Spacing???

Other than the 10 seconds of weaving 30’ from the basket how do you expect players planted in one spot to get spacing unless the other team has 5 Sharpe’s (you know, the player that doesn’t get off the bench to play)?

People that know/covered CJ mention his defense up front. He's not Cameron Mills.

If he's truly healthy, he will be a legit part of the team, not just the typical Cal 'heat check' situation he gives 'shooters' typically.

He's a ballplayer. Period.

hopefully he is adept at running the baseline ala Doron/Knox/Grady etc

I consider myself more on the optimistic side than most, but man. I mean good for you guys but I got nothing right now. I mean why in the hell was sharpe even here? Seriously, was that an acid trip, I mean what the hell was that situation?
Other than Oscar, there is not one damn thing to be optimistic about or even mildly satisfied with when it comes to UK basketball right now.

It is a joke. John Calipari went from the coolest and smartest guy in the room to being a complete buffoon.

Vern, what has happened over the last 7 years that is anything more then blind optimism? There is no discernable proof anywhere that John Calipari can win another National Title. Or is that not the goal of the program anymore?

To be fair... we were in a pretty good spot with Fox's team and then again with Herro's.

All of you proclaiming that Cal can’t win another title are being ridiculous.

Prior to this season. Bill Self had won 1 title in 18 seasons at Kansas in spite of untold amounts of purchased talent, cakewalks thru the Big 12 and 1 seeds. He happens to win this season having one of his least impressive teams over the past decade.

If they have talent, they have a chance. Cal frustrates me, but I’m fairly certain I’d ***** and moan about the coaching habits of every coach if they were at UK.

Ok.

In 2017, we lost in the Elite 8 on a buzzer beater to the eventual NC. We had to overcome the worst officiated first half in the history of basketball where even John Robic was whistled for two fouls. That team was good enough to win a title.

In 2018, we most likely make a FF if PJ Washington could make FTs.

In 2019, we lose in E8 in OT. Again, PJ and FTs. That team was good enough to win a title.

In 2020, we won the SEC by 4 games and were primed for a tourney run before Covid hit. That team was good enough to win a title.

2021 was a disaster.

In 2022, we turn it around with one of the best offenses for a majority of the season. We beat the **** out of the two teams that played for the title. We got a 2 seed in the tourney. We suffered a major upset, but were undone by injuries. I truly believe if TyTy doesn't get hurt, we make a title run.

This is a new era upon us with NIL and the portal. Cal is in a prime position to capitalize on both year in and year out on top of still bringing in top recruits. This is a college ball landscape that no longer features K, Roy or Wright. I think Cal is close to figuring out this brave new world of college hoops bc we've been close these past several years.

Again, I understand all of the frustration, anger, bitterness, etc. What I don't get is people who act like there is no hope. We were picked by many to win the title this past year. Instead, we lose to St. Peter's in embarrassing fashion. But that wasn't the first time that happened to a HoF coach. K, Lute and Boeheim all won titles after previously losing as a 2 seed to a 15 seed. And ,of course, Virginia won a title just one year after losing as a 1 to a 16 seed.

My optimism is not blind. These are just some of the reasons why I am hopeful.

Tubby has Ramel, Crawford, and Morris back in 2006. I feel fully confident that he can make a run this year! If they called Sparks foul in 2005 he'd have been to the Final Four, If Bogans didn't injure his ankle he was set up in 2002!

Same exact GD energy here. I can say with 1000% more confidence that in March Cal will play stall ball, revert back to 2 men in the post and slog it out the way he has every March with no success then anyone else can say well this year things may be different!

Oh, and that 2019 team beat that Auburn team by 32 GD points less then a month earlier.

Again, it has nothing to do with the players or talent. Cal shrinks up in March and can't fix it.

Cal won a title, made another title game and made two more FFs with his own players. We ***** about his E8s. Tubby's best teams went no further than the Elite 8. We were one of the best teams in the country last year and will be again next year. During Tubby's last 2 years, we were complete non-factors. Please stop f'n comparing the two.

Frankly, we’re extremely overdue for a little March luck, fortunate bounces, health and whatnot.

Just f’in win. I don’t need an autobiography of the last seven years, or a philosophical debate about Cal vs other coaches. It’s been 7 years since a final four. Cal makes 900k less than Saban and 4 million more than Self. Start earning your pay. Either win something this year or GTFO

I mean, if you're happy with being a good regular season team that doesn't win anything when it matters then more power to you.

The Bronze Standard indeed.

Ok.

In 2017, I had sex with Vern's mom. Repeatedly.

In 2018, I had sex with Vern's mom. Repeatedly.

In 2019, I had sex with Vern's mom and she broke her hip.

In 2020, we took a respite to allow her to heal.

In 2021, I had sex with Vern's mom. Repeatedly.

In 2022, Vern's mom lost to Saint Peter ifyouknowwhatI'msaying. And what I'm saying is that I had sex with her repeatedly.

In 2017, Hank jumped ship on the season in November.

In 2018, Hank jumped ship in November.

In 2019, Hank bitched out in November...

Not once did I say I was happy with any of it. Deep down, I'm more pissed than any of you. I just believe the man is going to get it done.

Roy Williams went through a similar stretch, after they won the title in 2009 until they reached the title game in 2016. That was 6 seasons without a FF. I know Cal is at 7, but I will always believe '20 was a FF team. Take out that year and we're at 6 too.

****, look at Bill Self. He's been at Kansas since '04. He just now won his second title. He's had WAY MORE March disappointments than Cal. But he kept getting close. I believe the same is about to happen for Cal in both scenarios. We will break the FF and NC drought this year.

I'm all in. F it!

I want a consistently good product Nov-March. I’m not down with the Denny Crum slow starts. I’m reasonable and won’t freak out over a November loss but we’ve been embarrassed way too many times early for my liking.

Kentucky is a unique place. We care about them all and we can’t be fooled. Admittedly, we’re completely nuts and often irrational.

F’m. There’s always a time for reasonable optimism in my book, Vern. That said, you deserve all the mom jokes.

Tucker came out flame throwing

Washington, via text message, declined four times to answer a direct question Thursday: Do you dispute that you’ve been telling people in the NBA that Sharpe plans to stay in the draft? He deflected. “From now on, I’m only going to respond to actual names of people,” Washington wrote. “Because the term ‘NBA people’ is broad. I wouldn’t listen to anyone if I were you. Just go by Shaedon’s statement. Those are the facts.” He added that Sharpe “has no agent!!!!” and concluded “if he wanted to leave, he would have left a long time ago.” Washington wrote that if Sharpe was planning to bolt, why wouldn’t he have an agent, why would he still be taking classes and why would he remain on Kentucky’s campus?

Some answers: because Washington has not yet earned his agent certification, because the spring semester is still not over and, well, Sharpe is actually not on campus anymore; he’s finishing up the semester online.
