Late rundown:
-Nicky Scarfo, former boss of the Philly mob, passed January 16th, at the age of 87. Convicted of ordering the murders of over 20 members/associates in his tenure, he received a 55 year sentence. You would think with that body count he would have gotten life, which initially he did, until the murder of Frank "Frankie Flowers" D'Alfonso was overturned. Picture below taken in the USP in Atlanta, and left to right:
EX Lucchese boss Vic Amuso, one time Colombo boss Vic Orena, N/A, and finally Scarfo on the end.
Like father like son, Nicky Scarfo, Jr was hit with a 30 year sentence for his role in a scheme that bilked millions from investors and financial institutions.
Scarfo, jr:
February 6th marked the 100th birthday of one time Colombo Family Underboss John "Sonny" Franzese. Sonny, who is currently the oldest inmate in the federal system, is finishing up a 5 year bid for extorting a Staten Island strip club. Of his 100 years on earth, forty of them have been spent inside. Franzese is due for release from the Fed Med Ctr in Devens, MA on 6/25/2017.
Picture outside Brooklyn Federal Court after his sentencing:
-Somewhat local, after 11 years, one time Bonanno Acting Boss, Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano was transferred from the Super-Max facility in Colorado, and was placed in USP Big Sandy over in Inez.
