😂🤡😂🤡😂🤡😂🤡

Always cracks me up how you guys get so defensive and combative about these things. Like obvious things you will fight over. The Europeans are telling you they know you’re American but you decide you’re too smart, you can’t be wrong. It’s hilarious. 😂 Apparently Americans and American culture are plenty “distinctive” as you put it.

Why do straight white people need special treatment?
Look at these poor chaps :
This is what a black politician in South Africa said…

“We will kill white women, we will kill white children, and we will even kill your pets"

Violent language entering politics is a serious warning sign. When public figures normalize targeting civilians, it erodes the foundation of any society. South Africa built its identity on reconciliation and rule of law, and moments like this raise real questions about how far that standard is being tested.

No, it isn't. The Democrats are more liberal on certain issues (LGBT rights, immigration, actually passing reform, not doing austerity) than many European liberal parties
You and I don’t see eye to eye sometimes, but I want to say thanks for keeping it real here. It’s ridiculous how many of the American left cheerleaders act as if they’re moderates or center right. Just call it what it is. You can’t be anti voter ID, pro open borders, pro child sex change, pro men in women’s rooms and call yourself moderate. 80% + of the country has spoken, definitively, on those positions. They’re not center or even center left positions, they’re radical. And the majority of democrats support those things, like full throated support.

It's important to remember that things will be materially different in the USA than they will be in Hungary. The Democrats will not have a super majority in either house and may not have a majority in the Senate at all. This doesn't mean that DOJ shouldn't do stuff but I think we need to calibrate our expectations over what's actually going to be possible. All of the hypothetical Presidents will be constrained by the filibuster.
