The lunch date sounds more enjoyable than the basketball game, tbh.

And the Crimson Tide came to play this afternoon, partner. The Cats need a breather and we need to take care of some bills... don't go anywhere, folks.

Over

-Be interesting to see what Bam does if he falls into the mid/late 20's.

-I would think Zay is gone, he'll never be a 1st Rd pick, so if his intent is to play basketball for a living he might as well get started ASAP rather than playing another year for free.

I just don't understand why someone in the undrafted range wouldn't stay, keep squirrel hunting around sorority circle, and then go make 60-100k in Europe. Those sure are better prospects than the average jabroni finance major at B&E.

I get it completely for a surefire 1st or 2nd rounder that can't really improve their stock, but that's obviously different.

Let the college cake bake, hombre.

Can Briscoe improve his stock? I think that is a legitimate question. For a point guard, he has NBA size and (just barely) NBA athleticism.

Thus far, he shown a little ability to run point but nothing notable enough to get drafted on. Still, that's the sort of thing that can actually develop in college.

I don't see why you'd leave after your sophomore year to be the 10th man on the Fort Wayne Mad Ants or slum around Europe if you can stay and get your degree and have a shot (maybe not a huge shot, but still) of turning yourself into a first rounder if the stars align.

Plus (and this is nothing to **** on), there is a significant monetary advantage to becoming beloved by the BBN. Briscoe would be an absolute afterthought if he left after this year. If he stays until he's a senior, he could become on of those guys that the BBN welcomes with open arms and supports in whatever they do.

I think Bam is gonzo after this year regardless.

Unless he just goes all the way in the tank the rest of the year, he's fairly certain to be a first round pick. He can't risk coming back as a sophomore and being further exposed on a team where there won't be many minutes available (especially if Bamba comes).

If Briscoe wants to be a career D-League guy- yeah, jump. He's not close to an NBA player. Maybe he can get there but it would be much easier to do so as a college star than working your way up from the D.

Generally agree with the Anth Principle but it's not universal.

Because he loses a year of revenue, ability to play/train/practice 365 days per year, and a year of experience while actually making money. He has a finite amount of time he can earn money playing basketball. Very small window. If his intent is to play professional basketball(at any level), and he will never become a 1st Rd guaranteed money guy, he gains nothing by returning another year. We can all agree he's not improving his stock. Also, Briscoe doesn't give a **** right now about being Kenny Walker in 20 years or a degree. He's been pretty clear about going pro.

Bam is a different story. He could benefit by a weaker draft and potentially make up the loss of a year of revenue by moving up the draft. Then again he could be exposed and fall out of the 1st Rd or worse get injured.

Bam's already in the 20s on several boards. Playing with fire at that point and this is a crazy deep draft.

It is yet to be seen whether Briscoe has any window at all to make real money playing basketball professionally.

He can putz around next year in the D-League or some low-level Euro league and make $50k or whatever and ride around on buses, get no exposure and be on the hind tit of the basketball world. Or he could stay at UK and not have to worry about finances, play on national tv multiple times, advance toward a degree, and maintain the chance at the golden ticket of a guaranteed first round contract.

Barring absolute collapse, Bam is and should be gone.

Sounds reasonable for a mid 30's white guy.

He's a cocky NYC kid that has dreamed of playing in the NBA his whole life.

Also, he'll make a lot more overseas than 50k. IIRC we've had a few guys pulling upper 6 figures. Not to shabby for 8-10 years.

Maybe Isaiah will come back because he wants to help the program achieve our goals, adoration of the fans and pursuit of wildcat happiness?

Can't be stated enough how awful he is. Embarrassing but it did finally get me to admit I'm not a republican and hopefully at least my taxes will go down for a few years. Don't worry libs, you'll own every seat on both side and the potus in 4 years.

People made the same argument about Bevin and it seems like the state has gone even more right than when he got elected.

It's certainly an interesting shift.

Late rundown:

-Nicky Scarfo, former boss of the Philly mob, passed January 16th, at the age of 87. Convicted of ordering the murders of over 20 members/associates in his tenure, he received a 55 year sentence. You would think with that body count he would have gotten life, which initially he did, until the murder of Frank "Frankie Flowers" D'Alfonso was overturned. Picture below taken in the USP in Atlanta, and left to right:

EX Lucchese boss Vic Amuso, one time Colombo boss Vic Orena, N/A, and finally Scarfo on the end.

Like father like son, Nicky Scarfo, Jr was hit with a 30 year sentence for his role in a scheme that bilked millions from investors and financial institutions.

Scarfo, jr:

February 6th marked the 100th birthday of one time Colombo Family Underboss John "Sonny" Franzese. Sonny, who is currently the oldest inmate in the federal system, is finishing up a 5 year bid for extorting a Staten Island strip club. Of his 100 years on earth, forty of them have been spent inside. Franzese is due for release from the Fed Med Ctr in Devens, MA on 6/25/2017.

Picture outside Brooklyn Federal Court after his sentencing:

-Somewhat local, after 11 years, one time Bonanno Acting Boss, Vincent "Vinny Gorgeous" Basciano was transferred from the Super-Max facility in Colorado, and was placed in USP Big Sandy over in Inez.
Relatively recent pic of Basciano:

Normally I'd pull for the lower ranked team but this Duke team is so gd hateable even by their standards.

Which place has the better toy with their little kiddie finger meal?

Either way, gyero kids must be racking up. Can't be a bigger collection of chicken tender/boneless "wing" eating grown men in the country than right here.

Pathetic
