I don't think anyone is claiming that the Beach Boys are in the same conversation as The Beatles. However, the BB did a ton of drugs, waxed thousands of girls, and had several good tunes. Not sure how anyone can hate on Good Vibrations or California Girls? Classic American tunes and perfect for a pretty summer's day.

-this is someone all music fans need to know about...that Motown bass sound that influenced much of the artists discussed over the last few pages, was pioneered by a white lady. She was also heavily involved in the recording of Pet Sounds

Pick a famous bass guitar hook from the 60'/early 70's and It's almost a 100 percent chance that she wrote/and played it.

It wasn't an easy scene for a woman to break into then either. THAT'S how great she was.

rudd knows.

The Beatles and The Beach Boys are intertwined. They influenced one another. It was sort of a friendly rivalry. Rubber Soul inspired Brian Wilson to do Pet Sounds. God Only Knows inspired Paul to write Here, There, and Everywhere. Paul has said that God Only Knows is a perfect song. Pet Sounds also inspired Paul to do Sgt. Pepper's.

As for the The Beach Boys and Manson, only one of them "hung out" with Manson. I want to say it was Dennis Wilson. I believe Manson was pissed because Wilson told him he would do a song with Manson or Manson thought Wilson stole one of his songs. Either way, Manson sent his people to Sharon Tate's house because he thought Wilson still lived there. The rest is history.

Peak Beach Boys was when Brian Wilson sent those rubes out on tour, and did his own thing (ie. Pet Sounds)

Just him, and the best studio musicians in the US. (all of whom were in awe of him)

The only thing the rest of the "boys" contributed were some backing vocals that were dubbed in later.
As a huge Beach Boys fan I 100% agree with this take.

Sweet Home Alabama the best rock song of all time or nah?
Of course it is man, not even a question…

Had a super scary moment yesterday. Just walking the dog down the middle of Duval Street and collapsed/had seizure something. Ambulance comes cause I’m freaked out can’t think straight, little control over my body. Went to the hospital and they just said my blood glucose level 276 which is you know just 176 points higher than normal level. Couldn’t figure anything out they just make sure you eat because I hadn’t that day, drink less and you should be good. Some IV fluids and a couple drugs Ativan to help me relax monitored me and asked if I felt better.

Felt a100% better they let me home. Just told to rest and don’t even take the dog for another walk last night. I was just thinking what if I was on my scooter when that happened.

Feel fine today, but that was terrifying because I can’t stand up. Army crawled to edge of the street. Some really nice folks talked me and put me in a seated position grabbed the dog and called the ambulance.

Not even sure you can call it the most recognizable southern rock song. If you had to pick one from THEM I’d say Freebird is obvious.

THE #1 rock song has to be Stairway to Heaven.

- I sure am glad to see I was wrong about Ok State before they make the playoffs. Yeesh!

Thankfully Baylor's coach decided to go for it on 4th down with a 15 point lead on his own 35 yard line. They didn't get it and the Cowboys quickly scored. As always: never go full Mumme.

No one said the best rock song, it was said #1. Therefore recognizable, spins, records sold etc it is what it is IMO.

That said my goodness I hope the powers above have mercy on your soul if you think stairway to heaven is awful. I could easily pick 10 I’d rather listen to on repeat but that is a great song.

House of the rising sun is good too!

Regulate into G thing was dope, but at some point I know I heard PM Dawn set adrift of memory bliss which is always a fly throwback to skating rink memories of first kiss, holding hands and copping feels over in the dark corner at Champs off manslick.

Wow!
Did you want her to be a big PM Dawn fan ? You end up having to put her right back with the rest ? that's the way it goes, I guess.
I can remember when, I caught up with a past time intimate friend, she said "bet you are probably gonna say I look lovely, but you probably don't think nothing of me." She was right though, I can't lie, she was just one of those corners in my mind. So I put her right back with the rest. I can only assume you did the same.

I will tell you a 70's rock band that was superb but very rarely gets mentioned in favs. Steve Miller Band, some people forget that.
The Joker
Take the Money and Run
Rock N Me
Fly Like an Eagle

Then he changed up a bit with ;
Abracadabra
Jungle Love
The dude has several foot tapping junts. Loved SMB back in the day. Ain't mad at Dr. Hook (and The Medicine Show) either.

Sharing the Night Together was a nice "get it on' song.
Only 16
Cover of the Rolling Stone was a fun little song. "See my picture on the cover, buy 5 copies for my mother."
When You're in Love With a Beautiful Woman
Sexy Eyes
Sylvia's Mother
You just do not hear bands like SMB and Dr. Hook anymore. Those was simple times back then. Just sing about what is on your mind.

Bama just sitting back and thanking the teams below them. Almost to the point win or lose, Bama is in (barring a boat race loss today).

I see you NC State. bring this ***** home.

I would say after the latest loss, 5-3 Memphis will fall all the way from 18th to 20th. Penny doing it big in Memphis. Should add even more studs with his impeccable results.
