Y'all are generally all over Cal's nuts for doing the right thing for the kid, understandably so from a mature and reasonable standpoint. So, what's so different about this? Cal did right by the kid. Amazing story, tbh.
Kid didn't reciprocate. No good faith shown. Never played a minute. They play a season, keep up their studies throughout, and they are family. Use us as training camp, you are persona non grata.

I get that it would really suck if he bolts without playing a minute here. But why wouldn't he put his name in and get the feedback? Seems like a no brainer decision for anyone with serious aspirations of playing in the league.

If it comes out that his plan all along was to just practice and say adios after a semester, that's one thing. But I don't think that's the case.

If nothing else, the kid had one of the coolest names we've ever had.

I bet he showed up, with his 7tf wingspan, and just blocked Zay all day at the craft center. I bet the whole team laughed. He probably stole someone's girl. Getting paid, getting paid.

Wonder if a Diallo who had played for entire semester could have helped us in the UNC game?

But at that point, he only had 3 months under his belt, not the entire 4 months that it took to improve his game so drastically while at UK. I can't imagine the strides he's made in the month of April.

Now if our backcourt had been in early foul trouble vs UNC [completely hypothetically, of course] . . . well, that might have been a different story altogether.

Not much could have helped that night.

FTR, I don't necessarily fault Cal for not playing Diallo against UNC. It's never really even crossed my mind. The whole thing is just frustrating as hell.

On the bright side, these are better problems to have had the past 8 years than, say, IU.

But MFCH-Q4J-VQNWE*y%*&b)p*&i_+)+UV V9HO, I've never understood why the League caved on the proposed 2 and done rule in 2011.

There is no other college sport that is so raped and pillaged by its corresponding pro league. (with the possible exception of all this FCC soccer I hear about - I don't know if it's similar, but nor do I care).

<, personally, I haven't gone crazy> 10 days ago I was bragging on how well these kids make graceful exits and sincere, moving statements. Credit to Cal and his staff, credit to the kids.

I think in this case, everyone would have been better served by no statement at all.

I think most figured he might test the waters, but in this case, the heartfelt thanks to #BBN! rings a little hollow. Just save it, keep quiet and do what you have to do. If you do leave, that's the time to broadcast the farewell speech.

Makes no sense to say goodbye if you've never said hello.

Hot girl you've been dating for 4 months (without giving it up) tells you she's going to leave you for a while to see if she can snag a sugar daddy. Make sure you bite your tongue and wish her well so she'll come back and settle for you just in case she can't find one!

I mean... whatever. I've got no issue with him doing what he wants but when it comes down to it I'm a UK fan. I'd rather him be here but if he's not then it's not like I'd be rooting for or against him at the next level. I'm indifferent toward him. He's basically like a really good football verbal commit... yeah you'd like to have him but there's an equal expectation he ends up somewhere else so you hold off on really caring where he goes.

Ive finally arrived to the point, at 43 years old, that i dont really give a f^cking **** what any 18/19 year old kid does. You wanna go pro? Go. You wanna use us (UK) to justify the ends to your means? By all means do it. Thats the brand Cal has built and that is just the way it is. Like it or not, tough ****.

Comes back = obviously happy, will root for him forever like every other Cat.

Stays in the draft = won't remember his name in two years. Won't root for him or against him. He just won't exist to me.

Obviously I'm rooting for him to come back, but as we all know, the interests of UK and the fans are nearly last, somewhere between high school drop out handler Scoo'twain Washington and a random grade school lunch lady.

I agree, I've never liked these hot shots from out of state with goofy names and ten foot wingspans who don't understand what it means to wear the blue and white. Why Coach Rupp and Coach Joe B used to win more games than anyone using boys from the state who had hearts bigger than Paintsville beating in their chest, and if Cal was any kind of coach, he'd do it too. Let Hammy do whatever the hell Hammy wants to do, we're better off without him. Get Scrappy McGymrat who I personally saw hit six threes for Marion County this past fall to decommit from Berea and I'm telling you right now, we're gonna be just fine.

I've been saying this since JR VanHoose.

No reason for him not to explore the options. That said I see no way he is on anyones draft board until possibly late, late second round.

As for as the letter and the length, meh. He is a very intelligent kid.

Still believe he is in blue in 2017 and one of our best players.

Pffttttt!!! If that young minority individual isn't completely and entirely devoted to my Winter time entertainment, then good riddance.

-One positive to the Diallo thing is screwing UCONN.

-Papa's last night. Meh, not his best performance. Looked like it may have been sitting for a bit or the last delivery.

-Keeneland with JtB on Friday. Perfect. Buddies setup a table upstairs, nice little home base, roamed the grounds admiring the scene, bounced out about 4:30. Nice day. Ended up grilling and hanging with AP, Boat, couple other friends on the back deck until 12a. Grandparents scooped up the little dude around 9a the next morning and I basically sat on the couch for the next 8 hours.

-We're at the stage where G wants to listen to a song 150 X's in a row. Super cute the first time -> Holy f*ck I never want to hear "Hand Clap" by Fitz & the Tantrums again.

-TPB's latest season was good. Not one of the best but that dynamic is basically endless.

-Record heat this weekend. LEGGO :cool2:
