Bats are effing disgusting. My first job was documenting the existing conditions for the Cabbage Patch settlement home in Old Louisville. In the summer attic of a 120yo building walking on foot-deep bat guano prolly shaved many years off of my charmed life.

good thing I wore a tie.

I have a buddy that lives in Lexington that works with bats, Tony is the fellas name. He seems to like it, I’d think it would be miserable but to each their own,

Me and my wife are leaving for Jamaica tomorrow for 6 days without my kids. It felt like a great idea at the time of booking but I’m definitely having some severe anxiety/guilt about it all of a sudden, emotions I don’t know how to process. Hopefully all will be good when we take off, it will be greatly needed. First time we’re leaving them, especially for this long.

Getting older is an interesting experience. My father turned 85 a couple days ago - he still gets on the ground and plays with my kids, no health issues whatsoever. Pretty amazing talking to him and realizing how fast this all goes.

I mean - wtf did people think was going to happen with this NIL? Emmert had over a decade to come up with some semblance of a plan but like me my sophomore year scrambling to write a term paper the night before its due date at WT Young, just threw his hands up and said, “let it be.”

Our conference is a conglomeration of the SEC and SWC. It’s filthy in here. Always has been. Even precious Bama.

Jimbo: “I’ve never cheated”

Jimbo: “I worked with the guy, he’s dirty, trust me”

College football coaches (except stoops and big dog of course) are just as slimy as politicians but GD do I love me some Saturdays in the fall.

Didn’t Alabamas freshman QB make 1 million dollars before his very first game? The hell is he complaining about

The fine line between enticing recruits with NIL and the awarding of millions once they’re on the team, I guess. It’s all semantics to me. Obviously, it’s a shitshow but F Saban.

Bama has stacked Top 3 classes on top of each other for 15 years.

Southeastern Conference football is just something else. Facilities, $$$, the pressure to win, the year round obsession….This is and has been obvious for decades but when you’re not in the middle of a season and can take a step back and look at the whole ordeal from a far it’s flat out mind boggling when you think about it.

What else compares to it all when you think about it? The NFL or the top European soccer leagues? NFL is king nationwide but could NFL franchises sell out 90,000-100,000 seat stadiums? How many NFL coaches make what the top coaches in the SEC make? Culturally there’s just nothing like it.

Comparing SEC to NFL is like comparing the shiniest cubic zirconia to the Hope Diamond. The NFL is the pinnacle of all sports and it isn't close. Who gets 150K fans to the Vegas strip for a draft?

10 NFL coaches made $8M or more heading into last season. 13 teams avg. over 70K attendance.....that in itself is insane considering their ticket prices. Outside of the SEC big 5, you pretty much drop off to nationwide avgs in attendance, which is still pretty good.

For all of the silver and gold the SEC has in football, which is awesome in it's own right....it is a safe deposit box compared to the the NFL's Ft. Knox.

In 2022 the average attendance in the SEC was 71,000 (14 teams) and that is in places like Oxford, Mississippi, Columbia, South Carolina, etc., not some of the largest cities in the world like Dallas, New York, Houston, or LA.

Yes, it is extraordinary for the SEC to be what it has become. Of course the NFL is a richer organization, but relatively speaking, it's completely insane: the tv contract, revenue sources, coaching salaries, etc.

It has become an entirely different playing field from the rest of its former peers, financially and competitively. I don't even know what the analogy might be for the NFL to poach schools like OU or Texas, but that in and of itself was incredible.

And the profit center(school) does not pay exorbitant salaries directly to their athletes… as opposed to NFL.

all profit.

Give Aaron Rogers some sociology degree, a ham sandwich, a shiny helmet and a dorm room. The SEC is printing cash, tax exempt institutions raking.

Hope Diamond and Gold Mine. Coin flip.

Man I side with Vern on a lot of things, and coming from Portland AND staying in Portland sure would seem to be an advantage, but on this one I’d have to go dK.

To many stories have been shared of him letting it rip for me to think anyone else in this thread is going to turn him into Clarence

Man, I feel so blessed to be part of the SEC now. It just feels different.

It’s not even June, but sure feels like football season to me. Stoops and Co will be cracking skulls on the gridiron soon enough.

Remind me what we’re paying our roundball jagoff coach for. 8mil base?? Would love to see that lazy old man coach an NFL/SEC football team.

How good is the dude who plays Wayne Jenkins in “We Own This City”?

I was just thinking about this. Have been for 3 days now, actually. This morning I was thinking Wayne E. Jenkins would make a hell of an SEC ball coach. I know Mark Stoops would love to have him.

I’ve never been a big fan of that actor. But man he is great at being Wayne Jenkins, and this Wire 2.0 is a cut above most anything.

The way the show is setup with the flashbacks and order of events - it’s nothing but the best hits of Wayne Jenkins. Which is brilliant.

Wake up. Make coffee. Turn on ESPN+

A real life Television Style broadcast of a golf major at 8am.

it’s a miracle

You’re here all F’d up about the broadcast while I’m nervous whether anyone will actually win the tournament this weekend. I won’t be able to relax until someone (seriously any golfer) is holding that trophy Sunday. I know I take golf too seriously but man, I always have this fear in the back of my mind that someone won’t win.

The PGA always has been & always will be the "4th Major" in the pecking order, but they do a great job always making it interesting. Good mix of newer & classic venues, best field in the world, and especially the pairings. Love the more recent shift to US Open style course setups as well.

Sheff/Rahm/Morikawa (World 1, 2, 3)
Tiger/Rory/Spieth
JT/DJ/Cantlay

etc.

...and wall-to-wall "real" coverage.
