- My soon to be FIL drives a school bus and ushers at Reds games in his "retirement." He worked 40 something years at a company and then started this shortly after because he didn't want to just sit at the house and he's nearing ten years with the school district. So, he'll draw two pretty hefty retirements when he retires for real. He loves it and the kids treat him like a bonus grandpa. MIL loves that he's out of her hair for most of the day. Great deal for everybody, really.
- My parents miraculously avoided covid for 2.5 years and then my dad had heart attack symptoms and they ended up in the ER for a day. He was admitted for a couple days, had a cardiac cath, and he's all good; but poor mom picked up 'rona. She felt crappy but didn't do too bad when was actively sick, but she's had the weirdest post-viral stuff since. She's on week two of wild hives all over her face. Awful. Dad the asthmatic, somehow, never caught it. Bodies are weird.
- Competed for the 10th time a couple weeks ago. Frankly wasn't real happy with how the day went, but I won the meet and PR'd my total anyways. After a few weeks of being salty I'm settled down to "it be like that sometimes." Still #18 in my weight class all time and #6 for the year in my federation, which is pretty cool. Also pretty stoked to bench 210 after being stuck at 200 for a long time. Onward.
- Started Sandman on Netflix and I still can't decide if I like it or not. I love Neil Gaiman, but I think some of his stories work better for me in print than on screen.
- I keep hearing other folks complaining that they are slow as hell at work. I don't think I've had a slow August work-wise since I started practicing. Every year, it's non-stop fire drill from August 1 to October.
- 73 days til my wedding, which is very exciting and I'm thrilled to finally make it legal. However, you could not pay me enough to ever plan a wedding ever, ever, EVER again. Fiancé finally admitted maybe I was right about eloping. If I can keep my mother reined in for another 73 days, I'll be shocked. Shew. But in 75 days I won't give a hoot since I'll be on the beach in the Dominican, so....LFG
- It's football time in the Bluegrass.
