Right. And I’m sure this dumb board is filled with international political pundits that follow every move of the Hungarian election. Stfu dork.
It wasn't that hard to follow if you were even a little bit interested, which I was because Trump spent so much time courting and promoting Orban and wanted to model our government after Hungary's. The election emphatically showed Trump it was all a fool's errand and if he tries it here, they'll get the same result in the 2028 election.

This journalist spells it out well:

Jim Heath

"On the banks of the Danube, with Hungary’s Parliament glowing across the river, Péter Magyar stepped onto the stage and delivered a moment that felt bigger than politics.

For two years, he’s been speaking in town squares across the country. Last night, he spoke to the world.

Borrowing from John F. Kennedy, he told the crowd they had won because they didn’t ask what their country could do for them—but what they could do for their country. The response came roaring back: “Ria-Ria-Hungaria.”

“It’s over, it’s over,” the crowd chanted, as Magyar declared the system that had taken hold of Hungary’s institutions finished—and offered something rare in moments like this: reconciliation. “Let this be a victory for all Hungarians.”

For more than a decade, Viktor Orbán reshaped Hungary into what he called an “illiberal democracy.” Courts were stacked with loyalists, election laws rewritten to favor his party, and a media system so dominated by the government that roughly 80% echoed his message. Elections remained—but the balance that makes them meaningful was steadily stripped away.

Which is why this election is a model for the world.

Turnout surged to nearly 78%, the highest in Hungary’s post-Communist history. When it became clear that democracy itself was on the line, voters didn’t sit it out—they showed up in force.

And they broke through.

Magyar, a conservative and former insider from Orbán’s own Fidesz party, wasn’t embraced because he was perfect. He was embraced because he was possible—a vehicle for voters who believed the system had been defined for too long by control and corruption.

This wasn’t just a Hungarian story.

Donald Trump had openly backed Orbán, and Vice President JD Vance was in Budapest just days before the vote, campaigning for him. Orbán had become a model for a MAGA style of politics built on control—of courts, media, and the rules themselves.

Hungary just rejected it.

In 204 days, it’s America’s turn."

Those of us with sense recognized the relationship between Maga and Orban years ago, when the GOP started holding CPAC in Hungary.

I'm sure it never crossed any of your minds that it was unusual for one of the two major political parties of the United states to be holding it's America First conferences in a foreign country run by a dictator.

He is removing Hungary's veto of EU's Ukraine loan and clearly stating that Russia is the aggressor. Says he'll tell Putin it's his responsibility to stop the war. While Orban fear-mongered that Ukraine was going to attack them, lol.

Huge difference!

He is also going to Brussels to ask them to release the Hungarian funds that were blocked by the EU because of Orban.

Here's what happened ... you had no clue what was going on. You assumed no one else had a clue what was going on, so you wrongfully assumed everyone celebrating this did so because they thought the new Hungarian government was U.S.'esque Dem/progressive, after you quickly googled "WTF is Hungary?".

When you realized you were the idiot in the room, you couldn't pull out of your death spiral, so you doubled and tripled down.

And everyone is pointing and laughing at you.

The funny thing is he believes Magyar is anti-gay because he's center-right when that's not remotely true. He tries to avoid culture war issues in order to appeal to all Hungarians but he's said in the past he supports their right to hold parades and he is removing the laws Orban put in place that criminalize them, among other things. Center-right means what it sounds like, he's basically a moderate Republican politically speaking.

Viktor Orban didn’t cancel any elections and never arrested people for social media posts. He also stepped down after his election loss and is partaking in a peaceful transfer of power.

But, don’t forget, he was a dictator.

Keir Starmer attempted to cancel about 1,000 local council elections next month and arrests about 12,000 people a year for social media posts. He also refused to let a rival run for a seat in a by-election because he was worried it would be a threat to his leadership.

But, don’t forget, he’s a democratic leader.
