Jefferson County already putting word out that they will also be out of school next week too! What a terribly executed mess. I honestly can’t remember anything like this in my 43 years of life.

This whole mess is completely ridiculous. It would all be eliminated by going to a " neighborhood" system like every other touching city in America. You simply go to the school that is in your neighborhood, not the one 45 minutes away.
You eliminate countless busses, drivers tens of millions of dollars and kids aren't on the bus everyday for hours.

When they interviewed the head of the school bus drivers union, who warned this was going to happen days ago, he gave an example. I have a bus driver who went from the bus depot in the far east end and he had to drive to valley station for one kid. So an entire bus of kids takes a 50 minute ride one way, on top of whatever the rest of the route is, to pick up one kid. Lol
And we wonder why kids got home at 10 pm.

Everyone who works for JCPS knew this was going to happen. Our first two days were basically preparing for the impending doom. This disaster was no surprise to any of us, sadly enough.

All they had to do was gather up a group of principals, your most senior bus drivers, people who are involved in this process on a daily basis. They could have hammered out a solid plan in just a few weeks over the summer. Of course, their input was either ignored or not sought. The higher ups knew what was best, per usual.

I know I work for this evil empire, which makes me the scum of the earth, so my opinions/observations are as welcome as my Cub takes. I don't care. I'm offering them up anyway, despite the wisdom of all our resident experts.

Vern, God bless you for your service.

I’m a big fan of public schools and think it’s a shame what these cities have done to them.

My concern is that this is a harbinger of what’s to come across the country. The school boards and superintendents they hire are not focused on operations and education. They’ve become political bodies who only care about - which are social issues based on race, sex, and gender - that are pulling everybody apart.

I don't exactly follow JCPS news, but I guess I'm just now figuring out kids do NOT go to the school closest to them? I mean, I'm asking rhetorically here, and hopefully not opening a can of worms......but if the point is to even the playing field, how in TF does is make sense to bus kids all the across town as opposed to just offering a little extra assistance to schools in areas of need?

Just completely shameful. As always, I hope these self congratulatory suits who run the show realize all the rich white kids will be completely fine -- it's the poor ones with single moms who will be completely F'd and left behind.

Bingo! School board elections matter!

Yep..that last paragraph is what me and other parents were screaming when they shut down for covid. In a conversation with a school board member I said that exact thing..this isn’t ideal for my kid, but he has a good support system, I’m fighting to open schools more so for those kids who don’t have anyone fighting for them.

To add..I thought we weren’t discussing politics on this thread but looks like almost everyone has chimed in a political thought so guess I’m in the clear 😉.

August 11th- With a few breaks it’s possible we win the East. One player I really wish we had kept is Magwood. We need depth at WR and he was perfect for that.

We’re about to sign two star players to NIL deals on the football team. Also, hoping to find one or two that fly under the radar but are good human beings to sign a deal with.

Glad the Reds didn’t do much at the trade deadline. Just too much youth and not enough pitching. They gave us a ton of excitement and hope for the future.

In NYC for a few days. Trying to find a spot that tops Gatlinburg’s Papa Johns . I’ll keep you posted.

The National Sports Collector’s Convention broke the all time record(1991) for attendance. The stores 7th anniversary is next week. Chase your dreams folks.

-Etown factory to add 22K residents. Not sure how Etown feels about this but that’s almost doubling it’s population in one fell swoop.

-Speaking of bussing and Etown, we were bussed like 30 mins outside of town for middle school every day which was really dumb when Etown Middle School was like 5-10 minutes away.

-Johnny Football doc was entertaining. Sure he was douchey but not many on here can say they wouldn’t act at least somewhat like that if given all the money and fame all at once at that age.

I can confidently say I would have avoided the heroin.

It is taking place in FCPS as well, only they have a decent grasp on the logistics, and dealing with a smaller scale operation. The main issue is not enough bus drivers who are having to go from A to D and skipping B/C in order to get kids to school. Throw in the big boy athletic programs (FD) who pull from all over the city, and it gets a little chaotic at times.

This past weekend was the first time I've been on that section of 65 in at least a year. That battery plant is absurd, it looked like a small city being built.

This is exactly where I am as well. Picking up Michael Lorenzen would not have dramatically changed our fortunes this year. We're a really fun young team, with a bright future and more help on the way, and it didn't make sense to sacrifice any of that future to band-aid a pitching staff and bullpen that was due to breakdown.

Let the kids figure some stuff out the rest of this season, make a couple of moves this offseason to shore up some weak areas, and LFG in 2024 and beyond...

Not sure about that. Maybe 5% of his level of douchebaggery would be the norm. He is an all time loser.

Gotta love the Browns to not only fail to recognize the red flags that seemingly every other franchise saw in him, but those morons actually traded UP to pick him.

Well at least they learned from that and certainly wouldn’t dump a bunch of (guaranteed) money into a QB with red flags in his personal life again.

-I'd venture to say all of us would have avoided being out of the NFL in 2 years, with his talent, due to being a douche bag and blowing 8 million dollars in a couple months. Fascinating documentary but my lord he is just a dumbass.

-I have nothing but love for the teachers that show up and grind every day. One of the most, if not the most, important and respectable professions. Certainly something I don't have the wherewithal to do. However, it's also the one of the worst at being infiltrated by pieces of trash lunatics playing political games with children as pawns. The whinny ones that tried to stay home, and claimed remote learning was fine/kids are resilient/they'll catch up, can get pumped. These large teacher unions are pure evil.

-Lower back acting up and my tens machine died last night 🤬

-Started up Gemstones yesterday.

-The reply all "Thank You" email is so unnecessary and annoying. The "Your Welcome" (I know how to spell it but it comes like that 95% of the time) makes me want to run my head through a wall. If you want pleasantries pick up a phone.

-Gonna get my fajitas on tonight. Wash it down with some fine 100 proof Evan Williams Kentucky Bourbon. Hopefully stay up late enough to catch some of the meteor shower.

You all and your hate for JCPS is exhausting. I come on gyero to get a break from that nonsense. Choose to look at the positive..kids got extra days of summer break. Choose love not hate 😉.

The reply all and continuous replies between the two people who should be having a separate conversation is a pox on society.

Speaking of poxes, phone on belt guy is assuredly a tool 99.9% of the time.

The Phil golf stories never disappoint.

@LowerLevelSeatA -- why don't you (like legit great posters in this thread and Vern) actually get a job with your local school system and quit bitching incessantly about it on Cayts Paws. If you know so damn much, they're hiring, hosscat.
Hey hosscat, if you go back over the past few pages, lots of people along with me bitching about JCPS. How bout you go back and collect all those names and reach out to them as well to see if they want to drive the buses up there in the ‘ville. Let me know if you get any takers who want to quit their job and go work for a corrupt, spineless, group of people. I’m sure you will have all kinds of people jumping on board.
