The whole “circumstances changed” ******** narrative from Cal regarding Sharpe and his draft projection is precisely the type of blatant lying that turns off so many UK fans.

He was projected top 10 the moment people assumed he’d be eligible for the 2022 draft. Saying otherwise is just a fairytale that nobody believes to be true.

I’ve worked with some smug a-holes that graduated from Centre. Their intelligence and education are their idols.

Anytime I get a chance to have that first conversation with a Centre alum and we exchange our alma maters, I always reply with, “Oh, so you couldn’t get into UK?” If they laugh, we cool. If they make *that face* then it was never meant to be.

Also works with Transy folk.

I mean, I guess it was a privilege to get to meet the team, sit on the bench and warm up like a real college basketball player. It's apparently only a slight difference between fulfilling dreams and making wishes.

- Sounds absolutely pathetic to admit but this was the first work week in 4 yrs I didn't drink. Didn't miss it, either. Going back to weekend warrior drinking. Smoke weed everyday.

Not to derail the Centre hate but as of today I’m 31 days sober, no alcohol or soft drinks. For the past 11 years I’ve pretty much been a drunk, drinking half a 5th every night, the last year or so 2/3 of a bottle, along with 5-6 cokes a night. I won’t bore you with all of the sad details or why I finally “saw the light” but holy **** what a difference it has already made. A change in my diet, walking 8-10 miles/day, nothing but water and actually getting a good nights sleep and I’ve lost 14lbs. Not to mention it was getting to be almost as expensive as my coke habit was back in the day.

Now that I have that off of my chest, I’d just like to wish Shaedon well and I’d also like to say, in the infamous words of an old HS girlfriend’s dad at 1:30 in the morning, “Get out and don’t let the doorknob hit ya where the good Lord split ya”

- Pleasantly surprised at the lack of acknowledgement from Cal/UK regarding Sharpe's "announcement". Will be even happier if they keep his name outta they moufs forever. An infuriating footnote in history.

- Guy I'm dealing with through work responds to my emails by recording a video of himself talking to me directly through the camera, and then emails me the video. Off-putting, to say the least. Does the same with others as well, so I don't think I'm special.

- I haven't bought the "right" cantaloupe since 2014.

- Playoff hockey a nice little distraction until #WarriorsInSix.

- Thought my oldest would fall in love with Centre, but she was pretty meh about it (as was I). The chat with the coach was the only real positive. She's to the point where, concerning in-state schools, it's Big Blue or bust, which disappoints me zero.

- Happy birthday, Kentucky.

-on one hand...I understand that in an email mood/tone can be difficult to ascertain and easy to misunderstand. Often a convo is necessary...but this isn't a convo it's a speech.

^unless he's quadriplegic or lost his hands in some sort of accident, I'd tell him to **** off.

-there are really smart folks everywhere, gang. I prefer small private schools...centre, bellarmine and transylvania were less expensive (after scholarship) than UK, UL...and about the same as EKU for my oldest*.

*very bright person with great act/sat and middling grades. Point being it ain't that hard to get into these schools, lose the attitude.

Notes from mainland USandA....

* Wedding reception weekend went just about perfectly. Friday was an open bar happy hour and appetizer situation at a newly remodeled homosexual bar in the Quarter. Saturday was a 4+ hour sit-down northern Spanish cuisine family style meal at one of our favorite restaurants.

* Some hightlights of the reception weekend:

- Andypolleydotcom is the low-key hardest partier of the bunch. Things just get a little more crunk with that guy around.
- Only saw BBdK rap once, but it was worth it.
- drxman kinda took over as the self appointed emcee of the night, which worked perfectly
- Just so good to get the crew together sans kids. You olds/marrieds/parents need it.

* Ray Liotta's most underrated work was the 1994 version of No Escape. You can even watch it for free on YouTube.

* Top 5 Sweetest Joys:

1> getting p
2> revenge
3> n/a
4> n/a
5> n/a

* 2-week Italy trip:

- Rome -- just way too many people, but the history in that city is off the charts, so you have 4-5 absolute must sees (vatican/trevi fountain/st peters/colosseum/etc). Also, a HUGE thanks to WS and anth for making us reservations (and paying for) a Michelin Star restaurant, which is the best meal I've ever had in my life. We got t-u-r-n-t. Lass came home so wasted she face planted, stiff as a board, directly into the bed, like something you'd see in a cartoon.
- Florence -- just an incredibly beautiful and romantic city. Despite the ridiculous crowds, we absolutely loved the area around the Duomo. Coincidentally, the Saturday/Sunday we were there, there was a 100k ultramarathon that started there, and a 10k as well. Went to the final Serie A game of the season, and it was insane. Canon explosions, smoke bombs, arson, etc.
- Verona -- each stop along the way had lesser and lesser crowds, and this stop is a real gem. The views up and down the river were to die for.
- Dolomites -- holy smokes. We stayed in Cortina, which will host the Winter Olympics in '26. Spent 2 days in the mountains hiking, and this was easily our favorite stop of the trip.
- Venice -- if someone can give me a legit explanation on how in the everloving F this place exists, feel free. Wow just wow. Makes no sense how a city can be built like that. It's basically like that palm tree thing in Dubai. No better place to wander around and get lost than that.

* Random things we were not crazy about....

- service in Europe is just different. You really have to flag those waiters down and beg for whatever you need, and they're in no hurry.
- Italians just don't really care for air conditioning

* Random things we like....

- I always appreciate that the rest of the world still drives little diesel 5-speed cars. We rented a 2-door Lancia, whatever that is.
- The conversion rate is basically 1-to-1, and also huge props to the readily available $1 and $2 coin. Seems like every vacay I get a bunch of those and just throw them around like it's nothing.

* Nervous AF about work, as 6/1 ended up being the biggest month of my career (by far). Ended up taking my laptop, a little scanner, and having to make a couple trips to the copy/print store. Just absolutely on fire with work at the moment, and 7/1 and 8/1 should be almost as big.

* Happy Pride Month. Happy Global Running Day. Celebrate both accordingly.

* Breaking Points with Krystal and Sagaar is fantastic. Thanks to Joe Rogan, who I rely on for all most worldly wisdom, for the recco. One is conservative, the other liberal. But instead of being mouthpieces for their own team, they kinda take the opposite approach. It's most like "I believe very strongly in [insert policy], and my party supposedly does too, but I have no faith in these lying idiots to carry it out."

* Germans, in addition to loving David Hasselhoff, sure can speak outstanding English.

* DJ Nosespray Productions > Vern.

* Traveling by train in Europe is 1,000x better than flying. Zero security. $10-20 to go just about anywhere. Unlimited luggage. Get to your terminal about 2 minutes before departure. Free wifi. Bar/beverage car. The tits, imho.

* Pull each worldwide dick out of cole's mouth for a short time period, and insert them all into Sharpe's. F him. Promptly return to cole. All. The. Dicks.

Buddy went to Ohio Wesleyan and went to work for GE Credit, managing some international section. They sent him to Harvard Business School. I asked if he felt inferior to those Ivy League muckety mucks in his class. He said, it turns out his experience was far greater than most of them had and he had more to offer in class than them.

-Same with baseball fatigue at that age. Made it to Senior division, which was high school at that time, and then called it a career. Long, hot, summer days when a bunch of your friends are at the pool. Never having a legit Spring Break. But that 7-12 era is just awesome. It's why The Sandlot is the best movie.

-Laptop is on the brink but I'm not willing to pull the plug and start on a fresh one. Talk about a pain in the ***. 100x worse than a new phone.

-Finally happened, 6(almost 7) year old pulled away, and was too cool to hold my hand into first day of Summer Camp. F*ck sake, man. I held it together during drop off but sobbed like a little girl the entire drive to work.

-Feel like Bellarmine folks are a pretty good lot. Especially now that we're the preeminent D1 location in the River City.

-Breaking Points is easily the most fair news source out there. I just always forget about it.

-Took about 6 weeks for me to stop typing in "twitter" 3-4 times per day but I'm finally rid of it.

-Mirabelle is a solid #2 on my favorite meals ever. Just happen to find it b/c it was in our hotel. Unbelievable view over the whole city.

-Lobster, cauliflower rice risotto(actually not too bad), crab cakes last night for the anny. Dope. Work, ride, pool, wrestle 6 year old to bed, dinner. Back up at 5 for workout. Shew.

Well, we just got an invite to the Little League end of year picnic. It’s supposed to be a big ceremony for the kids/players, but I have an idea it’s probably more of a dad flex instead. I’m heading into that sucker hoping, nay, EXPECTING to be entertained. It is scheduled for this Friday evening around 6 pm. I might even live post it, but only if Wynn Duffy won’t be around this Friday. Mich Ultras for all!!!!
