I hope everyone stays safe tonight. Unprecedented storms all evening. There were 20 active tornado warnings earlier. A good place to keep track is Ryan Hall's YouTube channel.
I've had a bad day. Drinking and feelin like F this storm. But everyone do stay safe.

I think I was in the outskirts of a Tornado last night driving to Memphis from Tunica. Road mile markers were bent at 45 degree angle. Only last like 2-3 minutes then dead silence, no sound or wind. I had pulled under an overpass for safety.

2011 was May and in Alabama. It was supposed to be Western Kentucky and I'm glad it wasn't.

February 5, 2008 was a big breakout.
2011 was April 26-29th in Texas, Oklahoma Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. Alabama had the most fatalities. Joplin happened in May killing 161 people, the most in a single tornado since 1950. Yes we were in the same tornado-con as Alabama on the 27th.

Another big breakout was March 12, 2012 where Liberty or West Liberty (?) was hit by an EF3. Sorry I'm a huge tornado nerd. I've got pictures of the tornado that killed 4 in Laurel County somewhere around here. Speaking of 1974 my county was hit with 4 F3 tornadoes, although a decade before I existed.

Some pics of Pulaski County from the April of '74 outbreak.

Credit for this set goes to David Rogers on Facebook. This is in Piney Grove.

These pics are of Norwood Estates in Pulaski, just south of Science Hill. Pics courtesy of Jim Slaughter.

I'll make it my mission to find in 4 days max. They show the supercell spinning, wall cloud dropping and Tornado dropping. I took them from a roof.
I used to work in Southern Illinois where the largest known tornado ever went through. We were doing an investigation of a cemetery one time and there were numerous graves that said March 18th, 1925. We were looking for unmarked graves with ground penetrating radar.

The biggest outbreak there has been in a while. While there were some deaths and injuries...its probably a miracle there havent been way more. And there may be another tornado outbreak for mostly the same areas in a few days. Hopefully not as bad.

I’m old enough to remember the April 3 1974 tornadoes that hit Louisville and surrounding areas. Damage was horrible.

Lived in LaGrange,Ky and worked at Anaconda Wire and Cable when they were hitting. We had no warning. Ripped part of the roof off, broke 2 water mains in the ceiling. Within two minutes we were up our waists in water. The basement storm shelter flooded to the top. Probably lucky we didn't get a warning.

I always thought that Piney Grove twister would be more than F3.

A nasty one went through Henderson Ky and crossed the river to newburgh indiana in 2005. My neighborhood has a bunch of newer houses. My title says Tornado damage on it. I went to mayfield and that’s most destruction I’ve ever seen. I lost part of my roof and all my fence in. March of 2020. The roar is unmistakable.

I'm young enough to remember we had debris in our trees. Most impressive was a wheelbarrow up in a tree, My father told me I couldn't climb up there and get it down. This was because he knew I would then climb up there and get it down. What he didn't know, was that if he would have shut up and gone into the house, I would have climbed up there to get it anyway. We'll call it a draw.

I'm near BG and our weather hasn't been as extreme as other parts. With that being said there has been alot of weather events. Extreme drought a couple summers ago. Extensive tornado damage for BG in several locations. Minus 25 degrees for a couple of nights. Extreme wind event along with many I have forgot about, our weather is definitely changing and it's always something I've been interested in and pay attention to. It's seems to be getting closer with plenty of storm season left.
