Didn't know where to put this but this seems like a coach thread. Anyways, I'm seeing that Evan Bradds is a candidate for the Belmont University HC job. He was a player there from 2013-17.

So their last four seasons, I think, have been missing the tournament, sweet 16, play in game, and first round exit? Yikes.

Can’t imagine Sampson would work. Bruce pearl would be a home run but they won’t do it. If they did I might be a fan, always liked pearl. If they fire him they better have someone on the line cuz if they get some rejection and end up with Wes Miller that would just be embarrassing

Saw home highlights of Hubert's presser. It was incredibly awkward and Hubert seemed very testy and defensive. He does not handle defeat well; at least not that defeat. At one point he answers "because that was my decision" and just glares at the reporter. Hard to imagine him surviving this; and hard to imagine Jon acting like this at a presser. I get it's not fun; but he handles this horribly. One reported asked "what happened" and he answers "what do you mean?" and just stares at the guy. Bizarre.

I agree with everything that's been said about Hubert, but I can't help to think that while he's not done the best job the past five years, he has won 70% of his games as Head Coach. How many coaches have won 70% the past five years?

I don't think they should fire or make him resign. I think they should make him get a better assistant coaching group, they obviously are not good.

I honestly don’t think they should fire him either. I think they’ll end up in a worse position

Yeah, 70% isn’t bad, but he isn’t coaching at VT or Boston College.
Yup. And if you take away all the cupcakes every power school plays, he’s likely in the 55%-60% range against other power 5 teams

Edit: his record in Acc games is 56-24 better than I would have thought.
I bet he gets one more year but he’s on the hottest of hot seats

I completely agree, but those coaches at VT or BC don't even win 70% of their games. I think Forbes at Wake has been better than average and he's not at 70%. Hubert stinks but 70% isn't that bad. You will not find many, if any, coaches that get fired with that winning percentage.

I get what you’re saying. But, he coaches at a blue blood program. In his first season, they were just mediocre, but miraculously caught lightning in a bottle and made a run to the title game. In that game they blew a double digit halftime lead. Four starters back the following season, they don’t even make the tournament. His next two seasons they get get beat in the first round.

Personally, I think he’s a great guy, but an ok coach.

Despite the abysmal end to this season, I thought Hubert did enough to earn a final make-or-break season. But it looks like he won't get it.

As you say, that record would be fine for most schools in the nation. But it's not a blue blood record.

You have to wonder if they are willing to pay what it takes to get the level of coach they need. And if they are, you have to wonder why they were so slow to pay what the current climate demands to land the best players.

Hubert seems to do well when he has enough healthy, top-caliber players. He had a few his championship run, and a few their Sweet 16 year, and a few this season, until Wilson's injury. But in each of those cases, they didn't have much room for error.

Hubert may not be a coach who does more with less, but Carolina, like Duke, should never find itself with less. Scheyer has made sure not to find himself in that position, but Hubert didn't.

Fair point. Do you want him gone? Every Carolina fan I know does-
