Posts like this tell me your age. Count how many final fours and divide by how many years we have been playing ball and that will give you some idea how difficult it is getting to the Final Four. Cal is well above that pace...lol

I bet you a 1 month self ban that UK will not be a top 10 team by February of next year. Wanna take the bet?

Where I said two more years was a question asking about a FF. He could turn stuff around quickly next year and not make a FF.

Don't twist my words friend.

I am tired of arguing with ya tbh. You can be as rude as you want....idgaf
Asking a question is rude? Wow. I must really trigger you.

Your whole question is set up with bias, you start counting 9 years back with the only other time he missed The Tournament, but don't mention that he won the National Title the year after that, cheery picking your scab picking. so let me answer you, I'll stick with a bad year if he bounces back with a good year like 9 years ago and the dude deserves us putting up with a bad year. I think most of the Cal hate is redneck buttt sore over BLM.
We won the title in 2014? News to me.

You know what’s really f'd up? Even if Cal misses the next 3 NCAA tournaments and gets fired, a portion of this fanbase and some of the media, will blame the BBN.
Well to be fair, our fans did harass a ref at his home and threaten he and his family because he sucked at his job. Sure, he did suck at his job but seriously who does that? It’s the same fans that will get on Twitter and speak directly to recruits. What kind of grown man would reach out to a teenager on Twitter? As a matter of fact why are grown folks even on Twitter?

You’re always preaching about accountability. When all systems fail there’s plenty of people who need to take a look in the mirror. The fans included. I believe everyone reaps what they sew. If the whole outfit ain’t acting right then bad things will come about

Well. You finally posted something I agree with. What these numb nuts did to Higgins is one reason we never get a break with refs. I also agree about grown assed men on social media with teenagers. I don’t have Twitter, don’t want it, I wish it would disappear.

I think the OP misses the mark with how the question is framed. It’s framed in a way that forces everyone to ague about hypotheticals and that’s a waste of time. Hell if my aunt had balls she’d be my uncle.

I think a better way to approach it is just a simple question “why do you defend the coach”. No need to interject all the additional conditions. I think you’d get straight answers that way and people would understand each other better.

Rick Pitino hired hookers for kids, get out of here!! DR ACT isn’t even close to that even if Cal was involved, he was not! Lol

UK was not great when Cal got here. 😂 Your lack of intellect is showing!!
Who gives a **** what Pitino did or didn’t do at Louisville? What does that have to do with Cal's resume in 2009?

I saw it Jeff and I thought it was a valid point until you mention those two final fours. he did take those teams to the final 4 and was exonerated of wrong doing. Why you mention that seems to have no value to his coaching accomplishment other than to cast a shadow over him prior to his arrival here. That’s what other fan bases have been doing since he arrived here.
It does have value. I'm not attacking Cal at all, what I am saying is, his resume prior to taking the UK job, was decent, but also had some red flags. It doesn't matter that it wasn't his fault, when you recruit kids that have a posse and a status, like Camby and Rose did, you are taking that chance. Bad things can happen, you can't watch them 24/7.

But, the main reason I brought it up is, if UK had to search for another coach, they wouldn't be looking for a coach that needs to match what Cal did from 09-15 (heck, even Cal can't match that now) or his accomplishments from 2016-21. No, he is proof that UK gives a good coach a big edge. His reseme wasn’t anything great in 2009, he could just recruit and he coached hard, well, those guys are out there.

Everyone wants to compare what Cal accomplished at UK from 09-15, to any name that gets thrown out there, but that's not right, Cal did it at UK, give a guy like Musselman or Beard the same stage, they would do well. I'm just using them as examples, I never said Cal should be fired.

Doesn't matter what was his fault or what wasn't his fault, he had two final four seasons vacated on his watch.

We blast Bruce Pearl and RICK PITINO for the same things, but since it was Cal, it's okay? No. It happened on Cal's watch twice at two different schools, which means it could've easily happen here too. When you recruit nba talent, you invite crookedness into your program.

Cal didn’t take UK to these levels Ellen, get that thought out of your mind now. UK was great before Cal got here and it will be great when he leaves. You're a Cal fan or a troll, no UK fan says what you just said.

You’re the one that said we blasted Pitino for the same thing. Pitino hired prostitutes for kids and Cal was unaware of Rose ACT. They are not the same.

You spew so much 💩 from your mouth, you now can’t keep up with it!! Lol

You’re wrong yet again, Jeffery! 😜

You're miscalibrated.

Some people get in their head that '10-'15 UK was just like the good ol' days, that's how Kentucky is supposed to be, etc.

No sir. That was a level far above average for UK that only our elite coaches ever reached, and never for a decade plus.

Now for this season, no excuse. But set it aside for a moment.

A trend? Teams like '19 and '20 which you probably consider sub-par were still well above the UK historical win percentage.

Were they as good as peak Cal/Pitino/Rupp? Of course not.

Does Cal need to make some changes to get back into every-year-title-contention? Yep.

But the idea that we've just been imploding the last 5 years says more about the fan than the program.
Since 2015-16 Cal's win percentage is 71.6; all time, UK has a 76.2 win percentage.
Cal's first 6 years in which you mentioned as historically great (and I don't disagree) Cal was 190-38 for a win percentage of 83.3. Any way you slice it the last 6 years are sub par, by Cal's or UK standards. And I never used the word "imploding" There IS a trend, and it's not a good one.

For the record, I'm not in the "Fire Cal" camp. IMO, he needs to shake up his staff to find someone who can evaluate talent. Just because a dude is rated highly in his class doesn't mean he is UK worthy; i think the barometer should be "how does a kid stack up against other dudes we've had here that have been successful", not just because a kid is highly rated in his class. Some classes suck.

My fault I’m big enough to admit when I am wrong. I didn’t expect someone else to answer. But you didn’t answer my question. Nowhere in your thorough response did you mention who you would want which is all I asked. I’m not attacking you or trying to troll.
Is it possible on this website to have a debate that doesn’t include trying to make someone look stupid? Or is that where we are as a fan base after this dreadful season.
I'll take a refocused John Calipari, one that puts UK ahead of thebNBA draft and keeps players in the program for 3+ years like everyone else.

Gun to my head, I would say Musselman, Stevens and Few.

Your inexperience is showing. There was basketball happening before you and most of us remember it.
You could learn from the past once you stop thinking you're so damn smart.
No, it's not a lack of experience, it's me saying you're full of ****. Social media is a huge contributer to the loudness of the BBN, you can voice your opinions directly to the coaches and players now and the fanbase is a lot bigger.

You're lying when you say the fans weren't angry back in those days when they went 12+ years without a final four. The word "fan" is short for "fanatic" for a reason and while Rupp bought himself some street cred by winning titles, there were still passionate and competetive fans. There was definitely some anger, especially after the loss to Texas Western in 66, but nice try.

In fairness...he took two teams to final fours who had never been to a final four from weaker conferences.

He basically built the UMass program and rebuilt Memphis taking both to levels they'd never been before.
I'm not debating that at all, but you have to admit, having two seasons vacated at two different programs on your resume is not good.

Not only that, but he allowed Memphis to take the fall for what Rose did. He told Rose to ignore the NCAA and just play ball. Rose, instead of telling the truth, went on about his way and watched as his school got punished.

That stuff was on Cal's resume when UK offered him the job. So when someone asks "who are we going to get that’s as good as Cal", well, lets look at Cal's resume prior to UK. Might as well bring in Bruce Pearl.

Not true. Only a small portion of the most vile portion of the fanbase that vomit bile and venom all over the program. You know the ones I mean Jeffy. This bunch tries to pretend they are part of the BBN but they have been exposed as quitter.
We're all grouped together when it comes to what the media says.

Do you understand what the BBN is? Tony Kornheiser isn’t going to say "Well, the BBN ran Cal off, however, KYBassfan was not one of those angry fans, he's one of the good guys".

That's not how it works, but we all know you live in fairytale land, so it doesn’t surprise me that you think the media is going to disect who says what.

Never change, Ellen.

Okay, did we ever threaten a players life? Not that I'm aware of, but it happened just this year at Ohio State and they don't even care about basketball.

You don't think this is a UK thing only do you? Nobody should be surprised that UK fans are pissed after what we just witnessed in 20/21. That was a hystorically bad season and the root of the problem was Cal's culture. If Hagans, EJ, Richards and IQ were on the team, like they should have been, we're probably celebrating a final four season. Cal created it, then did the kneeling thing, then talked about his white privilege, then talked down to the fans, while allowing Boston and Askew to do whatever they wanted all season, while flipping us the bird and parking Allen on the bench.

Yet, I never saw a death threat, but it happened at Ohio State. The Buckeyes had a great season, but their football first fans were pissed at their loss and threatened a players life.

Could you imagine how loud those fans would be if their football team suffered a historicslly bad season? Yeah, that wouldn't go too well.

LOL, weak. You know they are bankrupt when they have to call you Cal’s wife.

Thinks for confirming what I said. The quitters and haters trying to hide among legitimate fans. Actually I have heard the media differentiate between most KY fans and the lunatics.

Cal won’t get run off. You know that. You know there is nothing you can do about it. This accounts for your sophomoric arguments.

Let's not give Cal credit for 8 great years but it is all his fault for this year. There were no extenuating circumstances this year. Everything was just normal and Cal blew it. I got it.

Since the last Final 4, everybody started cheating and buying players. Fox team got screwed obviously. Pj/Travis team was a few plays away. Maxey/Quickley team could have made a run, won the SEC by 3 games. Not even a huge Cal defender, it is just facts. I really don't think someone else could do a better job. Would have made the NCAAT if we played all of those usual cupcake games this year, and if Nerlens didn't tear his ACL. Look at the facts man, you sound really dramatic and spoiled.
Man that is a lot of what ifs. What ifs don't win games or championships.

How many more seasons does he get without making it back to the FF? We’re coming up on 7 straight without one

How many more seasons can he miss the NCAAT? He’s missed 2 of the last 9

Or does matter if he never makes the FF or NCAAT again? Your sticking with him no matter how bad it gets
So what make's you think or how do you know it's going to get worse , or are you just hoping so you will have something else to ***** about ? what are you going to do if Cal goes to two final fours in the next five years and wins a national title ? I am sure you will find something else to ***** about then.
