Kentucky was listed as one of Durant's early favorites, but has appeared to slip off the pace since the high school season ended.
"I'm not sure if it's any one thing, but they do seem to have slipped," Smith said. "Having Tubby in here (Thursday) may have helped. Kevin may have gotten the impression they weren't recruiting him hard enough or that he wasn't a priority. A lot of schools have come in and told him he's their main guy, their No. 1 priority.

Welp is Penny goes to Memphis there ends our chance of getting Wiseman. It seems like when we are 100% on some guys that are more than a year out that they never end up here.

Ex-Trump campaign aide Sam Nunberg described White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as “unattractive” and a “fat slob” in an interview with Spectrum News NY1 yesterday

:joy:

This new America is entertaining, I'll give it that.
On Barstool’s Rundown last week, they were talking Hope Hicks and KFC thought that she and Huckabee Sanders were the same person and that the weight of the job had transformed her. He couldn’t understand why everyone thought she was hot and ended up saying she was ugly, etc. and Pres has to contort his face, pretend to be very genuinely offended, and lecture Kevin. It was hilarious. Poor Pres, AMIRITE?

(You can all take it as read that I am a very up-to-speed, full blown Stoolie now. Can’t get enough.)

That’s not good. Hope everything is alright buddy! Googled Texas election results and there were some tight races, not sure who his candidate was.

- Didn't delete Twitter? Dafuq, still going strong.

- Exit polls, yep...all day long. They were right on point. Actually more accurate than the last polls we ran each week for the last three, that had us at 52.8. Exits showed 50/50.

- The race was finally called around 12:30am Central. We won by 335 votes, unreal. Closest race I've been in. About stroked out 3-4 times tonight crunching numbers coming in.

- Best feeling in the world. Especially when you like the candidate. Seven months of craziness and stress for one day.

- Still celebrating with my team. *******, this is nice.

* Not sure that I like this version of Tommy. Happy for his success and all, but...

* Knox gets **** right, Cal actually plays our best lineup and the Cats bring home another SEC title this weekend.

* The Waco thread is mildly concerning.

* Blunt Chainsaw

* Props to the wife for determining that 9pm on a Tuesday night was the approp time to begin work on the nursery.

* So everyone agrees that Penny would be a massive failure at Memphis, right? Couldn't happen to a better bunch of folks down there as far as I'm concerned

They averaged 16K w/ Pastner, down to 6K this year w/ Tubby, the lowest in 50 years...they aren't even going to reach the threshold required to receive $$$ from the Grizzlies & Arena.

Penny would bring excitement & players, if nothing else. I'm sure he'd be surrounded by an All Star staff, which apparently could include Larry Brown. Regardless, Tubby to Memphis may be the most uninspiring hire at a great-potential program that I can remember. :weary:

Also of note, he leaves Texas Tech and they become a Top 10 squad basically overnight. Sad to see him go out like this, but his time is far gone as it pertains to legitimate programs.

He'd be good for Ole Miss (then again, maybe not). For being such a great guy, his attrition and 'bad guys' he seemingly brings into every program is kinda weird. Minnesota was a mess w/ him as well.

-Memphis hiring an unproven AAU coach to prevent UK from getting Wiseman would be the all time Memphis move. SMH. You did that once with Pastner, then hired our former coach. Sorry we stole Cal but get off our noots already. Penny's HC experience is a middle school girls team and AAU. Lol. Larry Brown is like 907 years old. Talk about selling out for quick gratification. Go hire a good HC, let him build the program back up and get back on the map. Seems like an awful place for a guy that has literally NO experience to cut his teeth.

-SECT :sunglasses::smiley: Don't care how the team is or where the location... I love this week.

-Barstool on Sirius has good intentions but do they only talk about really graphic sexual sh*t all the time? Can we mix in a little sports talk rather than you all break down the intricacies of your wekking routine? We all do it, congrats on your preferred method.

-6a workout. The morning workout is a game changer. Wish I could get at more often.

-DrX is not off to a stellar start in the GYERO Biggest Loser. SMH. "I'm starting Monday."

Tubby still playing ballline d and doubling the post on every possession?

Can’t think of many hires like Penny that have worked out.

Plus Memphis about to have the dopest unis/shoes in the world. Could use some Penny fashion guidance here at horse silk U.

If I'm Memphis's AD, I shitcan Tubby and hire Penny in a heartbeat.

It's Memphis basketball, a good but not exactly legendary program. It's not ND hiring Faust.

He's THE face of basketball both for the city and the University. And it's not like he's coming to coach straight from playing in the league or the broadcast booth. He's a very well regarded high school and AAU coach. Not the same as college, obviously, but it's not like he has no clue how to coach players.

He's extremely well connected in AAU circles and almost assuredly will bring two 5-star players (including the #1 recruit in America) to Memphis and give the program the shot in the arm it desperately needs.

And all of this is not even predicated on Larry Brown joining his staff. If that happens (and I have no clue why Larry Brown, at his age, would want to be an assistant, but whatever), it's an absolute slam dunk.

I hate it, because it will most likely cost us Wiseman and Jeffries, but with Tubby basically telling every recruit in America to get off his lawn last week, Memphis has to do something now. Penny's a risk, but probably a risk that's worth it for Memphis.

Having said all that, Kenny Payne would be a damn good fit for Memphis as well.

Going to log "Penny is an absolute slam dunk hire" in the @oldtakesexposed queue.

...for Memphis. A school with only three final fours in history (one, by the NCAA's math). Again, let's not pretend they have this grand tradition to protect. They could do a hell of a lot worse than to hire the local legend who will, almost assuredly, recruit like a demon.

And yes, I think dude is out for the year. IMO, he was our best player too.
