They are paying for play. It’s as simple as that. Will it cost them down the road? Mitch is banking it will. I’m torn on it. I see everybody else doing it and it’s frustrating. If we lose a coach like Stoops I’ll flip my ****. No way I ever want him to make another hire in football or basketball. So give piglet what he f’n needs.

Any cheating claims right now deal with semantics and that’s it. Like the NCAA is going to do ****. They still haven’t touched these basketball programs investigated by the FBI.

Push it as far as you can, then apologize if need be.

Satterfield/UofL's recruiting success is arguably the strangest development I've seen here in some time, and that's not a statement made lightly. I agree that, in general, "cheating" seems to be where this is all headed, but I have some doubts and concerns over their ability to successfully pull it off. They aren't exacly Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M over there on Floyd Street.

IF they sign that class, no chance would it be sustainable IMO. That goober SATTERDAYS, Bernie's boy, was having a hard enough time with his roster/locker room, and now he's supposed to manage a bunch of 4/5 stars with millions in their bank account? In Louisville? OKAY.

It used to be facilities but NIL will become the go-to excuse for coaches. Businesses/fans will get blamed for not "stepping up" and making the same terrible financial decisions we criticize AD's for on coaches contracts.

A recap.

For Fathers Day, I was taken to Yonkers NY for Frank Pepe’s for some beers and some pizza pies. A Clam and a cheese. Ridiculous. It’s all about the oven.

[HighWire Peach Brandy cask-finished burbs thereafter in the evening… I digress]

But, on way home, stopped at Stu Leonard’s for a deal on tomahawk steaks. $5 off per pound… Picked up 3. Suckers are too big for the egg. I am feeding some HS seniors and track friends tonight. One guy off to West Point, another Annapolis. Last time I saw Navy kid, he was a tiny 8yo Asian boy who was a clever soccer player… now he looks 35. Prepped steaks last night and re-Frenched the bone and dry out. Ordered a Lodge CI griddle for stovetop on Amazon and arrived in 12 hours…Gonna reverse sear/smoke with bones dangling out Egg carefully not exceeding 250°, bring up to 125° internal and then sear the piss out of these guys on the stove with tallow and grape seed oil. Shallot/garlic/rosemary compound butter and Maldon salt & pep.

Acid- Iceberg and vinaigrette. Corn OTC. Wife making Kenji roasted taters. Peter Luger’s creamed spinach. Coronary this evening.

Cant get tee times on public courses around here. All the bots scoop them up and sell them secondary… I’m back trying to play and now this ********?

Kooky, my boys up in Fairfield County tell me the Pepe's in Fairfield is nowhere close to the original. Good but not great. Would assume need to be burning pizza's for 30 years to get it where it needs to be?

Grew up where Stew's originated. Used to bring us milk and eggs to the back door. Amazing to where they have come from to where they are now, save the tax fraud.

Place hired tons of high school kids for the summer. Petting zoo patrol. Cousin said it was time to leave when they called his name on loudspeaker to come get the dead goat.

- Having severe lower back issues. Most paralyzing feeling I’ve ever had. Bent over brushing my teeth this AM and literally was stuck.

- All SEC finals in college baseball, guess I’ll cheer for Arky.

- Besides the playoffs, NBA and NFL draft are the funnest part of the seasons to me. Never too early to look at mocks. That said, Keegan Murray is the bust of the draft to me. 6’8 scoring forward that looks awkward AF to me.

- Finally, I’m burnt out. Literally everyone around me getting frustrated with how little I give a damn right now. Vacation followed by back trouble and I just don’t care.

Kids want dinner? Feed yourself.
Works calling? F em they can figure it out or buy elsewhere
Colas were filed wrong by the distillery? Oh well
Kids have court about CPS today? I’ll skip and find out what happened later.
Wife needs her morning thing? Pass

I mean give me something here world!

It’s funny how quickly my debilitating lower back issues from the holidays dissipated once I took the most basic ergonomic steps with my work-from-home computer set up.

I’m a real idiot sometimes.

Here’s a “shoot from the hip” take: College football needs a governing body beyond the realm of the NCAA. The P5 teams are essentially *like* the NFL with all of the tv revenue and corporate advertising, but there are no parameters on how to distribute that money.

There’s no collective bargaining. There is no player’s union. There is no such thing as an owner’s association because . . . it’s college, duh.

I know that is a very antiseptic take, but here’s where I think we’re headed. Because there is so much money involved, it won’t take long for lawyers and suits (politicians, even?) to get together and regulate (tax) this. Amateurism on this stage is dead. Regulate this as a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.

Now, once that happens (and it will happen in the next 5-10 years), college football will be as corporately sterilized as the NFL. There may still be some cute, quirky traditions, but it will be bloodless and lifeless with sponsors and tv promos. It’s already trending in this direction.

We’re in the last stages of true regional fandom and passion. It’s the Wild West out there right now and soon there will be something similar to CFB free agency, holdouts from year to year, confusion . . . We’ll just be cheering for laundry and FIRST DOWN KENTUCKY brought to you by Kentucky Farm Bureau!!!

- Late to comment on this, but Chad's Fathers Day gift was unreal. HAVING SAID THAT, it definitely puts the pressure on you for all future Mothers Day gifts, my man. I wouldn't even know where to start for next year...the Goodyear Blimp, maybe?

- Cal taking an interest in that kid from Lyon County. Makes sense, with the level of offers he's getting (or will get soon).

- Put dad's house on the market around 24 hours ago, and already getting offers over list price. THIS IS ALL SO VERY EXCITING.

- When I was a kid, Combos were one of my go-to's whenever we stopped on the road for a snack. Bought a bag the other night for the first time in probably 30 years. Disgusting. There are foods from my adolescence that I like less than I did back then, but this is the first one that has been absolutely repulsive. Tastebuds, man.

- Strokin's post reflects how I feel about big-time college sports as a whole right now. I'll still watch the games, but I don't necessarily care to know how the sausage is made.

Correct. New Haven Pepe’s is much better than the NY store. 9.2 v 8.1 range. Saves me 1.5 hour drive.

But an 8.1 clam pie >>>>> just about anything pie.

-Stand up desk is nice. Chrio and a legit masseuse really help but the main thing is losing some #s and seeing a physical therapist to figure out how to actually long term fix the issues. Need to do that before they become chronic and require any type of medication. Did PT for 6 months and found a trainer that specializes in that stuff. Now when I have a back problem I can knock it out in a day or so with some therapy moves, visit to chiro, and good massage. Meantime I keep working on mobility stuff. Basically, doing nothing to fix the long term issue is the worst idea.

-For all the bitching and complaining over 4 days of **** weather, the next 10 look fantastic. Hot today but no humidity. then 86-91 for the foreseeable future. That's pure summer, baby.

-Mitch is just past his time here. The landscape has changed, and if you're not aggressive, you're quickly going to get left behind. Neither program is in the place we need slow, plodding, consistency. We have 2 of the most tenured and successful coaches in the SEC. Trust them to navigate the ******** and get them what the f*ck they need.

-I don't condone punching a Mayor but I'd be lying if I have thought to myself, I'd rally just like to knock (insert person) out. That dude acted on it. Ballsy af.

-Speaking of, 80, we're out of sausage. Time to fix that, bro-tato.

-Speaking of ^ my son says "BRO" all the time. Somewhat proud and a little embarrassed.

-Think I'm finally being forced to get the 1983 Monte Carlo with 2 12's/ 2 10s and hydraulics out of storage. Have a guy to get it up and running. I don't need another project right now but a little giddy about it. I haven't messed with that thing in 20 years. Spent yesterday looking at Daytons 😎.

-Housing market is still rolling. They're apparently building some massive estate down the street from me. Have at it, folks.

I bought my first bag of Combos in forever Monday in an emergency snack situation, and agree. Had like 2 little handfulls and tossed it. I've always thought they all taste the same, no matter what the flavor is.

- A college football commish/governing body would require conferences and university presidents to give up control. That ain't happening.

- Things I loved as a kid but looking back...ehhhhh....
* Fun-Dip - maybe eating sugar off chalk wasn't so great
* Alf - sooooo bad
* getting mail - pure exhilaration at the time

Sort of the inverse, in light of my 8 year old's dynamic social calendar I've been thinking a lot lately about how much I hated being home most summer evenings as a kid and now I realize how dope it was. Agreeable meal. Some Super Nintendo/Sega. Maybe a ballgame on the TV or summer Olympics. No homework. No real bedtime. Evening cruise around the neighborhood on the bike with no destination in mind. Maybe coax Dad into a trip to Blockbuster, or just fall asleep on the couch with the folks.

Pretty special time.

Hump day thoughts and remarks:

I'm a roasted peanut or jerky guy for gas station snacks.

When I go on a fishing trip I almost always get a bag of chili cheese fritos. I try to avoid them the rest if the time because I love them too much.

I like Mitch, he's easily been the best AD of my lifetime. He's in Rocky IV territory with his career though. Move or get run over, ho.

It's hot, but thankfully not brutal. Last week got brutal. Still don't like this long string of 90 degree days in June with no rain. Pastures are drying up, garden would be dead without irrigation. It's another hit against food supplies.

I'm down to my last pack or two of spicy Italian. Ready for the next sausage party anytime.

Bourbon and Toulouse for lunch today at their new location. I love some jambalaya with a stupid amount of hot sauce!

I like Helen Hunt myself. As Good As It Gets is a masterpiece of a movie. RIP Harold Ramis.

-sooo....Krazy, when you were "stuck" did your stepson come by and take advantage...happens all the time, apparently.

-srsly...back pain is no joke. Kool moe dee said it best, iirc: go see the doctor.

-absolutely demoralized dubs opponents Monday evening. Like let em win the first 2 games in each set (love giving victims hope) and rattling off 6 in a row *every time*. I start slow...they get confident/talk a little which pisses me off so I steal their soul.

Grabbed a snack size BBQ pringle can and a stick of jerky- nearly talked myself into an Icee but willpower.

Still miserably hot here with no end in sight. December-March >>>> June-August here. Not even close. At least I can play golf in the winter comfortably.

Supposed to fly next month and needed to make a change on my arrival flight. Called American and for 2 tickets- fare difference is $350/each from when I booked them last year. So I guess we'll be scrambling through terminals to try and catch a connection instead. If the flights aren't cancelled before.

How's everyone's crypto wallet doing???

College athletics... I don't know. Eventually the private money coming in seems like it has to dry up... and then whats the next step. Whats the next step, like right now? Is anyone in charge even making any sort of realistic plan on how this can run effectively for the long term?

Recognizing that Barnhart is just in a different era of college sports than he wants to be, i dont have the same disdain for him that some seem to. Nor do I understand it. It can be time to move on while still recognizing that the state of the athletics department never gets accelerated to where it is now without a boring, top button, fun-sucker like him. I think his tenure has been great. Again- doesnt mean this may be time for someone else to take the reigns that feels more comfortable operating in the direction that college sports are going. Its tough to see your industry evolve into something you (and most people) dont want it to be.

There’s a currency named after the impossibility annoying “Let’s Go Brandon” chant, which is currently valued at 3 preceded by 10 zeroes, and another one with a Corgi logo that was started as a joke, and is now down 70% ytd. Any moron who puts his money in this stuff deserves to lose it all.

And the currencies are incredibly legit compared to the NFT market. Shew wee.
