Since 2015-16 Cal's win percentage is 71.6; all time, UK has a 76.2 win percentage.
Cal's first 6 years in which you mentioned as historically great (and I don't disagree) Cal was 190-38 for a win percentage of 83.3. Any way you slice it the last 6 years are sub par, by Cal's or UK standards. And I never used the word "imploding" There IS a trend, and it's not a good one.

2016 through 2020, Cal's win percentage was 78.2%. That's just above par for our history. The trend was from highest of highs to only good. We then had a disaster of a season last year and you average that into any group of years and it makes the collective group of seasons look worse.

I'll be interested to see the takes from some of these guys IF we have another 10+ loss season next year and finish the season outside the top 20.

If we have a strong, 5-7 loss season and go into the tournament with a 2-3 seed I'll stand down on my criticism of the direction of the program.

Okay, did we ever threaten a players life? Not that I'm aware of, but it happened just this year at Ohio State and they don't even care about basketball.

You don't think this is a UK thing only do you? Nobody should be surprised that UK fans are pissed after what we just witnessed in 20/21. That was a hystorically bad season and the root of the problem was Cal's culture. If Hagans, EJ, Richards and IQ were on the team, like they should have been, we're probably celebrating a final four season. Cal created it, then did the kneeling thing, then talked about his white privilege, then talked down to the fans, while allowing Boston and Askew to do whatever they wanted all season, while flipping us the bird and parking Allen on the bench.

Yet, I never saw a death threat, but it happened at Ohio State. The Buckeyes had a great season, but their football first fans were pissed at their loss and threatened a players life.

Could you imagine how loud those fans would be if their football team suffered a historicslly bad season? Yeah, that wouldn't go too well.
Did you just deflect our dumb **** by bringing up Ohio state? Who cares what the hell ohio state does? They covered up some domestic violence crap too. Does that make our dumb fans look better too?

You can’t read? Or are you doing your little Perry Mason routine ? I don’t have time to continually answer the same question over and over so you can make you little Cal dramas.
Oh, so you don't like it when someone does it to you huh? But you do it all the time. How funny.

Let me get this straight, you can be pissed at Cal and the players for kneeling and that's okay, but then you attack everyone who is pissed about the 9-16 record? Who made you the authority on what is right or wrong?

One thing nobody seems to be considering is what our reputation will be when Cal is actually gone.

While he's here, the reputation he's crafted is that of a 1-year NBA farm team that is the quickest way to the pros.

When we have to rebuild after he's gone, what will the new coach have to work with? What if he wants the approach to recruits to be to come to the preeminent college basketball program? How does he sell that now after 10 years of one and done, the move toward cupcake scheduling, the loss of some traditions, etc.?

Two vacated seasons isn't good but Cal was never punished by NCAA and they hate him so they would have if they could have.
Correct, but it’s still on his pre-hire resume. Those vacated seasons were stuck on him. We all trashed the guy until he was hired here.

But, when we're talking about qualifications for the next coach, it's not fair to demand they already have 4 final 4's and a title, when Cal didn’t have those prior to coming to UK.

I'm trying to explain to you, through using a simple example, that even at our worst, we aren't doing things like threatening players' lives.
I'm trying to explain to you that every fan base is doing exactly what you're saying is wrong and it happens at every level in every sport.
I thought it was pretty self explanatory, but apparently some people need further explanation.

There isn’t one person with responsibility who takes the notion of firing Calipari seriously. It’s a Don Quixote obsession from bored and miserable people if we are being honest, but makes for good message board threads

Since the last Final 4, everybody started cheating and buying players. Fox team got screwed obviously. Pj/Travis team was a few plays away. Maxey/Quickley team could have made a run, won the SEC by 3 games. Not even a huge Cal defender, it is just facts. I really don't think someone else could do a better job. Would have made the NCAAT if we played all of those usual cupcake games this year, and if Nerlens didn't tear his ACL. Look at the facts man, you sound really dramatic and spoiled.
My dad, a self-made man from the hills used to love to tease me when I'd make arguments like this.."Iffn the frog had wings, he wouldn't skin his *** sliding down the creek bank"

So you’re “not even a huge Cal defender,” but you place the blame on everything and everyone else but him.

Interesting.

Ooooooh so if everyone else is doing it then it’s ok then. Gotcha.

thank you again supreme ruler Jeffy for valuable lesson and insight on life. I shall immediately change my opinion to what his highness deems appropriate.

You won't even give a straight answer, because you know the truth places you in a corner....again.
That keeps happening to you for some strange reason.

Kybassfan: "I support the person that UK hires to coach the team"

KYJeff1: "what about BCG, did you support him?"

Kybassfan (after days of ducking): "no, never, that's different"

You're such a fraud

Jeffy going full Cujo like he does when anyone doesn’t agree with him.

First I said I didn’t post during the BCG period. It takes a complete dumbass to bash his team in public for the world to see. Oops

I don’t tolerate cheating or deviant behavior. I’m not going to kick my program in the balls in public over either.

I know you have no problem doing that. But you know my point here, huh, Cujo?

I’m just sick of people getting all pissy all the time and starting threads like this, when we have it pretty good. Of course Cal gets blame for some of the players he has recruited, mostly last year. It’s time to move on to a new season. Cal isn’t going anywhere this year. Bitching about him or last years team changes nothing.

Folks, this is Jeffy when he has been thrashed and trashed. For my next trick we’ll have Jeffy rave madly about nothing related to basketball or raise utterly nonsensical comparison to some random sport or cherry picked fact. Perhaps even cursing to stress the point.

Not a Cal defender, but I believe he's still the right guy for the job, but things have to change. It's been 5 seasons since we made the Final Four. Since we won our first title in 1948, we have had the following 5 year or more droughts of not making the Final Four:

1958/59 - 1964/65: 7 seasons
1966/67 - 1973/74: 8 seasons
1978/79 - 1982/83: 5 seasons
1984/85 - 1991/92: 8 seasons
1998/99 - 2009/10: 12 seasons
2015/16 - Present: 5 seasons

So, 7 decades in a row, we have had years that have been [art of a drought of 5 or more seasons of no Final Fours. As for the OP's question, IMO, he gets 2 years to right the ship. If things are still stumbling along, it would be time for him to go. Unfortunately, he'll still have 6 years remaining on his contract and a massive buyout.
I can tell you are a spokesman for all the UK fans.

This is where I draw the line. You are too big of a DB to be out here quoting from the cinematic masterpiece Joe Dirt. Choose something else. JD is too good for you.

These threads really do nothing other than create more division among the fanbase when people are painted out to be "Cal defenders" or conversely "Cal haters".

At the end of the day, we all want to see UK do well in the future and just in disagreement as to who would be the best person to lead them to that success.

At the end of the day, if UK is doing well the majority of fans won't care who is coach. If UK continues to have a year like they had last season, most will want changes.

I wish this whole team Cal or against Cal thing would just go away IMO.

I never said I am giving him one year to get back to a final four.
I never said that you said get back to a final four. You said he had one more year to turn it around. Now you move the goal posts. Look. It’s ok to be a coach fan, several on here are. Just own what you are.

Well I guess this is a misunderstanding then. My only comment about 2 years was regarding a OP asking about how long Cal had to get back to a FF.

We always drop 2 or 3 OOC games we shouldn't almost every year. Anow now Cal can't beat up on a weak SEC like he did the first 10 years. It will be a miracle if we finish with less than 10 losses.
