Heard on the radio that Memphis would owe Tubby like 9 million dollars if they fired him. That can't possibly be right, but if it is...[laughing]

Their AD should be fired immediately.

I mean, I know 93% of you DGAF right now, but the incoming backcourt is pretty effing good. Offensively as good as I can remember.

A PJ/Vanderbilt front court tandem with those kiddos spreading the floor? Shew.

- Maybe cool your jets a bit, chad. It's one thing to block a whackjob like chief but no need to be a GD fascist about it. Grief.

Welp,

More than 15 months after being hired as the Memphis men’s basketball coach, Tubby Smith finally agreed to a formal contract with the university less than two weeks ago.

Smith signed the contract, which was obtained Tuesday by The Commercial Appeal through an open records request, on July 26, and school President David Rudd and Athletic Director Tom Bowen executed the agreement on July 30.

Smith is signed through the 2020-21 season and will earn a total of $15.45 million, including $2.9 million for the 2017-18 campaign. He made $2.8 million during his first year with the Tigers and will be due $3.25 million over the final three seasons of the deal.

The contract requires Memphis to pay Smith’s full remaining salary if he were to be fired without cause. If Smith were to leave the university before the end of the agreement, he would owe Memphis a $500,000 buyout.

:joy:

Can't pay the players at all though. Not enough money.

I mean...Cal at Kentucky has equaled the entire program accomplishments (1 title, 4 Final Four) of Arizona in their entire history and I can't stand him. I'm probably the bad guy in this situation.

But you can't let GYERO become an echo chamber! If I didn't block Gog...

No. SAE has been pulling this cute **** for awhile now. I’ll bring him back after the season. Same with 73.

I don’t want to come in here every day and read about how much life sucks as a UK fan.

I don’t need it.

Chad, life does suck this season. Being snarky is just a way to vent frustration, and this year we have plenty to be frustrated about. Not a person in here truly thinks Cal is **** or should be fired or any of that, but a little jabbing at the guy is certainly warranted. UK fans have never been a let the cake bake kind of fan base. Win now or f*ck you...right or wrong that's who we are. But when push comes to shove, no one in here is trading Cal for someone else right now.

Just because he's criticized doesn't mean he's hated.

I think Chad is a little too sunny about the state of the program but I think he's right about bitching and moaning. Can't change it, firing Cal would be beyond stupid. The man knows what needs to change. The last few games I've made a point of attempting to make more positive comments instead of just ripping the team when something bad happens.(That's still a work in progress.) Even the werepecker needs a break to rehydrate once in awhile. We got spoiled.

Could be similar to the Roy/UNC slight slide and resurgence but if you think Cal isn't the right guy for the job or that he's past his prime, like really think that, gtfo. That's ridiculous.

I mean, I know 93% of you DGAF right now, but the incoming backcourt is pretty effing good. Offensively as good as I can remember.

Yep, and we're still looking to add.

This isn't true.

Wasn't clearly indicated but I was "quoting" things said recently around here. Regardless, if we were so bad, then why all the overreacting? 1 player gets injured and half the thread loses their damn mind? Seems like they had some hopes.

Gotcha, my bad. And that's a good point. I didn't lose it when I saw the news. I'd be much more pissed if we lose Wiseman.

And you're right, he's definitely out for the year. No way it gets announced if not. I can't remember the last time Cal didn't play down an injury. Quade's day to day back was like a month.

You guys are so stressed, need to relax. Nothing like a nice snowy morning with a hot cup of organic Guatemala in the bubbly to put things in perspective.

Losing Vando sucks, guess won’t be buying as many tickets in St Louis now.

Gonna check out the Push today.

Big difference between being a BBdK-level straightshooter and being a snarky little ***** every day.

Calipari, in case you’ve forgotten, rescued our sorry asses from Billy Clyde and Tubby in a matter of months. That’s usually a 3-year turnaround even for the most optimistic.

He’s gotten us:

National Title
Two Championships Games
Four Final 4s
Six Elite 8s

All despite ****** tournament draws every year and now four seasons losing a bigtime contributor for the season.

So no, I’m not going to chill. F all the whiny ***** in here. If that’s your schtick, cool- talk to you in May.:victory:

I'm just really looking forward to Richards' extended minutes. I'm giddy with the thought of him wandering around the lane with his back turned to the action 50% of the time, dropping the ball and it rolling out of bounds while he claps his hands and says "my bad", and when misses an extry easy dunk. I'm on pins and needles.

You forgot skying for a blocked shot he can't believe he missed even though a teammate already has the ball taking it out of bounds after it went thru the net.

I know it won't happen but it needs to be:

Green, SGA, Knox, Washington and Wenyen.

Let the other rotate through with fouls or :30 before a TV break.

Our small is fine for most of these teams. Washington is going have to be huge and stay out of foul trouble.

No- we sucked. Everything sucks. It’s so hard to be a Kentucky basketball fan.

BKH is prone to quite a few dumbass kneejerk ***** posts.
He really is. For a guy who knows basketball as well as he does, he pulls some pure nonsense out of his *** at times.

Lost on a buzzer beater to the eventual national champs. If it was easy to win the title, we'd have a hell of a lot more than 8 in 115 years.

This season has been disappointing, and Cal is far from perfect. It's completely fair to criticize him at times. But he has accomplished more here than anyone in program history not named Rupp. I think I'll hold off on declaring him as finished for now.

My favorite story in the Cal era was Nick Richards playing pick up ball with KD/LBJ/NBA All Star team and then receiving *glowing* reviews from them. How much did Cal pay those guys to do that? What a joke.

People aren't as excited about Keldon Johnson as they should be, imo. Can't recall a Top 10 player who's received such little fanfare amongst the fan base.
That fanfare is tempered by the knowledge that he’ll keep THEREGOESMYHERRO on the bench

What are the chances that UL is in the play in game an could play us as either a 5 or 6?

-Maryland tried to go the hot high school coach route with Bob Wade, Dunbar HS, when Lefty was let go after the Len Bias tragedy. That ended after 2 years, I think, with disastrous results.

-I'm pumped about Keldon Johnson too. I think ESPN has him ranked the highest at 6. Borzello said the reason for the high ranking was his consistency. He comes to play every game. I found that highly encouraging.

-Anyone who isn't excited about the potential of next year's squad, especially the backcourt, is probably just a malcontent by choice.

Chances are low if the committee follows its documented guidelines. So count on it.

1. If possible, rematches of non-conference regular-season games should be avoided in the First Four and first round.

I still think the success of this team going forward has less to do with Vando and more to do with Quade, SGA, Knox, and 1 of Wenyen/Diallo making shots. The emergence of Quade Green's perimeter shot gives me a little hope going forward. It takes some pressure off of SGA while freeing up Knox with more "open" looks.

Vanderbilt obviously is needed for paint presence and other intangibles he brings; this bunch is nowhere near peak performance without him. However, the difference between losing before the first weekend is over, and making another Elite 8/Final Four run lies heavily in this team's ability/inability to score from outside of 12 feet.

And let's be honest, there is no seeding conspiracy by hiding the seriousness of his injury. His diagnosis will be snapchatted by this evening. Watch. Chief already knows and he lives in greater-metropolitan Ft. Worth.

And let's be even more honest, this is a Sweet 16 team AT BEST with or without Vanderbilt. Anything beyond that will exceed any of y'all's expectations and you know it. Cheer for them like always and hope Duke and Carolina lose. It's what March is all about.
