7 or 8 years ago, I was working the block when we got Dorsey (BG) off the bus. Usually it takes a few weeks before inmates accumulate a lot of commissary. By the next morning, the dude had 3 bags of **** in his cell. The inmates acted like the president walked in. He was an entitled F up and ended up getting sent to the hole before being transferred to another joint shortly after. I think he's been bounced around the feds since he can't seem to stay out of trouble. If he knew how to play the game and not be a dumbass, he could've had it made in the joint with how much the inmates put him on a pedestal.

I would blow my brains out before I would go to prison. No way I could handle being bossed around / told what to do like that

Edit - Long Violent History is really a great album. Never heard a better bourbon-at-sunset record as that. For all of you assclowns who never listened to it because of its title, and I know there are a lot of you reading this, eat my Kentucky ***.

It definitely isn't a place one would willingly want to go to, yet so many seem to come back and become frequent flyers. I suppose being institutionalized is a real thing and they probably got it better here than where a lot come from. The feds are a little different than what you see on TV and in movies though. The DOJ is quite the sticklers when it comes to policy. It's not as much officers being dicks and barking orders as there is quite a bit of structure that essentially tells them what to do though (go to chow, go to rec, lock down, stand for count, etc). Most of the order barking that I do when I worked a housing unit was mainly just "keep the noise down" ( up to 128 inmates walking around in a housing unit day room can be noisy as hell), "be in proper uniform when leaving the unit", "tuck your shirt in", etc.

When you go to jails as a lawyer, there is usually an entry point where they lock one door behind you and you have to wait for the guard to open the other one. While you're locked in the box, you have to bask in the fumes of industrial cleansers and florescent light and pray the next door opens.

Gives me the heebie-jeebies every single time. That's the closest I ever get to having a panic attack and losing it.

As a pretty white boy, I'm absolutely screwed if I ever have to go to state prison. I might be able to do some minimum security federal time for tax evasion or something. POSSIBLY. Props to our resident Big Boss Man @RMP82 for doing that job. What an incredibly thankless but vital career.

I have had several career criminals tell me they look forward to an occasional short jail stint to give them a break from problems outside and to dry out. That has to be an absolutely miserable lifestyle, no matter how awesome movies and music make it seem.

I would wager you know one or both of my half brothers.

Mingione sucks, but I’ve enjoyed putting the SECT on and listening to Headrick in the background this week. Might stay up for the game tonight because why the f*** not?

In the last 2 days (holiday wknd), I have seen the following.

- 2 fat *** chicks park in a handicap spot without a handicap tag so they could be close to the beach

- an older lady (mid 60’s) leave an empty beer can in someone’s yard before she crossed the street to the beach that had a trash can at the entrance

- one car park in such a way they took up 3 spots so no one else could park next to em

Humanity and kindness at its finest. People are ********

Memorial Day Randoz:
  • My son had 10 kids over in my downstairs bar last night. They didn’t touch my bourbon… but they destroyed my 20 year Armenian Brandy and Screwball. My kid drinks some fruity Korean Soju. Idiots.

  • Brisket on BGEgg at 5am. Smells wonderful. Pecan smoke. Kosher salt and 16 mesh pepper… shpritz pickle juice every 1.5 hours. Wagyu tallow in egg in Pyrex, smoking away too for eventual pour on the wrap.

  • Drinking high life’s. Laying on my outdoor sofa… impeccable weather at 74°. Wife currently restocking cooler.

  • neighbor decides to cut down tree on our mutual fence line. I stop my vibe to assist. Nearly killed myself twice roping and pulling logs freefalling onto my head. Weather makes this bearable. This dude is a lunatic, but hey - be neighborly.

  • listening to some obscure tunes by the Budos Band, Black Market Brass, Lack of Afro… then The Cult comes on… ok, I’m down memory lane.

  • My NY Rangers are setting me up for impending game 7 collapse. Whatever. It’s times like these, I appreciate Stoops for labotimizing the part of my brain for expecting epic fails.

Drink lots, be safe.

-saw some great shows at Bogarts...nine inch nails, pixies, the connells...myriad of others.

-uk student center ballroom was incedible 400ish people...chili peppers(as mentioned before), violent femmes, Jesus and Mary chain, pixies...Yada Yada Yada. I dont think the SAB puts on any concerts these days. Shame.

-Played across the street at sudsy malones a few times.

*bar/laundromat combo makes for an eclectic crowd.

Best surprise appreciation for a concert i attended was - Greg Alman in an old Ballroom/Theatre in Macon, GA circa 2016........i’m a marginal Allman Bros fan but the acoustics there were best to d ever heard & band was tight/perfectly layered

Loudest band / concert was definitely Black Sabbath in Tokyo’s “Nakano Sun Plaza” circa 1993

Yo Momma and whatnot

Seems to be some internet chatter that Chris Quinn might be our new assistant. I don't know much about him.

That would be a fantastic hire. He could eventually replace Cal. He played at ND. Then played a few seasons with the Heat and other teams before joining the Heat coaching staff. He's been with them awhile now. He's been mentioned as a future NBA coach.

Active shooting on siesta key.

Apparently 3 shot. Unknown if killed. Nothing like being on back porch eating with family and getting a text from a buddy who lives in town (we are .5 mi away) saying, “get inside, they are still looking” while choppers are overhead.

"When you listen to Quinny, you’re hearing Spo. It’s the same message." Haslem added, "He has the knowledge, the experience, the relationship with the players. He has every base covered when you talk about checking the boxes to have the ability to be a successful head coach.” When asked who would take over from Quinn if he were ejected from the game, Quinn said it would be Malik Allen, then Caron Butler.[14]

I havent seen the new Top Gun movie, but will definitely check it out- purely for the nostalgia factor. I dont care if its a *good movie* or not, and that was probably never the point. Anything that hearkens back to a period when this video was made- count me in. Hopefully it gives beach volleyball a needed boost as well.

Baseball team did all they could in the tournament until running into a buzz saw. But they left so much on the table throughout the year that its tough to argue they were left out.

A few of you have reached out to congratulate me on the Birmingham Stallions being the first team to clinch a playoff birth- and while I appreciate that- from day 1 this team has had its eyes set on more. The mid-season addition of Bo Scarbrough was the push they needed. Its great for a league to have the realistic option to pull a guy from his job selling cars, and plug him into the line up immediately.

Solo parent this week. Confidently nervous I can handle it. My wife's first day back from maternity leave and they have her on a week long assignment out of town. Getting her off to the airport this morning was quite a scene. Luckily it was well before the baby was awake- otherwise im not sure if she wouldve ended up going.

I'm not a KSR listener, more so bc i'm on the go during that time slot- but I do enjoy the week when he has guests host.

Finished the passport paperwork for the little one- its amusing that they have to take a picture of them as if they will look anything like that in a month. Interested to see how she answers the questions at immigration checkpoints.

Quite a few northern transplants have made the permanent move south- and have made some fast enemies in our neighborhood. I think the key to make friends is to move somewhere new, constantly belittle the area and make sure to be vocal about how much better things were "back home"

Memorial Day Shorts:

-Pretty All American weekend, definitely w/ Richie on Memorial Day > 4th of July...just something about the official kickoff of 'summer'. I'm usually already dreaming of fall by the time the 4th comes around if I'm being honest.

-Spent Saturday at Idle Hour (76). Place is obviously incredible - rough was as gnarly as I've played in a good while...and that place is bunker city. Sand everywhere. Tough greens, every cup has runoff around it.

Kinda weird that there are little-to-no cart paths. You basically just drive/park anywhere. Never played such a nice course that allowed you to just drive in the rough, but that stuff is so thick and healthy the random cart traffic isn't even noticeable. Definitely recommend accepting the invite if you get one, but having a close friend who's now a member is even better.

-Lake Cumberland w/ friends the rest of the way. Toby's Lake House is incredible - imagine lots of great memories will be made down there. Food, drinks, other, and tunes were all enjoyed - just a perfect serene getaway. Very envious of that setup, well done!

-Detour on the way home Monday for Lunch at Lee's Ford, and some time floating at the beach inside Pulaski State Park. Pretty cool spot in there. Hadn't been to Lee's in 20 years...but spent 15 summers out there as a kid...the outdoor deck renos are nice, but the views & everything else were pretty much the same, nostalgia overload.

-That Heat comeback inside 1:30 was pretty crazy...some seem to question Butler's shot, but he was wide *** open. You have to take (and make) that one, imo.

-Warriors in 6.

-Top Gun getting seemingly unanimous rave reviews...that rarely happens with such hyped movies, especially in situations where they're a Part 2 or whatever. Guess I'll have to peep.

-Chris Quinn was a baller. Wasn't too familiar w/ his coaching pedigree, but the more I read about it the more I love that possibility.

-Back to the grind...

We've got Yankees and Californians moving around the farm that tear down old houses to build mcmansions, then complain when krazy tries to turn an old mill into a distillery because they don't want anything to change. Wish they felt that way before tearing down the 250 year old cabin my ancestors built.
